00:00:00 Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another episode of Bustin' with the Boys.
00:00:02 This is episode 232.
00:00:05 A lot of stuff happened over the weekend, obviously, the Mike Braybill podcast.
00:00:08 It is...
00:00:09 It's fucking electric, man.
00:00:11 That dude...
00:00:12 It's such a unique relationship that Will and I have with this man.
00:00:15 And you definitely see it all unfold.
00:00:17 The good times, the awkward times, the fun times, the serious times.
00:00:19 It's incredible.
00:00:20 But before we get into any of that,
00:00:21 let's talk about the durable, reliable vehicle of Chevy Silverado.
00:00:25 Summer is here, and what better way to take advantage of all it has to offer
00:00:28 than with the Chevy Silverado?
00:00:30 Chevy Silverado Summer.
00:00:32 Wait, Silverado Summer.
00:00:33 Jesus, dude.
00:00:34 I see...
00:00:35 I gotta get LASIK.
00:00:36 I gotta get LASIK.
00:00:37 It's gotta happen.
00:00:38 Silverado Summer.
00:00:39 Think of all the possibilities, from off-road adventures to DIY projects
00:00:44 and hardcore work.
00:00:46 Silverado has the capability and technology to make this summer
00:00:49 your best one ever, with nine different Silverado models to choose from
00:00:52 and engines that range from the powerful Turbo Max to the 6.2 liter V8
00:00:58 and the Duramax diesel.
00:00:59 You can count on Chevy Power Performance to get anything done.
00:01:05 Like many of you, we've been hitting the road a lot lately,
00:01:07 and it seems like everywhere we go, there's an army of Silverados
00:01:11 and Silverado owners.
00:01:12 So, shout out to all of you.
00:01:14 Game, recognize game.
00:01:15 Head over to Chevy.com to check out the Silverado and all Chevy trucks,
00:01:19 the official trucks of Bustin' with the Boys.
00:01:21 Dude, I just let him in on a little glimpse.
00:01:23 Obviously, we had the Bravo podcast.
00:01:26 It literally just happened like six seconds ago.
00:01:28 And I think it's a hilarious pod where we're like kind of bouncing
00:01:32 all over the place.
00:01:33 Like, it starts off awkward.
00:01:36 Feel a little uncomfortable because we like legit don't even know how
00:01:40 to start it because Rabil does have multiple personalities when it
00:01:42 comes to me and Will.
00:01:43 At one moment, he's your best friend.
00:01:45 The next moment, he's like punishing you verbally.
00:01:48 There's no question in my mind that I felt like he wanted to fight me.
00:01:50 At one point in this pod.
00:01:52 When he was talking.
00:01:53 Yes.
00:01:54 That's the Ohio in him, though.
00:01:55 He's like, yeah, I think he's starting to get serious.
00:01:57 He fucking wanted us.
00:01:58 I thought you were getting serious, too.
00:02:00 No, I don't.
00:02:00 Once I saw the look in his eye, I was like, okay, let's come.
00:02:03 It is a small quarters.
00:02:04 He's got a long reach.
00:02:05 Like, got to figure out my distance.
00:02:07 Yeah, but all is fair in love and war.
00:02:09 Like, I think you'd handle that.
00:02:10 The problem would be Rabil would swing first because I'm thinking in
00:02:15 my head, like, what am I going to do?
00:02:16 Fucking just try to go after Rabil right now?
00:02:18 Yeah.
00:02:19 Yeah, that would have been.
00:02:20 You know what I mean?
00:02:21 That would have been a tough fucking.
00:02:22 And then I feel like if he's swinging first, I'm at a disadvantage.
00:02:25 Because he's got reach.
00:02:26 Like, you've seen him.
00:02:27 You've seen him try to mess around at practice with guys.
00:02:29 Long arm motherfucker.
00:02:31 It's a healthy respect.
00:02:32 I'm sitting there.
00:02:33 I was like, fuck, dude.
00:02:34 He's.
00:02:34 Take it easy.
00:02:35 We're joking.
00:02:36 You just got to get in the body real quick and you'd handle your business.
00:02:37 But it's about getting to the body.
00:02:39 Right, right.
00:02:40 Yeah.
00:02:40 Into the body, get into the ground fast.
00:02:43 But I really, truly enjoyed that podcast through and through.
00:02:46 Yeah, I know in the beginning, it's hilarious.
00:02:49 I can't even, like, remember the beginning.
00:02:51 But yes, I was feeling the same vibe.
00:02:53 Like, when he sat down, I'm like, you know, where do we kind of.
00:02:56 We start off on this.
00:02:57 I know.
00:02:58 And then there was like 10, 15 minutes of us just peppering him with serious questions.
00:03:01 And he's like, when the fuck did you guys get serious?
00:03:03 Like, when did that happen?
00:03:04 And I was like, all right.
00:03:04 Yeah, you're.
00:03:05 It's a nod of respect.
00:03:06 It is because there's a lot of news surrounding the Titans right now that people want to get into.
00:03:10 Yeah.
00:03:10 And Vrave is somebody who, you know, we feel like we have the relationship and the rapport with him to where he'll answer those questions.
00:03:16 So you kind of, I'm thinking of myself, like, it's good to ask those questions.
00:03:19 I feel like he'll give us more than what he would, you know, anybody else he's talking to.
00:03:24 Yeah, I agree with that.
00:03:25 But yeah, man.
00:03:25 Sitting there in the most fucking alpha posture of all time.
00:03:28 Just, he was laid out all over the couch, the table.
00:03:31 He was getting cozy on this damn bus.
00:03:33 He making himself at home.
00:03:34 Yeah, he's the best, man.
00:03:35 He's, it's just funny how the relationship is built like over time.
00:03:39 Like, it's like I was excited to talk about some of the old stories, but even as I was trying to deliver them and I'm thinking about them, that's when the nerves are kicking in.
00:03:46 Like, hey, have you seen some of the Kevin Bayard clips?
00:03:50 Yeah.
00:03:50 Like.
00:03:50 Because it was a body session.
00:03:52 That I hated you.
00:03:53 Yeah.
00:03:54 It's, it was awesome, man.
00:03:56 I feel like we need to get to this pod.
00:03:58 ASAP, but let's hit some tear talk and, not tear talk.
00:04:01 Shout out, no free shout out, Pepe.
00:04:03 Mm.
00:04:03 That's a good idea.
00:04:04 You guys do that?
00:04:05 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:04:05 Let's do shout out, no free shout out.
00:04:08 Boys in the back, do we have any shout outs back there?
00:04:09 Before, hang on.
00:04:10 What'd you guys think of the pod?
00:04:11 Epic.
00:04:13 As a Titans fan, it's so fun to be around Vrayble.
00:04:16 He's, we were just talking about it, like, probably the coolest and best coach in the NFL.
00:04:20 He's my favorite Titans coach ever.
00:04:23 Second being Jeff Fisher, but Vrayble is all time.
00:04:27 If you're a Titans fan, you're going to absolutely love this episode.
00:04:30 Mm.
00:04:31 JP?
00:04:33 Yeah, you know me, man.
00:04:37 I'm a hard Titans fan.
00:04:38 Love Vrayble.
00:04:38 Was a big Patriots fan during his time there.
00:04:41 Was a Texans fan when he was with the Texans.
00:04:45 So it's been, it was cool.
00:04:46 Great, great football talk.
00:04:47 It was cool to see y'all's dynamic, because we always hear about it via group chat.
00:04:52 And we got to see the group chat come to life, which was dope.
00:04:54 What'd you guys think of the dynamic the whole time?
00:04:56 Could you feel, definitely at the beginning, there's no question.
00:04:59 Definitely at the beginning, there was—
00:05:00 But throughout the pod, are you feeling like, you know, you can tell?
00:05:04 There's a couple things I'm sitting there talking through, and I'm like, I was nervous.
00:05:08 The beginning, 100%.
00:05:09 It was like, oh my gosh, because right before the pod, right before you got here,
00:05:14 Will's like, y'all know, I mean, when Vrayble shows up, I'm going to shuttle up ASAP.
00:05:18 Do whatever he says.
00:05:19 Yeah.
00:05:19 And then it just folds out in real time.
00:05:21 You're like, oh no.
00:05:22 We had said something and laughed about it.
00:05:24 And then I was like, but you guys also know me.
00:05:26 Like, right when Vrayble shows up, I'm about to shuttle up.
00:05:28 I did.
00:05:30 It was nerve-wracking.
00:05:32 Like, there was a point where we started talking about 2018, how Vraybles was an asshole.
00:05:35 And then you looked at Vraybles and goes, these are his words, not mine.
00:05:37 I'm thinking, oh fuck.
00:05:38 Am I speaking out of turn?
00:05:40 Like, literally in my own head.
00:05:42 Once you said, you said like, unfair, I think is the word you said.
00:05:45 Like, there are some times where you were unfair, and then that's when I looked over at Vraybles.
00:05:47 I'm like, those are his words, not mine.
00:05:49 Just let your boy out the hang, dude.
00:05:51 But it ended up, it went exactly how our group chats go with him.
00:05:56 Yeah.
00:05:56 It's just awkward, then it's fun, and then it's, it gets serious at times.
00:06:00 It was.
00:06:01 Yeah.
00:06:01 Oh, we all know we're clearly joking.
00:06:02 Let's continue to have fun and banter back and forth.
00:06:04 Oh, wait a minute.
00:06:05 Is something getting serious in here?
00:06:06 Oh, wait a minute.
00:06:07 I don't know if I want to respond to this.
00:06:08 Yeah.
00:06:09 Hey, are we cool?
00:06:10 Can't just walk away.
00:06:11 Can't just leave the chat, put your phone down.
00:06:13 Then you just get told like, stop being fucking sensitive.
00:06:15 And then I'm like, yo, what do you mean?
00:06:17 No doubt, dude.
00:06:19 No fucking doubt.
00:06:21 But yeah, let's hit the shout out, no free shout out in pet peeve of the week.
00:06:24 JP, shout out, no free shout out.
00:06:27 Oh, do you not have one?
00:06:28 Oh, man.
00:06:30 My shout out, no free shout out goes to, it happens in the spring, in the summer,
00:06:37 probably more so, actually happens all year round.
00:06:39 But my shout out, no free shout out goes to a good hard sneeze.
00:06:44 When you like truly just feel that it's from the chest.
00:06:50 And it just feels cleared out.
00:06:51 You feel like, God, I needed that.
00:06:53 So that's my shout out, no free shout out.
00:06:55 Hell yeah.
00:06:59 Mine goes along with our activity from last night.
00:07:03 But shout out, no free shout out to free concert tickets.
00:07:06 Damn.
00:07:07 It is.
00:07:08 It's so elite.
00:07:09 Once you get in the venue, you're like, okay, I didn't spend any money on tickets.
00:07:13 So like I can spend as much as I want to on some beers or like a merch item, whatever.
00:07:18 And on Friday night, I went to Ascend Amphitheater with some friends for Young The Giant.
00:07:22 And I don't even really care for the band that much.
00:07:25 Like they're good objectively, but they're not in my daily rotation.
00:07:29 And I thought I was gonna get a free ticket and didn't.
00:07:32 And I ended up paying $80 to go to this show that I really didn't care to be at.
00:07:36 So getting the free ticket to Blink was, I feel like it leveled it out.
00:07:41 I like spent like $40 and $40.
00:07:43 Yeah.
00:07:43 But yeah, shout out to free concert tickets.
00:07:45 And obviously that was gonna be my shout out as well.
00:07:48 But I'll change my shout out, but I just want to add on to your shout out.
