00:00 Now this is something I did not expect to be doing at the Granger Market, handling a
00:18 stick insect.
00:19 But this year during the summer events are taking place every Wednesday at the Granger
00:24 Market.
00:25 The events have been very popular, the families seem to love it, we've got balloon modelling,
00:30 magic shows, things like that.
00:32 It's been very popular for the families, whether it be in free, things to do in the summer
00:36 holidays because with the weather being quite bad it gives people things to do.
00:41 With a lot of things already going on across the city, the market wanted to start something
00:46 that was accessible to everyone.
00:48 There is a hope that the events will also bring more footfall into the Granger Market
00:52 and stallholders seem to think it will as well.
00:55 Barry has been working in the market for 42 years and started his own fruit and veg stall
01:01 and he now works for another company.
01:03 But he has seen a lot of change in the market over the years and said it has its ups and
01:07 downs.
01:08 Well it did obviously recover, everything was closed in the town centre.
01:13 But it's starting to pick up, it's starting to get a bit vibing again.
01:15 The feeling isn't right yet but it will get there.
01:21 There have also been a lot of new food options added to the Granger Market and one is King
01:25 Baby Bagels.
01:27 The bagel shop is quite a new addition to the market as they arrived about two years
01:31 ago.
01:32 The owners were working full time before they opened King Baby Bagels and Gordon said it's
01:37 going great so far.
01:38 Yeah, I mean, the Granger's like, it's a bit of a funny one.
01:42 It's sort of hard to predict what week to week day to day is going to be like.
01:47 But for the most part it's always a bit busier when the weather's not gruesome, which recently
01:52 it has been.
01:53 But it's still been good, it's still good.
01:56 You kind of notice when the students go away, things like that.
02:00 It's all the standard things really that make things pick up and go down, things like that.
02:05 But overall it's just fairly steady now.
02:07 I feel like a lot more people are aware that the market's actually a lunchtime option.
02:13 So we get a lot of, we have quite a few regulars who work in town.
02:17 So we see, a lot of the time we see the same faces like two, three times a week, which
02:20 is great.
02:21 And both Barry and Gordon seem to think that the events will bring more people to the Granger
02:27 Market.
02:28 Well, the events, I mean it brings people down doesn't it?
02:32 I mean there's these reptiles in and it's brought a lot of kids down with them, parents
02:37 and that.
02:38 So it's always going to help.
02:39 But I think they are going to build a stage in there and things like that next door.
02:44 So it looks good, you know, for the future.
02:46 Oh definitely, I mean it's just sort of about getting the word out that it's actually here.
02:51 I feel like a lot of people just kind of pass by the doors and kind of like look in and
02:55 don't really know what's going on in here.
02:56 But there's loads of fantastic places in here.
02:58 You can get all sorts.
02:59 So yeah, it's just about getting the word out that it's actually here.
