00:00 At first glance, you'd think that this is just a normal room.
00:05 But this is the background for the video calls to the target victims of the so-called "love scam."
00:11 There's a model who sits in bed and talks to the victim.
00:16 Once the victim has the trust of the victim,
00:19 they will be encouraged to invest in other modes, like the cryptocurrency scam.
00:25 Scammers, sometimes men and sometimes women,
00:30 will pretend to be a beautiful woman looking for a boyfriend.
00:35 Their target is usually white women, maybe around 50 and above.
00:41 Once they have been seduced, they will be thrown into another division.
00:46 In another part of the house, hundreds of cell phones, computers, and SIM cards are installed.
00:54 One of these cell phones will only receive money via e-wallet.
01:00 There are only a few love scam and cryptocurrency scams in the possible areas of this house.
01:07 On Tuesday night, the authorities visited the Rivendell Gaming Corporation in Pasay City.
01:14 The raiding team is formed by various agencies,
01:17 including the Department of Justice Interagency Council Against Trafficking or DOJ-IACAT,
01:23 National Bureau of Investigation, and Philippine National Police.
01:28 The Rivendell Corporation is licensed by the PAG Corps as a Philippine offshore gaming operator.
01:33 But according to the authorities, it is only a front for scam operations.
01:38 More than 600 employees were also discovered in the raid.
01:42 More than 400 of them are Filipinos, and the others are Chinese and Indian.
01:48 It is not considered that the employees are trafficking victims,
01:51 like those who were raided by other pogo hubs.
01:55 It is not a trafficking operation. It is not a rescue operation.
01:59 We have no indication that there is human trafficking that is happening here.
02:03 This appears to be a pure scam operation.
02:09 And if that's the case, everyone here could be liable for, could be criminally liable.
02:14 DOJ-IACAT suspects that the raiders are the ones who are running this.
02:19 We suspect that the big bosses are Chinese nationals.
02:22 The authorities are not yet sure if the SIM cards that were confiscated are registered under the SIM registration law.
02:29 They are already consulting the National Telecommunications Commission for this.
02:34 The inquest proceedings were also scheduled for tomorrow.
02:38 The employees who are not yet able to find evidence will be sent home first.