00:07:51 Like I want to give a shout out to The Predators.
00:07:53 Yeah.
00:07:53 'Cause Brandon, who works with The Predators, he works with their media group.
00:07:57 I reached out to him about possibly purchasing a suite for the event.
00:08:00 Hit me up on Wednesday and he's like, "Hey, do you still need a suite?"
00:08:03 And I was like, "Yeah."
00:08:04 He's like, "Call me."
00:08:04 I called him and he goes, "Hey, I went up the chain of command.
00:08:08 Predators want to thank you for everything you've done for us.
00:08:11 And we're gonna give you the suite for free."
00:08:12 And I thought that was like cool as fuck.
00:08:15 Like it was just awesome.
00:08:16 Like going to see Blink, obviously my favorite band of all time and all that.
00:08:19 I was like very, very grateful for that.
00:08:21 So shout out The National Predators as well.
00:08:23 The whole organization.
00:08:25 They're incredible.
00:08:26 So that's my add on to Jax.
00:08:28 My shout out and free shout out this week.
00:08:33 It's pretty simple.
00:08:34 Just getting a new haircut, just a fresh haircut.
00:08:36 You just feel like a new person.
00:08:37 You feel like you got a little bit of your swagger back.
00:08:39 You just feel more confident in yourself.
00:08:41 Shout out, fresh haircuts.
00:08:43 Hmm.
00:08:43 God, Garrett is like the number one culprit of that.
00:08:48 Nice one, Mitch.
00:08:50 Willie?
00:08:51 My shout out and no free shout out goes to picking a good booger.
00:08:58 Go on.
00:09:00 Picking a good booger.
00:09:01 I feel like this first, when people first absorb that, it's kind of like,
00:09:06 "Oh shit."
00:09:06 But also I think we all have to understand at this point that literally
00:09:10 100% of people pick their nose on the sly or they get caught.
00:09:14 But there's nothing like picking a good booger.
00:09:16 Like when you got, there's different boogers now.
00:09:20 When you got them dry boys like right at the top here and you can just
00:09:23 kind of get the thumb out with it.
00:09:24 There's ones that kind of hang back a little bit and you got a nice,
00:09:27 it's got a nice little lag when you get a pull down.
00:09:28 It kind of just like weirdly comes out deep from the nostril and you're
00:09:32 like, "Yo, that might be a PR."
00:09:34 Yeah.
00:09:35 But then there are some downsides.
00:09:36 Like when you get the ones that are kind of just running, they're all
00:09:38 around your nose and you feel like you just can't, it's like a
00:09:40 never-ending trying to get it out.
00:09:41 That sucks.
00:09:42 But all in all, I've always been a massive fan of nose picking.
00:09:48 So my shout out note for shout out is going to go to picking a good booger.
00:09:51 I think you open a lot of people's eyes with that one.
00:09:53 In a positive way?
00:09:55 In a positive way.
00:09:55 Okay.
00:09:56 Because you know, picking a booger is a faux pas.
00:09:57 Yeah, I feel like it's a, there's, it's like a massive closet fan base,
00:10:01 right?
00:10:01 And you just kind of need that one like, "Yo, fucking picking boogers is,
00:10:05 we all do."
00:10:05 Everyone's like, "Oh, him too?"
00:10:06 Yeah.
00:10:07 And it's all good.
00:10:07 Yeah.
00:10:08 Yeah.
00:10:08 I love that.
00:10:09 My shout out note for shout out is going to go to the nod you get from
00:10:14 another man as you walk by on the sidewalk.
00:10:16 Mm.
00:10:16 Just everything's fucking understood.
00:10:18 You don't even know him.
00:10:19 You've never spoken to him in your entire life, but you see him and you
00:10:22 guys just give the head up or the head down and you just keep going about
00:10:25 your business.
00:10:26 But every, there was a whole conversation there.
00:10:27 A whole fucking conversation.
00:10:29 You said a lot without saying anything at all.
00:10:30 Exactly.
00:10:31 I've actually thought about that recently.
00:10:34 Like the relationships you have with people without knowing their name,
00:10:37 what they do, like anything about them, but you see them, you know,
00:10:41 throughout the week, whether it's the gym, coffee shop, whatever.
00:10:44 But you have that kind of that nod of just like, "What's up, bro?"
00:10:47 "What's up?"
00:10:48 You just, yeah.
00:10:48 If you've seen him a couple of times or for me, I'm a big like, "Hey, how's it
00:10:51 going?" guy.
00:10:52 Sometimes you're just walking, maybe I'm walking the dog because I keep up
00:10:54 my hand out like this.
00:10:55 And I look at a guy and he fucking looks up at me and we catch eyes.
00:10:58 We just both give him one of those.
00:11:00 It's like, "Brother, you have a fantastic fucking day."
00:11:02 Like what a deal that is.
00:11:04 So that's my shout out note for shout out.
00:11:05 That's a solid one.
00:11:07 Thank you, boys.
00:11:08 Thank you.
00:11:08 Thank you.
00:11:09 Isn't it funny too on the booger thing that...
00:11:12 That artist.
00:11:15 Hey, have any of y'all ever seen me pick my nose?
00:11:18 Yeah.
00:11:19 You have?
00:11:19 Do what?
00:11:22 Oh, JP's used that one before?
00:11:25 Oh, CTE, man.
00:11:27 Chalk it up.
00:11:28 Continue though on your thought when you put your booger.
00:11:31 My thought was going to be like, okay, say you have seen me, but I think it's
00:11:35 funny too. Like I've never really seen you guys do it, but we all just know
00:11:40 that we all do it.
00:11:41 Isn't that wild?
00:11:42 Oh, I don't know about that.
00:11:47 What?
00:11:48 Oh.
00:11:50 Like, no, you can't have this.
00:11:56 I mean, you're cleaning yourself as is.
00:11:59 Yeah.
00:11:59 Yeah.
00:12:02 No, I think when there's one like right where the bone is and it's right up
00:12:05 there, like almost blocking like airway and you can't get out there and you
00:12:09 just scoop that thing out.
00:12:10 Like that thing.
00:12:11 You're also...
00:12:12 Yeah.
00:12:13 The slide out that little, that little hang back.
00:12:15 In the shower, you're like essentially washing your hands.
00:12:17 I feel like already.
00:12:19 Just kind of...
00:12:20 No, but it doesn't give that like picking it, picking your nose is low-key
00:12:24 in a very minimal way, like a Q-tip in your ear.
00:12:27 Like you get that shit done.
00:12:28 You're like, oh, fuck like that.
00:12:30 My day got better.
00:12:31 I felt something good about that.
00:12:32 In the shower, it's like you're just, you're just taking care of business.
00:12:35 You're cleaning yourself.
00:12:36 Sometimes you feel one up there and then you, I don't know about you guys,
00:12:38 but I think of myself.
00:12:39 Let me stop.
00:12:40 I'm going to take some private.
00:12:41 I'm going to get in some, some peace and quiet before I get this boy out.
00:12:44 You know what I mean?
00:12:45 Like I'm not, this isn't one you just picking.
00:12:47 Yeah.
00:12:48 Yeah.
00:12:48 Yeah.
00:12:49 There's something in there.
00:12:50 There's something in that one.
00:12:51 I'm going to take my time with this one because I don't want it to be rushed.
00:12:53 Dude, one that I love because I, I don't know if you guys get this, but I'm
00:12:56 like right at the base in the middle.
00:12:58 Sometimes it'll get a little raw.
00:13:00 Like you do that.
00:13:01 Like it kind of scabs up a little bit.
00:13:02 I get that change of the seasons.
00:13:04 Yeah.
00:13:04 And I've had that recently for like two weeks.
00:13:07 It's been bugging the fuck out of me about my right nostril, but it'll get
00:13:10 like backed up in here and I'll find my private space, start digging around and
00:13:15 you kind of feel it like gathering together.
00:13:17 Feel the edge of the scab kind of comes where you're like, you kind of want to
00:13:19 peel it and feel.
00:13:20 Yeah.
00:13:20 Yeah.
00:13:21 But if you start to rip it a little bit, you're like, oh fuck.
00:13:23 Like now I'm in pain.
00:13:24 Now I'm in pain.
00:13:25 Bleeder.
00:13:25 But you got it.
00:13:26 You kind of get the boys all congregating together in one unit and then you give
00:13:30 it the, and that fucking explosion that comes out.
00:13:34 It's like, I don't know about the explosion part.
00:13:36 Really?
00:13:36 Never done that one.
00:13:37 Oh, that's just a big booger.
00:13:38 I'm going to collect them all and then is that?
00:13:40 Yeah.
00:13:40 Yeah.
00:13:40 You're like kind of in there and you're like, you go in for one because you
00:13:43 know, one's there, but he's got a couple of buddies with him.
00:13:45 You didn't know about you walked into a room.
00:13:47 You thought it was one individual.
00:13:47 It's actually a multiple individual.
00:13:48 Yeah.
00:13:49 That thing for me and I can get them kind of together, you know, tie them up
00:13:54 and then fucking send them out.
00:13:55 That to me is like a refreshing feeling.
00:13:57 What scares me when I send them out.
00:13:59 What scares me when I send them out is that I'm not going to get to see him.
00:14:02 Like it might not hit my when I'm like I hit a snot rocket.
00:14:04 I'm like, damn.
00:14:05 I kind of wanted to see the oh, you want to see I want to see the trophy.
00:14:08 One of my number one lies in life is when I just get a random bloody nose.
00:14:14 Everybody's like, hey man, how's you got a bloody nose?
00:14:17 I'm like, yeah, I don't know how that happened.
00:14:18 Massive boogers with me.
00:14:21 You always got to lie about it.
00:14:23 Always got to lie.
00:14:24 Especially when you're young, too.
00:14:25 I feel like you just dig in that nose.
00:14:26 You just start bleeding.
00:14:27 You're like, oh, what's going on?
00:14:28 You're like shoving fucking.
00:14:29 It's like the altitude or something.
00:14:31 We're in South Carolina.
00:14:33 I don't know what the fuck happened.
00:14:34 Being like a kid, like not to pivot, but like when you're younger, like farting,
00:14:39 like getting a good fart out, like a lot of people be like, yo, don't don't do that
00:14:42 around here.
00:14:43 And then he's as you get older, like Hugh, especially, like just farting all the time.
00:14:47 Like you get a good fart out.
00:14:49 You can't like your stomach's hurting a little bit.
00:14:50 You're like, is this a shit?
00:14:51 Is this not a shit?
00:14:51 And then you let out a big fart.
00:14:52 You're going to feel so much better.
00:14:53 That's a fucking.
00:14:55 That was similar to the booger.
00:14:57 Farts are awesome.
00:14:58 Yeah, those are scary farts.
00:15:00 What a pod.
00:15:01 Pet peeve.
00:15:02 JP, do you have a pet peeve of the week?
00:15:05 Yep.
00:15:05 Peeve of the week.
00:15:06 My peeve of the week is, you know, like I guess there's two seats to the toilet.
00:15:13 Like the full cover and then the one you sit on.
00:15:16 So it's the second one that you sit on when you're pooping.
00:15:19 If when you lift it up to go pee and it doesn't stay up and it just
00:15:24 continuously falls down, it makes me so mad.
00:15:28 You see that one in there's got it.
00:15:29 Not it doesn't have it.
00:15:30 It stops, but some like it has like a little bit of lean forward, but you know,
00:15:36 you can trust that, you know, you can count on it.
00:15:37 Yeah, but I think what bugs me the most is that like people live in those houses
00:15:41 and they use that every single day and just like let that fly.
00:15:45 And think the same thought probably every time.
