00:00 >> So why Oregon, how'd you end up here?
00:03 >> For sure, main thing when I hopped in the portal was quarterback.
00:08 And I talked to Bo, and we kinda clicked when we were talking on the phone.
00:13 And of course he could play.
00:14 Like even when I was at Bama, I kinda like thought he was good, but
00:17 I couldn't say that.
00:18 So, but no, yeah, that was the biggest thing, talking to Bo and
00:21 definitely connecting with the coaches for sure.
00:23 When I came to my visit, I knew it was gonna be the right choice.
00:26 >> What's that like teaming up with a good rival?
00:28 >> [LAUGH] No, it's definitely funny cuz we still be joking about like,
00:32 no, I'd be joking.
00:34 I ain't never lose to him.
00:35 So, that'd be definitely, it's good, but it never get personal or nothing like,
00:40 but it's definitely funny kinda work like that.
00:43 >> What led you away from Bama and
00:45 what do you like about the opportunity you have here?
00:47 I imagine you probably feel a little motivated.
00:49 >> No, yeah, definitely.
00:51 My situation at Bama kinda changed and I got injured and
00:55 things under the table kinda happened and there's nothing really to talk about.
00:58 But my opportunity here, I feel like I can do a lot for this program and
01:04 I feel like I can owe it to myself to do a lot for this program.
01:07 >> Did you elaborate on that?
01:08 What do you mean by that?
01:09 >> Just coming out being a ball player, making plays and
01:13 just doing what I gotta do to help the team win.
01:16 >> Do you think the familiarity with Bo and being able to joke with him and
01:19 stuff like that, do you think that's gonna help build chemistry for you guys?
01:23 Obviously, you don't have a lot of time to kinda get in sync and produce.
01:26 >> Yeah, you could say that.
01:29 Me and Bo, our blockers are right next to each other, so we talk every day.
01:33 But yeah, that could probably be a reason we, but we throw,
01:36 like even before camp, we was throwing on the weekends when everybody was gone,
01:40 stuff like that, so yeah.
01:41 >> When you look back to February and what happened,
01:44 how difficult was that situation and what did you learn from that situation?
01:50 >> It was definitely a difficult situation,
01:51 just knowing that I could have handled it a better way,
01:56 just removing myself from that area.
01:59 But it definitely showed me how to handle this type of situation if it ever
02:05 reappears again.
02:07 But now it's like February was February, we here,
02:11 about to be August, ready for camp, I'm ready to get it going.
02:13 >> Kinda like just a way to mature and grow, I guess.
02:15 >> Yeah, for sure.
02:17 >> Was the timing that tough, cuz you're trying to make a first impression?
02:19 >> No, yeah.
02:20 >> For some people it was, yeah.
02:21 >> No, it definitely was, cuz I ain't never been in trouble before, so it was.
02:25 But the truth came out and everything came out, everything was correct,
02:29 what they said, so I'm here now, so I'm glad to be here for sure.
02:33 >> Were you kinda worried about your career at that point and moving forward?
02:37 Like that jeopardized everything for you.
02:39 >> Yeah, at one point I did, but I knew kinda like once everything came out,
02:45 that everything that they said was false, and then truth came out,
02:49 I was gonna be okay.
02:50 >> How did that process start for you to get reinstated?
02:52 Was that Coach Lanning reaching out to you?
02:54 >> That was all, that was them.
02:56 I was just waiting till they call me and let me know everything.
02:59 >> Your guy that's played in SEC title game, national championship,
03:05 what do other players on the team ask you about those games?
03:08 >> A few, they would ask me how was to win the 90 and to lose the 90.
03:13 >> [LAUGH] >> So to me, I just told them,
03:18 at the end of the day, it's just football.
03:20 Of course, it's a bigger game, but you don't wanna go out there and
03:24 do something you wouldn't do on a regular week, cuz you're gonna go out there and
03:27 mess up, so just play football.
03:29 That's what I was, just play football, just do you.
