Several towns in Bulacan are submerged in flood due to rains worsened by the high tide.

00:10 Dressed to the nines, Joy and her relatives walked through the flood for the baptism of
00:15 her son and niece on Sunday afternoon.
00:18 Based in Dubai, Joy says the baptism at the historic church must happen now or never.
00:23 "We decided to go ahead and prepare again because we didn't have time.

00:36 According to the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, 16 towns
00:42 have been flooded over the past three days.
00:44 Malolos, where Baraswain Church is located, is one of the towns submerged in floods.
00:50 High tide and the release of water from dams worsened the flooding caused by non-stop rains.
00:55 "The Bustos Dam and Ipo Dam, for example, if they separate, the Angat River will be
01:02 washed away and 10 towns will be affected.
01:05 In those 10 towns, flooding has really affected them."
01:11 The flooding in Malolos is minor compared with what other towns in Bulacan are experiencing.
01:17 The town of Balagtas is one of the areas hit hardest by the flooding in Bulacan these past

01:23 Despite the waist-high floods, many residents still refuse to leave their homes.
01:30 Only a few residents of Barangay Panginay heeded the government's order for forced evacuation

01:37 This, even if the waters in their community are so high, people have to use boats to travel.

01:45 Some pushed through with grocery shopping, while children played outside.
01:50 Others spent their free time bonding with friends.

01:55 There's only a limited amount of time.
01:57 Especially now, you won't be going anywhere.
01:59 Once you leave here, you won't be able to move to another place."
02:03 The local government says boats and trucks are on standby in flooded areas to evacuate
02:08 residents and help those who needed to go to work.
02:11 Meanwhile, drivers of light vehicles are advised against passing through MacArthur Highway
02:17 due to heavy flooding.