00:15:48 Right?
00:15:49 It's like, yo, it takes five seconds to fix this.
00:15:51 Now feel the wrath of the stream everywhere.
00:15:55 Clean it up later.
00:15:56 My ass probably wouldn't.
00:15:59 No.
00:16:01 Yeah.
00:16:01 Yeah, it will happen to me probably and I'm not gonna say it.
00:16:04 I got one.
00:16:07 This might be our first ever seasonal pet peeve.
00:16:11 Oh.
00:16:11 So in the spring and fall, I do not abide by this rule, but in the summer and
00:16:16 probably mostly the winter, my pet peeve is people who choose to sit outside at
00:16:21 restaurants in the middle of summer.
00:16:23 I I'm a sweater.
00:16:26 I just sweat profusely, especially when I'm outside in Nashville.
00:16:30 It's like 90 degrees and someone who will make the decision to sit outside in
00:16:35 the sun for an hour and a half while you eat.
00:16:37 I might be alone on this one, but I remember when we were in Vegas and me
00:16:41 you and JP went and got breakfast at that spot and they were kind of like
00:16:44 pushing us or like if you want to sit outside like it'll be quicker.
00:16:47 We're like, no, I will wait and then they're like, all right, come this way,
00:16:50 but I don't know.
00:16:52 I just when it's too hot outside.
00:16:54 I want to see I want to be able to enjoy my food.
00:16:56 I don't want to walk out with back sweat and like, you know, pit stains, but
00:17:00 when that fall weather comes around and it's a nice crisp 70.
00:17:04 Yeah, get me outside in the scenery.
00:17:06 I love question.
00:17:07 So yeah, that's my pet peeve.
00:17:09 You're not alone Jack.
00:17:09 My pet peeve of the week.
00:17:13 It's something that I noticed last night and it's happens a lot when you're
00:17:18 out like at like some sort of event.
00:17:20 It's the people that are just non-stop taking videos that they're never going
00:17:24 to watch again.
00:17:25 Like you can take like one or two of like maybe like your favorite songs, but
00:17:29 like you shouldn't be recording the entire show because you're never going
00:17:34 to watch it again.
00:17:34 Like live in the moment put your phone down have some fun like enjoy the
00:17:39 people around you enjoy the scenery and everything like you're not going to
00:17:42 fucking watch the video of the concert through the phone again.
00:17:45 That is no lie.
00:17:47 That is no lie.
00:17:49 They say zero photos last night.
00:17:51 You guys saw the text and you were and you probably had the best time ever.
00:17:53 I did except for that one girl.
00:17:55 Yeah.
00:17:55 Yeah.
00:17:56 Yeah.
00:17:58 Yeah, pet peeve of the week is women that are get too drunk and they hit on
00:18:02 you in front of your wife and steal your shit.
00:18:03 That's what that's a that's an easy pet peeve.
00:18:05 What's that?
00:18:09 It's being handsome.
00:18:10 Yeah.
00:18:11 Yeah.
00:18:11 My pet peeve is going to go along with the food thing.
00:18:16 I can't stand when like if you're on a date and you're ordering an appetizer
00:18:22 and the appetizers uneven amounts of whatever it is.
00:18:26 So like we got dumplings recently and there was five and it's like who's
00:18:29 getting third dumpling.
00:18:31 And so you kind of wait and you play like the no, you got it.
00:18:35 No, you got it back and forth and eventually you're like, yeah, I'm like
00:18:39 yeah, give a six or four right equality.
00:18:43 Yeah with that.
00:18:44 We were at a sushi spot me JP and will in New York.
00:18:47 I feel like that happened every single role and it was like in my head.
00:18:52 I'm like, I want this fucking food.
00:18:54 But I'm like, I go ahead will and then I knew we'll got that when I was like,
00:18:57 I go ahead JP.
00:18:58 I'm like, I know I'm getting this next one.
00:19:00 I'm just hoping it's the best one.
00:19:01 Honestly selfishly.
00:19:02 I gave up that last real quick.
00:19:05 So y'all got it.
00:19:06 That one fucking pissed me off.
00:19:09 Dude, sear chin.
00:19:10 It's gross as fuck.
00:19:11 Just overpriced.
00:19:13 Lily just a booger.
00:19:14 That's all that is.
00:19:15 Yeah, you do yours.
00:19:18 I'm still thinking about mine.
00:19:19 My pet peeve of the week is going to be when you pull your gym shorts out
00:19:23 of the dryer and your drawstring is tucked inside the fucking waistband
00:19:29 not where it's like half an inch but like three four inches away and you're
00:19:33 like dude, I got a fucking work to get this shit.
00:19:38 You're doing this the whole way across until you finally inchworm that
00:19:42 motherfucker across you can get that thing out and then you got to pull it
00:19:44 and then you got to re-stretch it and then sometimes you get the twofer where
00:19:48 the motherfucker goes back in.
00:19:50 Oh, you pull the drawstring out and then you go to re-stretch.
00:19:53 And then it slides back in.
00:19:54 Yeah, and then it slides back in just it doesn't even have to then it goes
00:19:57 in just a little bit where you know, it's kind of easy.
00:19:59 Babe, I just fucking did this with you like while we doing this again.
00:20:02 Yeah, hoodies too.
00:20:03 Yes, hoodies too bro.
00:20:04 I don't even feel bad about that.
00:20:07 Oh one yeah one super long the other ones on your fucking top of your head
00:20:09 and you're like dude, what are we doing?
00:20:11 Because shorts I feel like you get some sometimes not favorable material,
00:20:16 but you know, like when it has like that little plastic tip to where you
00:20:19 can kind of grab it as you're like guided through on the hoodie when you're
00:20:24 messing with like a hundred percent cotton or something like that.
00:20:26 I feel like you the hoodie so much fucking takes so much more time.
00:20:30 Yeah, and it just pisses you off because I started like tying my
00:20:34 tying my hood.
00:20:36 Oh for real before I put in the washer.
00:20:38 That's smart.
00:20:39 That's like that's how I is that way that move that's you've been in the
00:20:42 game for a while and you figure that out on your own like I'm thinking
00:20:45 that I'm tired of being sick and tired.
00:20:47 Yeah, do you know what that plastic piece on the end of the shoelace or
00:20:50 your drawstrings called?
00:20:51 An Agla.
00:20:54 Yes.
00:20:54 I had to look it up to make sure I said it right but an Agla.
00:20:57 It's always a fun little shit.
00:20:59 Educational pod.
00:21:01 Yeah, I know that
00:21:04 my pet peeve is
00:21:06 when that green text pops up in a group chat.
00:21:10 And you got that one fucking douchebag of a friend who has an Android
00:21:16 Google phone.
00:21:18 I don't even know what they're called.
00:21:20 I don't even know what the other phones are called.
00:21:21 But when it's not an iPhone and it's not I message is not light blue when
00:21:25 that green pops up dude.
00:21:26 It's like I don't know.
00:21:28 It's like when you
00:21:29 you know,
00:21:36 yeah, you know what I'm fucking saying.
00:21:38 Yeah, amen.
00:21:40 And then a video sent to the group or a picture that shit comes in this
00:21:43 big.
00:21:44 Yeah, I can't even fucking or when you know, somebody likes it and then
00:21:48 it says like Taylor Leone like this message and I'm thinking like Taylor's
00:21:52 got an iPhone.
00:21:53 I know it ain't him.
00:21:54 Yeah, but it's the green text special in that green text pops up in a
00:21:58 group chat.
00:21:59 You're just thinking who's the motherfucker that wants to ruin the day
00:22:01 today.
00:22:01 They just got a you just leave them out and tell them later.
00:22:06 I think yeah, it is one of those deals man.
00:22:10 The green text messages.
00:22:13 Just pisses you off.
00:22:16 Yeah, it's it's the it kills all vibes.
00:22:18 That being said,
00:22:21 let's get to this my favorite podcast.
00:22:24 I'm all his dragon.
00:22:26 No, I'm just I got it.
00:22:28 I'm hungry.
00:22:28 Oh, this is more me just be like I want to eat.
00:22:31 Yeah, very percent.
00:22:33 Hangry.
00:22:33 I feel him.
00:22:34 Yeah, a couple times.
00:22:34 It's like coming to a dead.
00:22:35 He's like what's next?
00:22:36 He's like fuck.
00:22:37 I don't know.
00:22:38 He loved that pod.
00:22:41 Yeah, yeah, they just tell stories.
00:22:45 Are you like trying to work on like you're trying to say something
00:22:47 thinking you're going to get like the response you're wanting out of him.
00:22:49 Yeah, I can I was already thinking about when I was talking about
00:22:53 bitching about the trash time going in for the bills game and he's just
00:22:55 kind of like looking at me like you're mad you're playing.
00:22:58 Yeah, you know, but you know, that's what I was bravely.
00:23:01 Nobody wants to do that.
00:23:02 Nobody wants to trash.
00:23:04 And but I thought he I thought he was for sure going to react with the
00:23:07 Belichick thing.
00:23:08 I thought we were going to get him.
00:23:09 I know I know because my next thing like when he started he started to
00:23:14 say something about I was gonna bake so, you know, you know what the
00:23:16 nickname is because somebody did say that or they or it was talked about
00:23:19 about him and then somebody asked him about it at a interview like the
00:23:22 next week.
00:23:23 I haven't heard that a whole lot.
00:23:24 I like that.
00:23:24 You brought it up because I want to see how he handled it.
00:23:26 He held it.
00:23:27 Well, he handled it.
00:23:28 Unfortunately, like the best way you can like be like, I didn't even
00:23:32 know I knew about that.
00:23:33 Yeah, and very be hype dude.
00:23:34 If like if I was a head coach and I just beat you at even some of your
00:23:38 own games.
00:23:39 I'll be on the sideline like hype is fuck.
00:23:41 Yeah, I'm him.
00:23:42 You be like my home.
00:23:42 Yeah, I'm him.
00:23:44 Shake that hand after the game.
00:23:46 Just like yeah, motherfucker.
00:23:47 Very well talk shit, dude heavy in games.
00:23:51 I remember being out there and the play hasn't even started yet and I
00:23:54 could hear a very well talking shit to a DB or a linebacker.
00:23:57 Yeah, and the other team like he's that's him.
00:24:00 So but it was really enjoyable to have him on.
00:24:03 We got to get him on again.
00:24:04 Yeah.
00:24:05 Yeah, he's good.
00:24:06 You think he's going to come on during the bye week?
00:24:07 No, I don't but he did say he would.
00:24:12 Yeah, and so we'll send him a fine.
00:24:13 The good thing is he came late.
00:24:15 So we have that over his head.
00:24:18 Yeah, just for some negotiating.
00:24:20 We don't have to pay him anymore.
00:24:22 Yeah, technically depending what our price is for the fine.

00:27:09 She is, isn't she?
00:27:10 Funny.
00:27:11 This is exactly how I thought this spot would start.
00:27:13 Our relationship with you is so unique and Will and I would talk about it all the time.
00:27:18 Because you do a great job of being a head coach and then pivoting.
00:27:24 Which one do you want?
00:27:25 And then being a boy.
00:27:26 What's the best flav?
00:27:27 Strawberry banana.
00:27:28 I guess it's better warm.
00:27:33 Room temp.
00:27:36 Room temp.
00:27:37 Goes down better that way.
00:27:38 But what were you saying?
00:27:41 I was saying that this is exactly how I thought the pod would go.
00:27:44 Like at the beginning of this pod, just like getting into the whole thing.
00:27:46 Because, like we've talked about this pod before, 2018 Vrabes and 2023 Vrabes are two totally different Vrabes.
