Fall Camp 2023: Sai'vion Jones
Transcript
00:00 a starter here, year three?
00:01 >> I feel like the people before, being able to play under them,
00:05 they give me the experience and the tools I need in order to step up and
00:11 take this spot.
00:12 >> You talked to us last year about how you wanted to improve in your run defense.
00:16 Where do you feel like that's at now?
00:18 And how have you worked on that specific aspect of the game?
00:21 >> I don't feel like I've peaked with it, but it's definitely improved from,
00:25 say, the first year I got here to now.
00:27 I feel like I took a dramatic step in being able to be a run stopper.
00:32 >> What did you do in order to work on those skills?
00:35 >> It was just a lot.
00:37 It was a lot of physical stuff, as in being able to put a little more pounds on
00:43 and be able to push a little more weight, because I feel like I already had
00:48 the technique, I just needed the weight to back it up.
00:51 >> Is there anything different maybe from year one in fall camp under Brian Kelly
00:55 of year two, what would have been some of the biggest differences you guys have
00:57 noticed this year?
00:58 >> For me?
01:00 >> Yeah, as a team.
01:02 >> Well, the biggest difference for me is I definitely could go a lot more.
01:07 If we look back to my first year here for fall camp,
01:12 my first practice I was probably done like dead.
01:16 And now I can go practice after practice without
01:22 feeling that tired that I did for my first year.
01:25 >> What was your perspective of the scuffle today?
01:28 That little scuffle during practice, the 11-11?
01:30 >> That's something you can't have, but
01:33 that's just something that through our chemistry, BK addressed it and
01:38 we moved past it.
01:39 And so we see that as a stepping stone as where we are right now and
01:44 where we need to get to become a championship program.
01:46 >> Do you feel like that was kind of inevitable with the heat,
01:49 the way it is and stuff, it was gonna happen?
01:50 >> Yeah, it was hot out there.
01:52 It's hot out there, humid, people not in their right mind.
01:55 But again, that's just something that we need to use that as
02:01 like a pushing tool to help us get to where we need to.
