00:00 Mira's electricity consumption is triple.

00:02 Aside from her house, she has a small parlor and a canteen.

00:06 Her bill is usually around 6,000 pesos.

00:10 The electricity bill is too high.

00:11 I can't really feel that it's going down because there's nothing.

00:17 Myralco's electricity bill decreased in the second month of August.

00:21 The bill was reduced by 29 cents,

00:23 which means that the bill is almost 11 pesos per kilowatt hour.

00:27 In a family that consumes 200 kilowatt hours per month,

00:32 that's equivalent to 58 pesos less than the bill.

00:35 This is because of the lower demand for electricity this rainy season.

00:39 There's also a decrease in the power generation charge

00:42 which decreased in the third month

00:44 due to the cheaper electricity bill in the wholesale electricity spot market.

00:48 The same goes for the power supply deals of Miralco

00:51 because of the decrease in the price of crude oil

00:54 and the increase in the peso versus dollar.

00:56 We noticed that we experienced in July,

00:59 it was almost raining the whole month.

01:01 When it rains, the demand for power decreases.

01:04 Especially in the spot market,

01:07 when the demand decreases, the price usually decreases.

01:11 Miralco explained that the increase in the price of crude oil

01:16 did not have an effect until four pesos this week.

01:19 If the increase continues,

01:21 it's possible that the supply of electricity from Malampaya Gas Field in October

01:27 will increase, which you can feel in your bills in November.

01:30 In terms of gasoline and diesel,

01:31 it doesn't directly affect power prices.

01:34 Generation companies don't use diesel and gasoline.

01:43 if it's not used, it's removed from the plant.

01:46 Miralco is encouraging qualified people

01:49 to apply for the Lifeline Rate Program before the August 31 deadline.

01:53 The discount for those consuming less than 100 kWh is no longer automatic.

01:59 Those living in condominiums and subdivisions

02:04 and those using net metering are also no longer qualified.

02:06 It is really to set the records that we have straight.

02:11 Before, there was no distinction.

02:13 As long as you are below 100 kWh, you are included in the program.

02:17 Low-income or marginalized people are not below 450,600 customers.

02:23 But those who applied for more than 3,200,

02:26 more than 2,000 were approved.

02:29 If they see that their bill is above 100 kWh,

02:33 they will not pursue applying.

02:36 Although what we are saying is,

02:38 they should just submit the application.

02:40 At the point in time that they consume below 100 kWh,

02:45 they would be able to avail of the discount.

02:47 Under the program,

02:49 you can get a 20% discount for those consuming 71 to 100 kWh.

02:56 If the consumption is below 20 kWh,

02:59 the discount is 100%.