00:27:52 No.
00:27:54 A little more rough around the edges at first.
00:27:56 Trying to implement a culture.
00:27:58 So at first, bullets were flying.
00:27:59 There was a bunch of smoke out there.
00:28:01 We're just trying to figure out who the new guy is around here.
00:28:03 Knees bent, head on a swivel.
00:28:05 On a swivel.
00:28:06 And so you're thinking, "Okay, this coach is an asshole."
00:28:08 I'm excited to see how you're going about.
00:28:11 And then, but like—
00:28:12 No, I get where he's going.
00:28:13 As the relationship grew, it's like, you do a good job of doing this.
00:28:17 Kind of, "Hey."
00:28:18 You're in, out, like you're chirping, and then you're being a boy, and then you're yelling.
00:28:25 It is a tough place to navigate.
00:28:27 Is that—
00:28:29 From this perspective of being a head coach.
00:28:31 And having played and having kids that are 23, 21.
00:28:36 I mean, it's like, what's enough, what's not enough.
00:28:40 Still got, you know, I think the one thing that I've tried to do is
00:28:43 make connections, but still hold guys accountable.
00:28:47 However that may be.
00:28:48 Did you find that difficult when you first started?
00:28:50 Like when you—
00:28:51 You were at Ohio State first, right?
00:28:52 Yeah, different.
00:28:53 I mean, different in college.
00:28:55 I mean, it's much different, but
00:28:56 I don't think I coach any differently at college than I did in Houston or here.
00:29:01 I think it's just—
00:29:02 grows.
00:29:03 Just like your guys' podcast has grown.
00:29:06 There's more responsibility.
00:29:08 There's more appearances.
00:29:10 There's more that you do the higher up that you go.
00:29:13 Yeah, obviously you're—
00:29:14 You become a head coach when you came to the Titans.
00:29:16 Like, what do you feel like you've learned the most since that first year?
00:29:19 That you can plan for a lot of things, but
00:29:22 there's some things that you can't plan for.
00:29:25 There's always going to be
00:29:26 distractions.
00:29:28 There are always going to be things—
00:29:29 just being flexible.
00:29:30 Being willing to say, "Hey,
00:29:32 you're going to have to move away from your
00:29:34 script."
00:29:35 You know, I think some of our best practices were the ones where
00:29:38 we just went out there and we put the ball down, said, "Call it."
00:29:42 First and 10, second and three, third and eight, whatever it is.
00:29:45 Now we're down in the red zone
00:29:46 or it's fourth down.
00:29:48 I mean, those are where you—
00:29:50 that's where the game's played.
00:29:52 So I think realistically, it's just being—
00:29:53 being able to adjust and be flexible.
00:29:56 With that
00:29:57 comes awareness.
00:29:59 Do you feel like there are some moments or situations in that first year that
00:30:02 brought that awareness up that's like,
00:30:03 "I got to do it a little bit differently the next time this happens"?
00:30:08 I mean, I think that that happens either in the first year, the second year,
00:30:11 you know, every year.
00:30:12 You're always trying to learn.
00:30:13 You're trying to figure out
00:30:14 what's best for the team,
00:30:16 you know,
00:30:17 what's good for practice,
00:30:19 what's good for
00:30:20 certain player, veteran guy, young guy.
00:30:23 I mean, I don't think you ever have any— the answers.
00:30:26 You try to hire a staff, you try to make changes and,
00:30:29 you know, try to get everything
00:30:31 perfect and then
00:30:32 go out and practice.
00:30:34 But I don't know if there was any like one
00:30:35 moment.
00:30:37 I mean, hell, our first game,
00:30:38 it was an eight-hour game
00:30:40 in Miami.
00:30:41 Two two-hour rain delays.
00:30:42 That—
00:30:43 - That was brutal. - Didn't cover that in the coaching manual.
00:30:47 So,
00:30:47 I mean, we wouldn't remember
00:30:49 Matusak and
00:30:51 Akers were going up on the third deck to buy like
00:30:54 mini pizzas.
00:30:55 Really, really.
00:30:56 Guys were starving.
00:30:57 - You went night— - That was brutal.
00:30:59 - You went night-night so you didn't remember that game. - Yeah, I did go night-night.
00:31:01 Up and out.
00:31:02 I was out there.
00:31:03 - Knees bent head on a swiv. - Was not on a swiv there.
00:31:06 - But dude, so— - I was—
00:31:07 You saw me, I was finishing the ball.
00:31:09 - But ever since that day— - You were finishing the ball
00:31:10 and the guy with the bar, you're like, "Whoa."
00:31:11 - Yeah. - "I'm all set."
00:31:12 - Yeah, all set, sleeping. - That was blindside.
00:31:14 That was when they put the blindside block in.
00:31:16 Yeah, I think the next year is when they implemented the rule.
00:31:19 - I'm— - I think they implemented it
00:31:21 - after the game. - after the game.
00:31:23 They're like, "We're not doing that anymore."
00:31:24 That was a wild situation.
00:31:26 That whole game in general,
00:31:27 because then Delaney broke his leg also.
00:31:29 We literally go out.
00:31:30 I think it was like
00:31:31 two minutes left in the first half
00:31:33 when they had a rain delay.
00:31:34 So we literally went out
00:31:36 - and had to do two minutes. - Two minutes.
00:31:37 To just start, it's like—
00:31:38 We were in there practicing,
00:31:39 walking through in the locker room.
00:31:40 Yeah.
00:31:41 We literally—
00:31:41 I've never been a part of a game where you're like,
00:31:43 "All right, just take your pads off.
00:31:44 Everyone relax."
00:31:45 We're not going anywhere for a while.
00:31:46 - I know. - It was stressful.
00:31:48 It was wild.
00:31:49 And it was halftime,
00:31:49 then we went back out.
00:31:51 - Another two hours. - Another storm delay.
00:31:52 It was nuts.
00:31:54 - Yeah, that was a wild— - But anyway.
00:31:56 You bring up—
00:31:56 Speaking of the rules,
00:31:58 over the last few years, what rules—
00:32:00 what rule have you hated the most that's been implemented?
00:32:05 What rule?
00:32:06 It's a good question.
00:32:09 I mean, I think that the rules have always,
00:32:11 you know—
00:32:12 I don't know if I hate any of them.
00:32:13 I think that,
00:32:14 you know,
00:32:15 you talk about defenseless receiver.
00:32:17 Like, I think the players have changed
00:32:19 their behavior.
00:32:21 I think for the good.
00:32:21 I mean, you look at some of those NFL film clips,
00:32:24 even from like
00:32:24 10 or 12 years ago,
00:32:25 and you're like,
00:32:26 "My God."
00:32:27 Yeah.
00:32:28 - Like— - Yeah.
00:32:29 But I give credit to the players for changing their behavior,
00:32:32 lowering their target.
00:32:34 I think that's a good rule.
00:32:35 You know, we'll see where the kickoff thing goes.
00:32:39 We'll see how that,
00:32:40 you know, adjusts,
00:32:40 and does it affect,
00:32:41 you know,
00:32:42 the ability to return football.
00:32:44 I think the teams will still—
00:32:45 you know,
00:32:45 I'm sure you have a
00:32:46 take on it being,
00:32:48 you know,
00:32:48 we all played special teams,
00:32:50 so
00:32:50 kickoff still needs to be a part of the game,
00:32:52 and—
00:32:53 and I think it will.
00:32:54 But
00:32:55 when you look at the analytics and the numbers,
00:32:57 just trying to do something to—
00:32:59 to help the players and the safety of it.
00:33:02 So,
00:33:03 I don't know if there's been any rule changes that I've—
00:33:05 that I've hated.
00:33:06 What about as a fucking football player guy?
00:33:09 Not as a head coach.
00:33:11 Early 2000s dude.
00:33:12 Yeah, I'll remember there was one year where—
00:33:14 I don't know if it was 2020,
00:33:15 but—
00:33:17 'cause you always do a good job of like coaching within the rules
00:33:18 and be like, "Guys, I fucking—
00:33:20 I trust me, I hate it, I disagree, blah, blah, blah,
00:33:22 but this is how we have to do it."
00:33:23 I want to say it was maybe—
00:33:24 maybe D-backs or people coming in to—
00:33:26 to—
00:33:27 to cut.
00:33:27 - Might be climbing on pullers or something like that. - Yeah.
00:33:30 That was kind of like,
00:33:31 "Man, what the fuck you want these guys to do?"
00:33:33 Yeah, but—
00:33:34 but what—
00:33:34 I mean, you look at that,
00:33:35 and that hasn't affected the plays.
00:33:37 I mean, these tackles,
00:33:38 these guys can still get out on the edge,
00:33:40 but the tackles didn't like when those guys would go
00:33:43 low at them.
00:33:44 And so what it's done is it's forced them to slow down.
00:33:47 Right? 'Cause if they keep going, Taylor,
00:33:49 then the DB just sticks and avoids.
00:33:51 - Yeah. - Right? We talked about that.
00:33:52 We saw Christian Fulton
00:33:53 stick and dip underneath and
00:33:56 make a play.
00:33:57 But then if the lineman comes to balance
00:33:59 and just gets in the way,
00:34:00 well, then the collision isn't that bad.
00:34:02 So I don't think it's affected—
00:34:03 really, the one that's affected it
00:34:05 has been on those—
00:34:06 those slip screens,
00:34:08 where you used to have to go out there and throw,
00:34:10 and you had no chance.
00:34:11 Yeah.
00:34:11 - You just had to get in the way. - You just didn't throw at the guy.
00:34:13 Yeah.
00:34:14 He—
00:34:14 and so there really— those aren't—
00:34:16 haven't been really good plays around the league,
00:34:18 and I think probably that one
00:34:19 has been the only one that's affected—
00:34:21 has been affected by that.
00:34:23 The toss cracks, the perimeter runs,
00:34:25 and some of those screens,
00:34:27 you know,
00:34:27 hell, it's kept Ben—
00:34:29 it kept Ben's uniform clean for a couple years
00:34:31 because he'd just go out there and belly flop.
00:34:32 - It'd be— - On the front side.
00:34:33 Every single time.
00:34:34 It'd be just grass staying out there on the front side of those screens.
00:34:37 So,
00:34:38 that one—
00:34:38 and I think Taylor will—
00:34:39 will agree that
00:34:40 if you didn't go out there and—
00:34:42 and throw at the guy,
00:34:43 you just weren't going to be able to get the—
00:34:44 the DB on that.
00:34:45 No, especially with all that space.
00:34:47 Right.
00:34:47 If they're up a little bit more, like,
00:34:48 path screen or something like that,
00:34:49 it's a little bit easier.
00:34:50 But they're out there.
00:34:51 - Yeah, so— - You run trick or trailer or something like that.
00:34:53 And we coach to them.
00:34:54 We coach to whatever the rules are and try to—
00:34:56 try to help everybody and
00:34:58 take—use them to our advantage.
00:35:00 - We done. - That's a good job.
00:35:03 - That's a good job. - Yeah, you're doing a good job pivoting.
00:35:05 That was—you're—you're very well-spoken.
00:35:07 Well, like, dice it up a little bit.
00:35:09 Let's go.
00:35:10 Yeah, as a football fucking player guy,
00:35:12 which rule do you hate the most?
00:35:13 Give me fucking three options.
00:35:15 Like, I don't even—you know what I mean?
00:35:16 Like, what are we talking about?
00:35:17 - Targeting? - Quarterback—
00:35:19 - Probably— - Being around—
00:35:20 Probably a thing for you as a player that was, like, hard to—
00:35:23 - Being around the knees of the quarterback? - Yeah.
