00:00 Carnival traditions are something that's extremely important for the community
00:04 and pulls people together from all walks of life and they just gel.
00:10 You talk to people you would never ordinarily talk to.
00:13 They just rock up and they say, "Oh, hello, who are you?"
00:16 and you laugh and laugh and laugh and stumble.
00:18 That's it.
00:19 And then we're Brexhaw Lions.
00:21 We are very new members actually and thrilled to be part of it all.
00:25 Just enjoyed being here and so pleased the sun's come out.
00:29 Yes, definitely.
00:30 Yes, and I'm new too.
00:31 First time we've ever done the carnival.
00:33 Yes.
00:34 Hopefully we'll do it again.

00:38 We're a community charity and community is at the heart of what we do
00:44 and of course we take part in the local community Brexhaw Carnival.
00:49 It's an important part of what we do.
00:51 It's all part of our children, of them growing up and being part of a bigger community
00:57 which is sadly lacking in England today.

01:02 I'm the Facilities Manager at May's House, Veterans Home.
01:05 We've decided to join the carnival today.
01:07 We haven't done it for many years.
01:09 All the residents took part in putting all the decorations together
01:12 as well as some of the staff.
01:14 It's taken a long time to get it together as you can see.
01:17 We've been at it first thing this morning and it's been going on until we got down here
01:21 and we're looking forward to enjoying it.
01:23 We have some of our residents, some of our veterans in the vehicle at the moment
01:27 and hopefully they'll have a great day to enjoy the carnival.
01:30 This is the Bexhill 100's entry this year for the Bexhill Carnival.
01:36 The theme is music through the ages and we're doing the sort of the 30s, 40s, that era
01:45 but we've been doing this for many years now.
01:48 It's very important to Bexhill that people come along and support events like this.
01:56 It's a community spirit and we're all volunteers and we all love doing it.
