00:00 Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah!
00:05 Welcome to the Old Town Carnival!
00:09 Here we are then, it's carnival.
00:12 People have been thinking it's going to rain.
00:14 Of course it's not going to rain, it's Hastings.
00:16 And if it is, who cares?
00:18 It rained at Pram Race.
00:20 This is a fantastic community.
00:22 Everybody's going to come out and have a good time
00:24 because that's what Hastings is all about.
00:26 Let's dress up, let's have a few beers afterwards.
00:28 Let's enjoy ourselves.
00:30 Hello everyone and welcome to Hastings Day.
00:32 This is the Mayor of Hastings speaking, Margo Callaghan.
00:34 And what a town we've got.
00:36 Look at the rain and there's still people here
00:38 coming out to have fun and having a good time.
00:40 And it means so much to the community.
00:42 So much community effort goes into this.
00:44 It makes people really proud of their town.
00:46 And I'm really proud of the town and proud to be Mayor.
00:48 I mean we've got our businesses booming at the moment,
00:51 even though the rain's in.
00:53 I mean people just run to the pubs, don't they, and have a drink.
00:55 Or they'll go buy something in the shop while they wait for the rain to stop.
00:57 I was out at 12 o'clock today during the fancy dress competition.
01:00 People still rocked up in all the rain.
01:02 The rain doesn't stop us at all.
01:04 And I'm so proud to be a part of this.
01:06 Carnival's fantastic and you can really see the resilience in this whole town.
01:09 And I'm really pleased to be here.