00:35:24 When you're rushing? Being a pass rusher?
00:35:26 You—we pay these guys $50 million.
00:35:29 At the time, you weren't paying nobody.
00:35:30 - You were a player. - We—we—
00:35:31 - You were rushing the pass rusher. - Yeah, I wouldn't have liked that one.
00:35:34 - You would have hated it. - You know what I mean? Like—
00:35:36 But, like, you gotta protect these guys.
00:35:39 What do you want to see all the quarter—nobody's gonna watch.
00:35:41 - You told me to give you options, brother. - Quarterback do you watch?
00:35:43 Okay, and I tell you, I don't mind
00:35:45 the quarterback being protected below the knee
00:35:48 and above—you know what I mean?
00:35:49 Outside of pocket, where are we going on a quarterback?
00:35:51 - Low. - Thank you, Taylor.
00:35:53 - You're welcome. - Yo.
00:35:53 - Thank you for— - Just gotta be coachable.
00:35:55 - Thank you for paying attention in the team meetings. - Yeah, yeah.
00:35:57 Hey, we gotta talk about the team meetings.
00:35:59 Like, that was
00:36:00 your first year, the most terrifying shit.
00:36:03 - Because you— - Just the whole boom.
00:36:04 - Do you listen to me? - Growing Bullets, you're asking me defensive questions?
00:36:07 - That's it. You're all in the same meeting. - You're nuts, dude.
00:36:09 Did you happen to listen to any of our Kevin Byard episode?
00:36:11 No.
00:36:12 I haven't listened to any of—I only listen to mine.
00:36:14 That's—
00:36:14 Okay.
00:36:17 - That's right. That's part of the course. - Have you had any other ones?
00:36:19 - Yeah. - No, we—I was—
00:36:21 - I've heard a couple hundred since then. - Oh.
00:36:22 Yeah.
00:36:23 I was referencing the KB one 'cause we were talking about how much, you know,
00:36:26 it sucked
00:36:27 - that first year playing for Braves. - Yeah.
00:36:29 - Compared to years—years later. - It didn't suck.
00:36:31 - It was just—you weren't used to it. - It sucked.
00:36:33 That's—that's your perspective.
00:36:34 - But I'm—we're saying as players. - It sucked.
00:36:36 We go in the locker room, we're like, "This fucking guy.
00:36:38 Tough."
00:36:39 - Fair. - Yeah.
00:36:41 - No, what you're saying—my opinion's fair? - You—
00:36:43 - Or are you saying butt fair? - No, butt fair.
00:36:45 Okay.
00:36:45 Like—
00:36:46 Or no.
00:36:47 I wouldn't say you were extremely fair
00:36:50 in 2018.
00:36:52 - I—here's what I thought. If I could— - It says words.
00:36:54 - Hey, it says words, coach. You know that? - Don't do that.
00:36:58 - Get Taylor's stuff. - No.
00:36:59 - Get the bag. Get the bag. - No, don't get the bag.
00:37:02 - Get the bag. - Don't get the bag.
00:37:03 Jack, bitch, you work for us.
00:37:05 - Don't get the bag for us. - I'm gonna show you how fair I am.
00:37:07 I brought the rest of your stuff in February—
00:37:09 February 27,
00:37:11 2023.
00:37:12 - Taylor was thanking the Titans for bringing their stuff. - Yeah.
00:37:15 - I do appreciate that. - I brought the rest of the stuff.
00:37:17 Can I open this?
00:37:18 There's nothing in there. It was just a prop.
00:37:20 - Just a prop. - I needed—I just put it together.
00:37:22 - I thought there'd be something nice in there. - It's why I was like—
00:37:23 - A gift basket or something. - I was thinking on the top of it.
00:37:25 Yeah.
00:37:25 But 2018,
00:37:27 here's my perspective looking at it zoomed out.
00:37:30 Right.
00:37:30 New coach, head coach,
00:37:32 implementing the culture he wants to implement,
00:37:34 came from the Bill Belichick tree of the Patriots.
00:37:36 You're walking into a very loose—
00:37:38 were we young then? Was 2018, we were a young team?
00:37:40 - I mean, there's a real piece of the bag. - No, no. You had vets.
00:37:42 - Yeah, we had some vets in there. - We wasn't too young.
00:37:44 - No. - It wasn't too young.
00:37:45 But a good mix. And I feel like—
00:37:46 - Delaney was in there. - —in college,
00:37:48 a head coach comes in.
00:37:50 He's weeding out the weak immediately.
00:37:52 - He's cutting the grass to find the snakes. - Trimming the fat.
00:37:54 Yeah.
00:37:54 And I feel like that's where you went.
00:37:56 At what point did you think,
00:37:58 "Okay, I've got a good grasp of this culture"?
00:38:00 Because I respected absolutely—
00:38:02 and I've said this before on record—
00:38:04 that nobody complained, nobody bitched.
00:38:07 You know, we got buy-in from Jarrell,
00:38:10 from Rak, all those guys on defense,
00:38:13 and from the guys on offense.
00:38:17 So Delaney, I mean, it was like—
00:38:19 it was easy for me,
00:38:21 because it was like, "These guys,"
00:38:23 you know, I said, "They're going to hold
00:38:25 the best players the most accountable," and
00:38:28 we tried to do that, and I thought it sent a good message,
00:38:30 and guys didn't bristle, guys didn't like—
00:38:32 because you—
00:38:33 I think I tried to make it
00:38:35 relevant to coaching. It wasn't just a
00:38:37 "to bitch, to bitch." Like,
00:38:39 "Taylor, we're going to get to the line of scrimmage."
00:38:42 Whether Taylor wanted to get to the line of scrimmage,
00:38:45 eventually he got to the fucking line of scrimmage.
00:38:48 But that was our, like, little pissing contest when we first got there.
00:38:51 - Yeah, there was a lot of conflict before cooperation with you and me.
00:38:54 - But it was fine.
00:38:55 - Yeah, no, it worked out great.
00:38:56 - Great. - Yeah.
00:38:57 But it was tough that first year.
00:38:59 - What's it like coaching a guy like Taylor,
00:39:01 and then coaching a guy like Ben Jones?
00:39:02 - Well, I think I respect—
00:39:05 the one thing I have done is I've respected
00:39:07 there's a lot of different personalities,
00:39:08 and there's a lot of ways to get your job done.
00:39:10 And I have a great relationship with Taylor,
00:39:12 great relationship with Ben.
00:39:14 And, um,
00:39:15 but, I mean, hell, they're opposite as can be.
00:39:18 I mean, it's like,
00:39:18 Taylor, I realized, just—
00:39:21 Taylor wanted to bitch just to bitch sometimes,
00:39:24 because that's who Taylor was.
00:39:25 But it wasn't like he never did the work.
00:39:27 It wasn't like he didn't put the work in.
00:39:29 It wasn't like he didn't run or lift or whatever.
00:39:31 He just,
00:39:32 like, "OK, Taylor, we know you're here.
00:39:35 You don't really have to tell us that you're here.
00:39:37 We know you're here."
00:39:37 But it was fine, and I didn't have a problem.
00:39:40 I mean, it was like,
00:39:41 we asked him to do something, he did it, he worked hard, he ran,
00:39:46 he was at the front of the pack, you know what I mean?
00:39:47 It was like,
00:39:48 so I didn't—
00:39:49 but that's who Taylor is.
00:39:51 It's like, we respected it and,
00:39:53 you know, want to lift this way?
00:39:55 OK, yeah, you know,
00:39:56 modify the workout.
00:39:57 Who gives a shit?
00:39:58 Just get in the weight room.
00:39:59 - Was that always— - Right? I mean, that's—
00:40:01 - No, yeah, that's definitely— - That's fair.
00:40:02 - That sounds about right. - I'll—
00:40:03 I bring up literally you and Ben.
00:40:04 You're sitting here.
00:40:06 We were just talking about you,
00:40:07 and then I think Ben, because you guys are very different.
00:40:09 - Yeah. - So it's almost like figuring out,
00:40:11 communicating with players when you're—
00:40:13 when you're more so not as much the coordinator or position coach anymore.
00:40:16 When you're the head coach and you—
00:40:17 you probably have to maybe listen a little bit more versus being like,
00:40:20 you know, just fucking do this or run to the head man
00:40:22 if you want to fucking change something.
00:40:23 - Yeah, I will— - You know what I'm saying?
00:40:24 - Mm-hmm. - I would always notice, like—
00:40:26 like, if I'm a coach,
00:40:28 I'm confiding in Ben a lot more than confiding in me.
00:40:30 Ben is like,
00:40:31 as trustworthy as they come,
00:40:33 as tough as they come,
00:40:34 knows all the plays.
00:40:35 Literally, he could—
00:40:36 I'm— correct me if I'm wrong.
00:40:37 He could probably sit in a coach's meeting, an offensive meeting,
00:40:40 and tell everybody what they're doing.
00:40:41 - But he was— - As a center, you have to.
00:40:43 - You like, as an inside linebacker, - Yeah.
00:40:44 you know everybody's job.
00:40:45 You know what— where the front's supposed to be.
00:40:47 You know what the coverage is supposed to be.
00:40:48 I mean, the center has to know
00:40:50 where everybody's blocking.
00:40:52 I used to love when
00:40:53 Keith would be in there and he'd ask, like,
00:40:56 the left guard, the rookie left guard,
00:40:58 what the right tackle has on 18.
00:41:01 - Yeah. - Quattro.
00:41:02 And I'm like,
00:41:03 thinking to myself,
00:41:04 "What fucking difference does it make?
00:41:05 Ben's just gonna tell everybody what to do."
00:41:07 - No question.
00:41:07 - Ben, like— - B, C, triple.
00:41:10 - Yeah. - Man reach.
00:41:11 Let's go.
00:41:12 - And then with, like—
00:41:13 but looking at that,
00:41:14 Ben's no longer on the team, like,
00:41:15 Brewer is a great football player.
00:41:17 - Correct. - And you know, he's like—
00:41:18 you said it yourself,
00:41:19 tough as a $2 steak,
00:41:20 not the best guy at enunciating,
00:41:22 a little more quiet than Ben was.
00:41:24 Like, is that—
00:41:25 is that something you've worked on during OTAs with him?
00:41:27 - Well, again,
00:41:27 last year we went through a situation
00:41:30 where on a short week going to Green Bay,
00:41:34 on the road,
00:41:35 Brewer had to play center.
00:41:36 - Mm-hmm. - Four days.
00:41:37 And I saw—
00:41:38 saw him over the course of four days,
00:41:41 prepare, communicate,
00:41:43 get those guys ready to go,
00:41:44 all the way up until we left
00:41:46 the hotel from Green Bay.
00:41:48 You know, those short weeks,
00:41:49 you're cramming in everything you can.
00:41:51 And
00:41:52 it was like,
00:41:53 that's exactly what we're looking for.
00:41:56 You're going to be different from Ben.
00:41:57 You're going to lead differently than Ben.
00:41:58 But we're going to need you to lead.
00:42:00 Like, that's what the center has to do
00:42:02 in the offensive line.
00:42:04 - Brewer's awesome, dude.
00:42:06 - Brewer is awesome. - Have you been around Brewer?
00:42:07 - I mean, a little bit. - Yeah.
00:42:09 - The second—
00:42:10 the second time, what was that, 2021?
00:42:12 - Yeah.
00:42:12 - He's just— - Second stint?
00:42:13 - The second stint.
00:42:14 - Try to work on a—
00:42:16 - The second— - Right here.
