00:00 Well, I mean, it's awesome. First time we got here, you know, I mean, I love the signage you come in.
00:05 I mean, it feels like this is our place. And, you know, these guys do an unbelievable job of taking care of each and every one of us out here.
00:12 The food was, you know, it was great last night. I'm gonna have to watch what my, you know, my intake portion control while we're out here for sure.
00:20 Desserts are crazy. But, yeah, it's awesome because you come out here and just like we just what we said beforehand.
00:27 I mean, you know, this is we're all family out here. We all, you know, you're sleep, eating, working, everything we're doing.
00:33 We're all together and there's no distractions. And, you know, we got great space, you know, with the locker room to set up the weight room.
00:40 I mean, it really is. It's great. There's nothing negative about this.
00:44 I thought we had a great day today. A lot of good energy out here. First day and shoulder pads.
00:49 You know, a couple of things that stood out. I mean, Emory throwing a deep ball, I thought was the best day he's had since he's been here.
00:56 We had some guys that go get the ball to on the outside. I thought that was good to see.
01:00 Communication was good on defense. You know, defense put some good stuff in today.
01:05 Defensively, that I thought, you know, gave the offense some issues. But, you know, also first day that we really did some situational stuff.
01:13 First and ten third down and then a finish drill, which is a two minute scenario at the end of the game.
01:17 So a lot of a lot of things to learn off of. But overall, I thought it was a really good day.
01:22 A little bit more team stuff today. Is that a sign that you guys are at least on path to where you wanted to be?
01:28 Yeah. Yeah. A little bit more team stuff. We added an extra period of team today.
01:32 And you think and also, you know, a sudden change period, which is a scenario.
01:36 So essentially four different 11 on 11 team periods, which I thought were really good.
01:40 And yeah, and we'll try to, you know, as we move forward, this is what we'll be doing, you know,
01:44 and then probably in another couple of days we'll add another team period as well.
01:48 So, you know, the more you get into the training camp, you know, the more team peers, the more scenarios we want to we want to create for our guys.
01:53 And so we can teach off of it. I'm sure you had a vision of what it's going to be like.
01:57 Even better than you thought. Yeah, it is. It's actually better.
02:00 You know, I came out in the spring, you know, but in the spring, there's not the setup that we have right now.
02:04 You know, you come out here, you know, everything's set up and man, he's like, wow, you know, it's hard to vision with that, you know, seeing it beforehand.
02:11 But you see it and you're like, man, this is awesome. It's a great setup.
02:15 You know, you got so much room. I mean, that's probably the biggest thing.
02:18 You know, when you were on campus there, you know, obviously everything's a little bit tighter.
02:21 You know, you don't have as much room to spread out. You think about where we're practicing right now on campus.
02:25 You know, the one field, we've got a couple of fields out here. So we got a lot more room, you know.
02:29 So I think I think, yeah, but the setup is great. Great.
02:32 Henderson wasn't the guy you saw on tape with the Gators.
02:36 Yeah, I mean, that's what we expect out of him. You know, he's a long guy, but he really can run.
02:41 And the thing he can do is run, you know, run by some guys. And, you know, Emory really worked on the day,
02:46 really putting some air into the ball, letting him go get it. Wiggins had a great one as well on the outside.
02:51 So we've got a couple of guys that can go get that on the outside, which is good to see.
02:54 We've got to be able to complete these balls on the outside.
02:56 Just going to open up some things for the running game on the inside.
02:59 So we're going to continue to work on that. It's got to be a point of emphasis over the next two weeks.
03:03 Sammy, you look like you're having a really good start to the game. Is this what you envisioned from him?
03:07 Yeah. Oh, yeah. I got a lot of confidence in Sammy as our teammates.
03:10 The teammates do as well. He seems to be making plays. He seems to be in the right positions most of the time.
03:15 If he doesn't get the interception, he's a lot of times knocking the ball down.
03:18 He's playing with a lot of confidence right now. You can just see that.
03:21 You know, he's got a bounce in his step. You know, I mentioned this earlier, but he's a great attitude guy.
03:25 Every time you talk to him, he's got a smile on his face. You like being around him. It's contagious.
03:29 So, yeah, I really, really like what we're seeing out Sammy.
