00:00 As the summer holidays have started, most people will be looking for things to keep
00:05 the kids entertained for the next few weeks.
00:08 So we have made a guide to the summer holidays in Newcastle.
00:16 There is so much going on in the city this summer, as anyone hosts their summer in the
00:20 city.
00:21 There's 133 family activities all summer long through the six weeks of the school summer
00:26 holidays.
00:27 It's something we're putting on as anyone to give people more reasons to come into the
00:31 city and spend longer here throughout the summer holidays.
00:35 We have two little girls at home and I'm sort of thinking they're probably a bit young for
00:38 most of them but in the next few years, definitely.
00:41 We have something called toddler takeovers on a Tuesday at Old Elden Square which is
00:44 really cute.
00:45 That includes storytelling of kids' books as well as short film screenings for littler
00:50 people.
00:51 There are little dance classes for young people but all the way through up to older people,
00:57 watercolour workshops, dance classes with Dance City, learning to play the ukulele,
01:02 there's all sorts in the schedule.
01:04 And of course there is plenty of other things to get stuck into this summer.
01:08 The Life Science Centre always has something fun for the kids and even for the adults.
01:14 From their wow zone with new hands-on exhibits to the gross and glorious May Life Science
01:19 show is a great place to learn something new.
01:22 There's also plenty of museums to visit including the Discovery Museum and the Great North Museum
01:27 Hancock.
01:28 The Discovery Museum has a lot of outdoor activities on throughout July and August and
01:33 plenty of summer crafting sessions for all the family.
01:36 During the summer holidays, the Hancock Museum have their Myth Quest interactive exhibit
01:40 where you'll be able to travel around the museum completing quests.
01:44 And whilst you're walking around the city, you may notice some of the shoulder-shaped
01:48 statues like this one.
01:50 St Oswald's have launched their art trail again this year so there are many sheep right
01:54 across the city.
01:56 You can download the app and follow the trail map across Newcastle to try and find all the
02:00 sheep that have been decorated.
02:02 And all of the money raised will go towards St Oswald's.
02:05 On the trail you may also find some places in Newcastle that you have never visited before.
02:10 There is a show on the sheep down in Ouseburn where there is even more things to do for
02:14 the family.
02:15 Take a walk along the valley and you will find seven storeys where there will be plenty
02:19 of things for the kids to get involved in.
02:22 From a holiday club fit for Shakespeare to breakfast with knights and princesses, Seven
02:27 Storeys has plenty of interactive things to get involved in and you may also learn a thing
02:31 or two along the way.
02:33 A bit further down there is Ouseburn Farm where you can meet all of the animals that
02:38 live in the valley.
02:39 You can meet the animals, go walking with some of the goats and even be a part of the
02:44 farmers club.
02:45 And if you aren't sure about the bigger animals, there is a rabbit and guinea pig petting and
02:49 grooming session.
02:52 So walking around Newcastle you can see there is so much to keep you and your family occupied