00:42:17 - Yeah, the second stint when you, you know,
00:42:18 you had to cut me.
00:42:19 And I didn't hear— - It's a number.
00:42:21 - It's a number. - And I didn't hear from you.
00:42:23 - It's a numbers thing.
00:42:24 - I didn't hear from you either. - We brought you back.
00:42:25 - Yeah, but I never heard from you the day of the cut.
00:42:27 - Oh, you didn't go to his office? - We're going to get back the next day.
00:42:29 - Yeah, but I never heard from you.
00:42:31 You didn't have the strength to bring your boy in and cut him.
00:42:33 - You were going to be in the meeting the next morning.
00:42:35 We re-signed you.
00:42:36 - I had to weigh my options.
00:42:37 - Oh, yeah, okay.
00:42:38 - Option A or option A?
00:42:41 [Laughter]
00:42:44 - I had to weigh my options.
00:42:44 - When you cut Will, you didn't bring him to the office or anything like that?
00:42:47 - I didn't get a phone call, you know, like,
00:42:49 "Hey, when would you like to—"
00:42:51 No, I got snipped.
00:42:53 Neutered.
00:42:54 - That's tough. - Any old-fashioned way to do it.
00:42:56 - But you've been through it a couple times.
00:42:57 They probably thought, "Oh, this guy's got tough skin.
00:42:59 He's been here."
00:42:59 - Yeah, it's just fucking brutal. - "I'm in time again."
00:43:01 - For me, they had to massage me in.
00:43:02 They were like, "Hey, we know this is going to happen."
00:43:05 - No, it's still fucking tough, man.
00:43:07 I didn't get cut. - "You're coming back.
00:43:08 We brought you back, and then we elevated you after that."
00:43:10 - Yeah, yeah.
00:43:12 Ravens game.
00:43:13 - Speaking of cutting guys, what's, like, the most awkward—
00:43:16 or is there a situation there was a guy, like, just livid,
00:43:18 yelling, screaming mad,
00:43:20 or, like, an awkward situation when you're cutting somebody?
00:43:22 - I mean, this is—
00:43:23 you know, this is—
00:43:24 this is tough.
00:43:25 I haven't been through it as a player.
00:43:27 You know, you go all the way through training camp.
00:43:30 I mean, it's like—
00:43:32 you spend a lot of time with guys, even more so than regular season.
00:43:35 Like, the training camp is, like, long days.
00:43:37 You know, and it's just like, you know that things are going to happen,
00:43:41 and you can only keep so many guys.
00:43:43 And I think just, you know—
00:43:44 you just try to put yourself in their position
00:43:47 and try to be as respectful as possible and, you know,
00:43:50 be as honest as you can.
00:43:52 I think I've always tried to be honest.
00:43:53 I think our organization has tried to be honest and say,
00:43:56 you know,
00:43:57 "We would like to bring you back on the practice squad."
00:44:00 Or there's been numerous times where we've said,
00:44:02 "We're probably not going to have a spot for you on the practice squad."
00:44:05 And I think players at least appreciate the honesty,
00:44:07 so they know where they stand.
00:44:10 - There's never been a guy that lost their mind?
00:44:13 - I mean—
00:44:15 - You don't have to say names, but have you had a couple experiences?
00:44:17 - Fairly—
00:44:18 you know, I mean, there's been—
00:44:19 you know, in five years, there's been
00:44:21 maybe one or two where,
00:44:23 you know—
00:44:24 - Gets a little dicey.
00:44:25 - Yeah.
00:44:26 Called Jeb.
00:44:26 - Jeb's not going to do shit.
00:44:28 - Exactly.
00:44:29 - Yeah.
00:44:30 - Fall stretch.
00:44:30 - No.
00:44:31 - Yeah.
00:44:31 - It hasn't been anything.
00:44:33 - I think the year before you got there, like
00:44:35 2017,
00:44:37 some guy got cut.
00:44:38 He went to the sauna, pissed on the rocks in the sauna, and for weeks—
00:44:41 - No sauna.
00:44:42 - The sauna was—
00:44:43 it just smelled terrible in there.
00:44:45 - So I think I was 12, and we had like an overnight stay at like the
00:44:49 tennis and racket club back in Akron, Ohio.
00:44:52 Like, Friday night, like kids' night or whatever.
00:44:54 And they locked the doors until like 6 in the morning, so you like
00:44:58 run around a racquetball courts or firing the, you know,
00:45:02 racket balls at everybody.
00:45:04 And
00:45:04 so I remember in the sauna, and some dude pissed in the sauna,
00:45:08 and the instructor came in,
00:45:10 big meathead.
00:45:11 And he wouldn't let us leave the sauna until—and I'm like, "Listen,
00:45:15 I'm fucking fat, and I'm sweating, and it's midnight.
00:45:19 You need to own up to this shit, 'cause we're—he kept us in the sauna, like,
00:45:22 we're just like
00:45:23 withering away—
00:45:24 - Smelling it.
00:45:25 - Until the dude finally said,
00:45:26 "It was me.
00:45:28 Thank God," and like we all went rushing out of the sauna.
00:45:31 - What an embarrassing situation for that guy.
00:45:33 To sit there with a bunch of kids and be like, "I—"
00:45:35 - Did you threaten the woman?
00:45:37 - No, I mean, I think it was like he was probably older.
00:45:40 And I mean, I was like—
00:45:41 - You were still 12, like—
00:45:42 - Yeah, awkward 12.
00:45:44 - 12's a tough year.
00:45:45 11, 12, 13's just awkward.
00:45:47 - You know, you know, you know Vrave growing up in Ohio, like
00:45:50 Vrave's got some stories.
00:45:51 - Mullet.
00:45:52 - There's no question.
00:45:53 - Mullet, rocked a mullet.
00:45:55 It was—
00:45:56 What was it like being a dad having 12, 13-year-olds
00:45:59 finding themselves?
00:46:01 You know what their search history looks like on the
00:46:03 Explore page?
00:46:04 - Yeah, it's like,
00:46:05 Jen,
00:46:06 like,
00:46:07 three, four, five, six knocks, like, if the door's locked.
00:46:11 Why is the door locked?
00:46:12 We know why the door's locked.
00:46:13 - Long showers.
00:46:14 Yeah, that's fucking—
00:46:16 That's a tough deal.
00:46:17 - Yeah, it sounds like quarantine.
00:46:19 It sounds like quarantine for you.
00:46:20 - You ever caught one of them?
00:46:21 You ever caught one of them tugging it?
00:46:22 - Hell no.
00:46:23 I would deny it if I did.
00:46:26 - Yeah?
00:46:27 - So you did?
00:46:28 - No, I didn't.
00:46:29 No.
00:46:29 No.
00:46:30 No.
00:46:31 - It's definitely Carter.
00:46:32 - No, I meant—
00:46:34 I've—
00:46:36 I've caught Carter, but not Carter tugging it.
00:46:40 - Yeah, not in the middle of the deal.
00:46:43 - Somebody else was probably tugging it.
00:46:45 - Oh.
00:46:45 Hey, dad has got to be—
00:46:48 As a dad, you're kind of like, "Hey,
00:46:49 nice."
00:46:50 But at the same time, you're like, "You can't do that in
00:46:52 this house."
00:46:52 - Yeah, no, you can't do that.
00:46:53 - I had one of those situations with my dad one time.
00:46:56 - Where he caught you?
00:46:57 - Yeah, like, there was nothing like that.
00:46:59 We were kind of just like kissing on my bed and her
00:47:01 shirt was off.
00:47:02 I was like a senior.
00:47:02 We were just kind of kissing in the bed.
00:47:04 - He went into the mic and was like kind of kissing.
00:47:06 - You know, I was just tearing up my denim.
00:47:10 I was kind of like, you know, and then all of a sudden I
00:47:12 hear loud footsteps and I thought, "Oh, fuck.
00:47:14 It's over."
00:47:15 And then my dad walked in.
00:47:16 - He blew into the covers a little bit.
00:47:17 - He goes, "You, get out."
00:47:18 She gets out and he's like, "Hey."
00:47:20 - You talk about the walk of shame.
00:47:22 - Oh, she was rattled for days.
00:47:25 But he kind of like low-key gave me a fist bump.
00:47:27 It was like, "You should have been working out.
00:47:29 You should have been training for football."
00:47:30 Like gave me a whole talk on how to stay focused on ball
00:47:32 and all that.
00:47:33 - Right move, right move.
00:47:33 - It's kind of the deal, man.
00:47:34 Ladies and gentlemen, we interrupt this episode yet again
00:47:37 for another ad read and that ad read is...
00:47:39 - One of our favorites.
00:47:40 - One of our favorites.
00:47:41 - We don't like to play favorites.
00:47:42 We don't like to play favorites.
00:47:43 - That's true.
00:47:43 - So I take that back, but also...

00:48:45 - Back to this episode.
00:48:47 We're back rolling.
00:48:48 A little bit of technical difficulties.
00:48:50 That kind of is nice, though.
00:48:51 A little nostalgic feeling because when we first started
00:48:53 with "Brave On The Bus," we always had stuff like that.
00:48:56 - What?
00:48:57 - Train going by.
00:48:59 - Oh, the gravel road.
00:49:01 - Nerves.
00:49:01 - Nerves.
00:49:02 - You guys have upgraded.
00:49:04 This is nice.
00:49:04 - We're a better spot now.
00:49:06 - Yeah.
00:49:06 Things have been rolling.
00:49:07 - I forget that the last time, yeah, you were like one of
00:49:09 the first five episodes.
00:49:10 - Was it first five?
00:49:11 - First seven, eight, one of them.
00:49:14 - That was, I will tell you, that was like a breath of
00:49:16 fresh air when we asked you to come on.
00:49:18 You were like, yes, because that's like the biggest,
00:49:20 nervous thing is when you ask.
00:49:21 - I was absolutely terrified.
00:49:22 - Yeah, we had Travis Kelce on last week, and he was talking
00:49:25 about when he started his podcast, how Andy Reid would
00:49:29 feel, and then Andy Reid went on, he felt a whole lot better.
00:49:32 And that literally was a massive like win for us when you
00:49:35 came on.
00:49:36 Obviously, you boosted the numbers.
00:49:37 I hate giving you flowers.
00:49:38 - I know.
00:49:39 - He knows, he knows he did.
00:49:40 - But you did say.
00:49:41 - It's about fucking time.
00:49:44 - Yeah, you did say you would cut off your dick for a Super
00:49:47 Bowl.
00:49:48 Now, if we're going in order, that year we went to the AFC
00:49:50 Championship. Between the Baltimore Ravens game and the
00:49:54 Chiefs game, they asked you about cutting your dick off and
00:49:57 you said no.
00:49:57 And so do you feel like you ruined our chance at a Super
00:50:02 Bowl?
00:50:02 - I don't know.
00:50:03 I think it was just, you implied there was a joke.
00:50:05 - I was excited.
00:50:06 I got caught up in the moment of the pod and I was, like I
00:50:10 said, I was just trying to give you guys some clicks.
00:50:12 - You did.
00:50:13 - You really did.
00:50:14 That was nice.
00:50:17 - I want to say like, because Jalen came on after him, right?
00:50:20 - I can't remember.
00:50:21 - I believe he did.
00:50:22 - Let's just say the bar was set.
00:50:24 - Yeah.
00:50:24 - Put it that way.
00:50:25 - Yes.
00:50:25 - And then it gets beat.
00:50:26 It gets beat.
00:50:27 I'm okay.
00:50:27 - How did you feel when we had started the podcast at first?
00:50:33 Because it was fairly newer, especially for players doing
00:50:36 it then. Because you guys had just paid Taylor a boatload
00:50:38 of money.
