DPWH to implement emergency road repairs starting Friday night until Aug. 9
Transcript
00:00 Nearly two weeks of unrelenting rain fell on the megacity that has left major highways and roadways riddled with puddles and potholes.
00:07 So bad and deep have these major speed bumps and traffic menaces turned into.
00:12 Major repairs are in order and scheduled along a lengthy stretch of EDSA beginning tonight up to Wednesday next week that our Melalee Smores dwells on in this report.
00:27 Given the storms and monsoon rains in the past, the EDSA busway has ended up with potholes and damages.
00:33 Many drivers are complaining about this as they cause not only delay but post threats as well.
00:53 To address the situation, the DPWH is now implementing emergency road repairs,
00:59 effective tonight until August 9 from Balintawak to Buendia Avenue.
01:03 These are the areas which will have asphalt overlays and concrete re-blocking both northbound and southbound.
01:10 At the Laging Handa program, the MMDA reminded motorists to refrain from going to EDSA if possible as the repairs are expected to result to heavy traffic.
01:20 We did this one time big time, five days, to make it all complete.
01:25 We've deployed 650 enforcers to watch the area morning, afternoon and night just to make sure that our motorists will be safe from traveling from August 4 to August 9.
01:39 The agency released a list of alternative routes that motorists can take for quicker travel time,
01:44 like the following tour of fares via Skyway north to south and another one if coming from south to north.
01:51 In addition, motorists can also take the Mabuhay lanes.
01:54 Affected commuters already have backup plans.

02:15 For its part, the MRT assured it is ready to accommodate more passengers if need be amid the busway repairs.