03:31 Kind of continuing off that, all the DBs look like they're playing with a lot of edge.
03:36 Is that a group that's kind of caught you off guard?
03:38 Yeah, I mean, I think, well, we're teaching them to be aggressive in the back end right now.
03:43 A couple of times, they got behind them with the deep ball today, which we can't do that.
03:48 We've got to make sure that we're not giving up those big plays.
03:50 But at the same time, we want them to think to be aggressive.
03:54 In the run game, they've got to be run stoppers. We can't be these cover guys where all we do is cover.
03:58 We're going to come up and we're going to hit the running backs.
04:01 That mentality that they have to have in the secondary is a physical mentality.
04:05 And they've got to know the edge about them. That's obviously what we want.
04:08 You mentioned Wiggins. He had a really good spring.
04:11 How important is he considering his experience in your system?
04:15 Very important. He's got a lot of poise about him.
04:19 And same with him. These guys that have played so much, Balt Briggs, these guys that are older guys,
04:23 they've got so much poise. They've been there. They've done that.
04:26 Nothing phases them out here. Just give them a scenario. Let us go play.
04:30 And Wiggins is healthy. He's feeling good. And he knows what he's doing out there.
04:35 So he doesn't have to think a lot. His legs are going 100 miles an hour.
04:39 He's a big-time playmaker. We expect big things out of him as well.
04:43 Also leadership. He's kind of a quiet guy, but he goes by example and guys look at him.
04:48 I know it's still just shells, but the guys are excited to get short hands on today.
04:52 Absolutely. No question. Especially up front and tight ends and no line.
04:56 It's hard to block when you don't have anything to grab right there, getting your hands inside
05:01 and on those shoulder pads. And you can go a little bit harder, obviously,
05:05 to get protection with their shoulders, all the guys.
05:09 And the guys are doing a good job of staying up.
05:11 I didn't see a ton of guys on the ground, which is what you want to see.
05:14 When you go watch the Bengals or these NFL teams, one thing you notice is they're not on the ground.
05:19 Everybody's staying up to keep everybody healthy, and the guys are doing a great job of that as well.
05:23 I know Gerhard's a leader that's been here at center, but to bring Luke Kander in,
05:27 he has to have a big influence based on what you guys did there.
05:30 Yeah, Luke, a very versatile guy, can play guard, can play center, brings a lot of experience
05:36 within our offense, understanding what to do. He's really tried to help the guys out.
05:40 But Gerhard's a guy who's played. He started, he's played a bunch of ball.
05:44 He's got a lot of poise too. I like the way he's playing.
05:46 But yeah, we've got some guys in there we can rotate, which is obviously what you want,
05:49 particularly at center. You want to have at least three guys in case anything happens to one of them.
05:53 How do you like to play it off the plate? It's the first day you all had pass off.
05:56 Yeah, I mean, I thought we did good. I thought we popped some good runs, particularly on the edges.
06:01 The backs ran hard today, so we go look at it.
06:03 I mean, we got a – there was a couple times in protection I didn't think we were as good as we needed to be,
06:08 particularly at the tackle position. So we got to sure that up.
06:11 But I think overall I was pleased. I thought we were able to execute and move the ball like you want to do,
06:17 especially on the first down period.
06:19 One more for Coach. It looked like the linebackers are starting to get a little bit more comfortable
06:23 with what Coach Brown wants them to do. Can you see them playing a little bit more free
06:27 and not thinking as much yet?
06:28 Yeah, I mean, you know, I feel like Dorian is definitely there. You know, Dingell is really coming around.
06:33 You know, Dingell, he's one of the faster guys on our team at 238 pounds.
06:36 You know, we got to get him playing like that. And I saw a couple of spurts today where he was.
06:40 Just really close to getting an interception there and a drill at the end, 11-on-11 drill.
06:44 So he's got a lot of talent, a lot of ability. So I'm excited about it.
06:47 As he gets more and more comfortable to really cut loose and play.
06:50 Pace is already doing it. I mean, he's cutting loose, making a lot of plays.
06:53 So, you know, yeah, I mean, we got to continue to implement that
06:57 and let those guys get a lot more comfortable to be able to cut loose.
07:00 All right.