00:50:39 - Appreciate that.
00:50:40 - I mean, I think we just said, just can we not do it during
00:50:43 the season or whatever it was?
00:50:44 I don't know.
00:50:45 - We could have a sit down conversation about it.
00:50:47 - Yeah.
00:50:47 - I don't know if it was me that came to you or...
00:50:49 - Because the Delaney one popped off and that was like an
00:50:52 IV story that he told and it's like, oh, Titans.
00:50:54 - Yeah, because Todd got pissed.
00:50:54 - Training room, IV, whatever.
00:50:56 And so you had to make an example about like, hey guys,
00:50:59 they can take anything that you say and make it into a report.
00:51:02 - Right.
00:51:03 And it's just, this is a long conversation and wherever it
00:51:07 goes from here, but the point was that the players, it gets
00:51:13 going to get spliced up and it's going to get cut and edited
00:51:15 by these guys and who knows what's going to come out.
00:51:19 - You know, you wanted to say something.
00:51:21 - I did.
00:51:22 - You wanted to say something.
00:51:23 - I did.
00:51:23 I wanted to say slap dicks.
00:51:25 - But you didn't think, you didn't have much of a thought
00:51:29 on it at all.
00:51:30 You didn't really care?
00:51:31 - No, I didn't care.
00:51:33 No, I mean, I was like, thought it was going to fall flat
00:51:37 on its face, but I didn't care.
00:51:39 - I really had no idea what was going to happen.
00:51:43 - I was like, see how this goes, but I didn't care.
00:51:47 I don't think I had like a, I mean, it gave me like, it was
00:51:49 like free ammunition.
00:51:50 I could just give you guys shit at any point.
00:51:52 - That was tough.
00:51:53 - That was, yeah.
00:51:54 - Literally the first year, every team meeting, I was like,
00:51:56 man, I hope something doesn't come out about the pod.
00:51:58 I was just praying about it.
00:52:00 Man, you took your time.
00:52:03 You did it a few times.
00:52:04 - It was, I didn't want to like wear it out.
00:52:06 I wanted to make sure that it was worth it.
00:52:08 - The second time around, I feel like I was more nervous
00:52:11 about it for the second stamp because I'd have to come in.
00:52:13 - Well, because you had been going heavy on social and
00:52:15 then it was like, look at my clicks and I came back.
00:52:19 I got you pretty good that time.
00:52:21 - God, you're talking about your little presentation.
00:52:23 - Yeah, presentation.
00:52:25 - But you watched it.
00:52:26 - Social media presentation.
00:52:27 - Let's not get it twisted now.
00:52:28 You watched all the content.
00:52:30 - No, I didn't.
00:52:31 - You would come in the next day.
00:52:32 Hey, Will, how was the Wendy's burger?
00:52:34 - I have people that do that for me.
00:52:36 - No.
00:52:37 - Here, Dennis, hang on.
00:52:39 - There's no way.
00:52:40 - Here we go.
00:52:40 You know how many people we have on staff that do that?
00:52:43 - Come on.
00:52:43 - Vraves.
00:52:44 - Vraves.
00:52:44 - Here's what I'm going to say.
00:52:45 - Can you sit in your office?
00:52:46 - Hang on, I got this.
00:52:46 I got this.
00:52:47 - Okay.
00:52:48 - So, the first year.
00:52:49 - I guess he's in charge.
00:52:51 - Listen, brother.
00:52:52 - Don't let him do it.
00:52:52 - I don't want to do it.
00:52:53 - I guess he won.
00:52:54 - Just because I have a real-
00:52:55 - I don't even want the power struggle.
00:52:56 - No, I have a real life example.
00:52:58 - You're giving it back to him?
00:52:59 - I'm just, no, I'm fucking, hey, make sure the boy is not-
00:53:02 - Okay, that's a little.
00:53:02 - He's getting you right.
00:53:03 - You're right.
00:53:03 - He's getting you right.
00:53:04 - You're right.
00:53:04 - Just do you.
00:53:05 - You're telling me you don't have the balls to stand up to him?
00:53:07 - Don't, Vrave-
00:53:07 - Wait, hey, Team Keys, you saw in the group chat.
00:53:10 Don't let him get too confident.
00:53:11 Don't let him get too confident.
00:53:12 - I know.
00:53:13 But we were about to play Washington and LeFleur, like, had me in a meeting when they were breaking down, like, what the defense is doing because Minuski was still the DC, yada, yada, yada.
00:53:24 And Vraves was in the meeting.
00:53:25 And we're, like, sitting there.
00:53:28 Blaine was next to me, Vraves on my left.
00:53:30 And there were, I won't say any names, but Vraves showing me, like, a couple stories, like, look at this motherfucker, dude.
00:53:36 You know this shit is so, you know, either this ain't true or, you know, it ain't going down like that.
00:53:40 And he's, like, he shows me his phone and I see that my man's on Instagram.
00:53:43 So from that moment, I always knew, like, Vraves, he's a tier three, man.
00:53:49 He's a little closet.
00:53:50 He likes the content.
00:53:51 - You surf the web and that's okay.
00:53:52 - I don't like the content, but I like to know what's going on.
00:53:57 - And you also like-
00:53:58 - That's a little bit of a different story than you were just saying, because usually you have people for it.
00:54:02 - Oh, yeah.
00:54:02 - Real world experience.
00:54:04 - Because he poured his fucking heart and soul into that story.
00:54:07 At least I got to give him a little credit.
00:54:08 - Is it not true?
00:54:09 - The first blog I wrote, you take a screenshot, can't wait to read more from the shitter.
00:54:14 - I did.
00:54:15 I mean, I just like to know, so I can have some ammunition.
00:54:18 - Any of my tweets, if I get out of line a little bit with Twitter or I get too much on the moral, like, on the moral, like, oh, what are you, the fucking moral police?
00:54:26 No, you said something, I remember. It was something about like-
00:54:28 - We can go back through.
00:54:29 - Tell me about the Darren Bates thing, your mindset after-
00:54:32 - Well, that was more so, that was like a different example, and I was fucking terrified for my life, because I had taken the video of DB in the locker room.
00:54:42 We had the linebacker room, like, if you were injured and you were like doing walkthrough, but not practicing.
00:54:47 - Oh, yeah.
00:54:47 - You kind of know what you're trying to do as a player.
00:54:49 It's like, I see you trying to take these walkthrough reps, but you're not actually trying to fucking get in there and practice.
00:54:54 So you would essentially, I bought this neck brace off Amazon that you'd have to wear around if you just did the walkthrough and not the practice.
00:55:01 And so when DB had his yellow jersey on for a walkthrough, that when he came back in the locker room, I like threw it at him, like, hey, you got to put this on.
00:55:09 And I was like filming in the locker room.
00:55:11 Vrave hits me up like maybe nine o'clock at night.
00:55:14 It was a little bit later. I'm sitting there, I'm watching-
00:55:16 - Right before bed.
00:55:17 - Yeah, and he's like, he sent me the link.
00:55:22 And then he goes, you think this was smart? Putting out essentially like, you know, something injury related on the internet.
00:55:29 - Media rules.
00:55:30 - Guidelines, not rules, guidelines.
00:55:33 - I might've asked something back, just feel it out.
00:55:35 But just like my heart's beating right now, my heart was pounding out of my fucking chest, dude.
00:55:39 - Yeah.
00:55:39 - Like, God damn it.
00:55:41 Like he's going to, you know, I'm going to be example tomorrow.
00:55:44 Like, I don't know if he's actually, you know, in like mad or not like that because-
00:55:49 - Right, that's the whole like in, out, like Taylor, I like that.
00:55:52 I remember Taylor was doing that thing with the-
00:55:54 - Yeah, stopping, stop and go, hey.
00:55:56 - 'Cause our dynamic was always, we were always boys outside of the season.
00:56:01 And anytime I'm your player in the season, it's like-
00:56:04 - Completely different.
00:56:05 - It's just like, there's like-
00:56:06 - And we had that breakfast. Remember that breakfast at the Renaissance?
00:56:09 - Yeah, you got me the full continental.
00:56:10 - The recruiting, yeah, full continental.
00:56:11 - Yeah, you bought that continental breakfast for me.
00:56:12 Yeah, had some Cheerios.
00:56:13 - Yeah.
00:56:14 - Fresh fruit.
00:56:15 - Of course I remember that.
00:56:16 - Cereal.
00:56:17 - He took me around town, the cities.
00:56:18 - This is like, he was trying to court you to come to the agency visit.
00:56:21 - Recruiting for agency visit.
00:56:22 - Yeah, for agency visit.
00:56:23 - He's courting me around, like, you know, the press and the playoffs.
00:56:25 It's popping off on Broadway.
00:56:27 Like it goes down here.
00:56:28 - Day 30.
00:56:29 - He's hitting this-
00:56:30 - Quick continental, 15 minute recruiting spiel.
00:56:32 - Yeah.
00:56:33 You do the same thing for DeAndre Hopkins?
00:56:35 - Here you go.
00:56:36 (laughing)
00:56:39 - Don't.
00:56:40 - It still hurts just as much.
00:56:42 But yeah, there was always that dynamic.
00:56:44 So when he sent me that text, 'cause I don't hear a lot out of him,
00:56:48 unless there's just something funny that Vray wants to come over and like,
00:56:50 say that in his mind, he's telling me as a joke.
00:56:53 But in my mind, I'm thinking like, I got to make sure I'm a player in front of him
00:56:57 versus the person he probably thinks that I could be,
00:57:00 like behind the phone or something like that.
00:57:03 So he'd come up and like, tell me a joke.
00:57:04 And then I realized like, I'm like, you know, I laugh or whatever.
00:57:07 But I'm just thinking, man, this motherfucker plays an insane level of mental warfare with me.
00:57:11 - Yes.
00:57:12 - So then when he texts me, I don't know if he like, thought it was funny
00:57:15 or he thought like, no, I'm actually pissed off, but I know you guys,
00:57:18 like I know, you know, you just didn't know.
00:57:20 So I was terrified to go into the meeting the next day and he did.
00:57:22 - I mean, of course I see things that you guys put out there.
00:57:25 And then I think when there's really good ones and they're really funny ones,
00:57:28 then I'll take to Twitter once every six months to--
00:57:31 - Yeah, you do gracious with your presence.
00:57:33 - Throw one back across.
00:57:35 - Yeah, I feel like your Twitter just exists to body mirror Will.
00:57:37 - That's it.
00:57:38 - We've been getting your followers up though.
00:57:40 - You're welcome.
00:57:41 - I don't--
00:57:42 - 'Cause at first you had it, you had the daddy's giving you clicks,
00:57:45 I'm giving you views, don't use my name for followers.
00:57:48 - Yeah, 'cause you guys would tag me and all this shit.
00:57:49 I'm like, stop tagging me.
00:57:50 - But now that--
00:57:51 - Get off the tiff.
00:57:52 (laughing)
00:57:55 - Now it's shifted to where it's like--
00:57:56 - He's stronger, Will.
00:57:57 - No, no.
00:57:58 - We gotta fucking--
00:57:59 - Strengthening.
00:58:00 - We gotta fucking--
00:58:01 - We gotta get this man down.
00:58:02 - Now it's shifted to where we can shout him out and help get, you know,
00:58:04 our favorite head coach up some followers.
00:58:06 - We're helping the Titans, we're helping the Titans from a distance.
00:58:09 - But DeAndre Hopkins.
00:58:10 - Is it official?
00:58:11 - Is it official?
00:58:12 - Not official.
