00:00 The Philippines' administration's aim is to advance the 5.768 trillion peso national budget for 2024.

00:09 Budget Secretary Amena Pangandaman led the transfer of the national expenditure program to the Camera.

00:15 The government's budget is asking for a higher than 9 percent

00:20 compared to the current allocation of almost 5.3 trillion pesos.

00:24 The social services budget is worth more than 2 trillion pesos, while the economic services budget is worth almost 30 percent or 1.7 trillion pesos.

00:34 The payment of debt is worth almost 700 billion pesos.

00:37 According to the Constitution, education has the largest budget in 2024, which is worth more than 900 billion pesos.

00:45 It is for free tuition for students in colleges, subsidies, and building classrooms.

00:52 The amount raised for the Transportation Department is more than double.

00:57 It is worth more than 214 billion pesos compared to the current budget of 106 billion pesos.

01:04 The bulk of the budget will go to the Rail Transport Program,

01:08 along with the construction of the North-South Commuter Railway and Metro Manila Subway.

01:13 The additional budget is worth more than 10 billion pesos, which is requested by the Social Welfare and Development Department,

01:19 along with the payment of almost 210 billion pesos for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program,

01:25 pension for poor senior citizens, and the Food Stamps Program.

01:30 The agriculture sector is added with almost 8 billion pesos,

01:35 along with additional funds for irrigation and programs for rice security.

01:41 More than half a trillion pesos is for climate change, while 200 billion pesos is for flood management.

01:49 The additional budget is expected to be more than 10 billion pesos.

01:55 Some of the agencies with the largest confidential and intelligence funds are the Office of the President,

02:01 Office of the Vice President, National Defense Department, Education Department, and Interior and Local Government Department.

02:26 According to House Speaker Martin Robaldes, the priority of the House of Representatives is to pass a budget as soon as possible.

02:40 that is pork barrel free for 2024 before we go on our first recess in October.

02:46 In a statement, Albay Representative Edsel Lagman said that the Congress should ensure that the budget is not disbursed to some favored agencies and interests.

02:57 The deliberation on the budget will begin in the House of Representatives on August 10.