00:58:13 - But he's coming.
00:58:14 - I would imagine that as soon as he signs, it'll be official.
00:58:19 I mean, yes.
00:58:20 - Yeah, he's coming.
00:58:21 It's officially official, unofficially official.
00:58:23 - Unofficially, I think we've agreed to terms.
00:58:27 In principle.
00:58:29 - Was there, we talked about it on the bus,
00:58:31 was there a fear because of how Julio Jones worked out,
00:58:34 getting a guy like DeAndre?
00:58:36 Different players, obviously, different people, different mindsets.
00:58:38 - Again, anytime in free agency, you know, I think, you know,
00:58:43 you have to have some working knowledge of the player,
00:58:46 who they are as a person, who they are in the building,
00:58:50 whether one of your coaches coached them, whether you knew them.
00:58:55 Because just for the million reasons that we talked about with the culture
00:59:00 and what's it gonna be like and what the expectations are.
00:59:04 You know, sometimes free agency is great, sometimes, you know, it's not.
00:59:08 So there's always things that you, you know, you have to be careful of,
00:59:14 you know, that just, spend a lot of time with these guys before you draft them,
00:59:19 whether it's combine, Zoom, spend a day with them here in town
00:59:24 where you bring them in or you go work them out on their campus.
00:59:27 And you just don't have that sometimes in free agency
00:59:30 unless you've been with them.
00:59:32 So, you know, we've got some coaches on staff that have been with Hop,
00:59:36 me included, so, and we obviously feel good about it.
00:59:39 - Yeah. He's obviously a stud player, but was there any like hesitation
00:59:43 given some of the high profile free agents you've signed in the past
00:59:46 that didn't necessarily work out?
00:59:48 And then do you have to basically, do you recruit yourself from that thinking
00:59:52 so that way you can probably--
00:59:53 - Yeah, no, I mean, I don't think whatever happened in the past
00:59:55 with another player is gonna apply to this particular player.
00:59:59 And if things come up, we'll have to, you know, work through them.
01:00:02 But, I mean, we wouldn't have signed him or wanted to sign him
01:00:05 if we weren't confident that, you know, he'd help us.
01:00:09 - Did you talk to him about blocking?
01:00:11 We've seen the Houston tape. I can see in the team meeting now.
01:00:17 - Yeah, I mean, I think that-- - What are we doing here?
01:00:19 - Again, you get what you emphasize. - You get what you emphasize.
01:00:23 And I think that, you know, I'm confident that he'll do what we ask him to do.
01:00:28 And certainly that's not gonna be his number one job is to block.
01:00:33 It's not gonna be Trailing's number one job.
01:00:35 It's not gonna be Kyle's number one job.
01:00:38 So, you know, we have to do a better job.
01:00:41 I can coach Speaky to death, but we gotta protect the quarterback
01:00:44 so that we can, you know, throw the ball efficiently.
01:00:47 You don't have to throw it 50 times to win,
01:00:49 but you gotta throw it efficient.
01:00:51 - Yeah, a lot of noise saying that the Titans are in a rebuild year.
01:00:56 I don't ever think that in this league. I don't.
01:00:59 I'm never gonna believe that.
01:01:01 I think that our guys will prepare, our guys will fight,
01:01:05 and guys will-- I think we've got a chance to beat anybody.
01:01:09 - How do you feel like this roster's different this year than has been, like, you know--
01:01:13 - Well, I mean, we had to move on from veterans.
01:01:15 I mean, you get to a point where it's what happens in this league.
01:01:20 You know, whether it's me getting traded to Kansas City, you know,
01:01:24 going into my 13th year, or having to move on from some players
01:01:30 or making decisions. I mean, that's how this thing goes.
01:01:33 And everybody's aware of it.
01:01:36 So I think that's the first thing, you know what I mean?
01:01:39 We've got some veteran players that I've been with for, you know,
01:01:42 the five years that I've been here that we had to move on from,
01:01:46 and other players as well.
01:01:47 So I think that's probably the biggest-- you know,
01:01:50 it'll be the biggest difference, but every year there's always change every year.
01:01:54 - When you were-- when the whole A.J. Brown thing was going down,
01:01:59 he was in contract negotiations.
01:02:01 You had a press conference saying, "As long as I'm the head coach,
01:02:03 A.J. Brown will be on this team."
01:02:05 And then all of a sudden he's obviously on the Eagles.
01:02:07 - Sure. - What was that--
01:02:09 - Well, I mean, obviously as the head coach, you want every player
01:02:14 that you think can help you win on the team.
01:02:17 And certainly had a great relationship and still have a relationship with A.J.
01:02:21 - Yeah.
01:02:24 - But then sometimes in the business of professional sports, you know,
01:02:30 things go a different direction.
01:02:32 And that's where they went.
01:02:34 Happy for A.J., happy for his family, and, you know, we got compensated,
01:02:38 and now we'll have to keep doing it without him just like we tried last year.
01:02:43 - What's the war room like in a situation like that?
01:02:46 Even that night is unfolding and happening.
01:02:49 Obviously, they have cams in there.
01:02:51 They got--they try and capture reactions, but what's it like, like,
01:02:54 in that kind of situation?
01:02:56 - I mean, a lot of those conversations-- - You want to put some ice on that
01:02:58 or something? You all right?
01:03:00 - Tendonitis. - I should have brought my knee sleeve.
01:03:02 - That--the new--like the Monarchs, man.
01:03:07 - You got to be ready to go at any moment.
01:03:09 - You got some wide feet, brother. - Yeah.
01:03:12 - And pizza feet.
01:03:15 - So a lot of those conversations go on-- - It's just open season out here.
01:03:19 - Some of those go on before, like, you're on the clock, right?
01:03:22 So we traded--whenever we traded this year, and, you know, you kind of have
01:03:27 conversations and, you know, that's--those don't just happen in the 12 minutes
01:03:34 or 10 minutes that you're on the clock.
01:03:37 A lot of those times, it's, you know, talked about before, and, you know,
01:03:41 ultimately, once they were on the clock, you know, they made the deal.
01:03:47 - What's the--do you have any more on-- - No, I want to--like, I want you to
01:03:51 take me in that order, like, what was the back and forth?
01:03:53 Do you remember, like, their first offer? Who called who?
01:04:00 - I would say that everybody calls everybody in this league two weeks
01:04:04 leading up to the draft. - Yeah.
01:04:06 - I promise you. Coaches will talk. Coach starts at the combine.
01:04:10 I think GMs will start calling each other.
01:04:12 So to say, like, somebody called somebody, I don't ever buy that,
01:04:17 because they all, you know, are talking about, hey, you know,
01:04:22 you're willing to move up, you're willing to move back,
01:04:24 and then you just start trying to, you know, figure out where things may go
01:04:29 or players or draft picks, and then, you know, there's conversations
01:04:34 all the way up to the draft, and then it's--ultimately, it's, you know,
01:04:38 if we like the deal, we'll call you when we're on the clock.
01:04:41 - If--does it usually happen where if the Titans are on the clock,
01:04:45 are you guys more likely to receive calls or send out calls?
01:04:50 - Well, I think it's hard to send out calls when you're on the clock,
01:04:53 because then you're probably--you know what I mean?
01:04:55 Then you're pretty much--I don't know what kind of value you're going to get.
01:04:58 - Yeah, you just--do you refer back? - You just have to look and see
01:05:00 what's on the board and see, you know, what somebody's willing to come up
01:05:03 and give you for a pick. - All right.
01:05:07 - You know what I mean? It's like if we're sitting there at, you know,
01:05:10 57 or whatever, and somebody has a player--you know, they'll call a couple out,
01:05:16 like, "Hey, if our guy's there, would you guys be willing to move back?"
01:05:20 "Sure." You know, and then if they don't call, you assume that you're--
01:05:25 the player that they wanted got picked, you know, and then it's like,
01:05:29 "Well, who are you taking?" "Well, we're not--you know, maybe we want
01:05:31 the same guy when you play that game." So that's kind of how it works.
01:05:36 You know, in those later rounds.
01:05:39 - When you were leading up to the game against the Eagles,
01:05:42 obviously you probably had a big emphasis on--they have a great receiving core.
01:05:45 They have a great offense across the board.
01:05:48 When you get in the game and you see AJ doing what AJ's doing,
01:05:51 is there a part of you that's like, "Man, good for him"?
01:05:55 - Maybe not that--maybe not right then and there.
01:05:59 - Yeah. - Fuck no. You know what I mean?
01:06:01 But-- - Because he's--
01:06:03 - I try to look--yeah, I mean, I try to look back and see, you know,
01:06:06 that game was a one-score game, and we jump off sides in the red zone,
01:06:11 and we get pushed back, and we don't, you know, finish the drive off.
01:06:18 And then it just kind of snowballed from there.
01:06:20 You know, the quarterback got hit and fumbled, and we couldn't do anything
01:06:25 to stop him on big plays. But I don't know if I looked at it
01:06:29 right then and there, I wouldn't say--I'm happy for AJ,
01:06:33 but not certainly that day.
01:06:36 - He's the one that touched down. - He's the one that touched down,
01:06:38 and they called it back. - Not that day.
01:06:40 - And then he did another one. Yeah, I mean, I'm sitting there like,
01:06:43 "Holy shit, dude. This guy's just on a mission."
01:06:45 You know how AJ is. He only needs, like, someone to say something
01:06:50 a little off, let alone getting traded to be like, "All right,
01:06:53 I'm about to go crazy on these guys."
01:06:55 - Yeah, I mean, I would imagine that knowing him that maybe there was,
01:07:01 you know, motivation. Again, it's--negotiations in pro sports,
01:07:06 like you've been through it, it's--sometimes they go
01:07:11 in different directions. - After that game, the transition
01:07:14 starts to happen for--John gets fired, you guys bring in Ran.
01:07:18 Can you talk about that transition as the Titans were moving on
01:07:21 from a GM that had been here with you the whole time
01:07:24 to finding somebody else? - Yeah, I mean, it was a great process.
01:07:29 I mean, it was an inclusive process. Brought in a lot of great candidates.
01:07:34 Interviewed some people in-house that had been here.
01:07:38 And then, you know, ultimately went with Ran.
01:07:43 And I thought Amy made an amazing decision,
01:07:47 and it's been awesome to work with. Brought in some great guys.
01:07:51 Brought in Chad Brinker and Anthony Robinson.
01:07:54 So continue to communicate, continue to talk, work through the spring.
01:08:00 I thought it was--the spring was really good.
01:08:02 I thought we got a lot of stuff done. I thought our ability to work
01:08:06 through the draft was really good. So just looking forward to see
01:08:09 where we go here in training camp. - Was it weird moving on from a GM
01:08:12 in the middle of the season? - I mean, we all work for somebody.
01:08:16 You know what I mean? And so it's like, I've got to--I support this organization.
01:08:21 I support Amy. John hired me. You know what I mean?
01:08:25 He was partly responsible. Ultimately, Amy had that final decision.
01:08:29 But John was a general manager when I got the job here.
01:08:32 So a ton of respect for him and the job that he did.
01:08:36 You know, and I think we all wish it wouldn't happen, but that's--
01:08:41 again, we're in professional sports, and we know what we signed up for.
01:08:46 - When you're looking at a situation during the season after the--
01:08:51 - When did you guys get so serious and all this shit?
01:08:53 - Well, we had fun. We've been having fun.
01:08:55 - We'd be able to have more fun if you fucking come on once a year,
01:08:59 but you hold us hostage every now and then to come on here.
01:09:01 - By the way, for those of you listening, this is the only individual
01:09:04 that's ever asked for money to come on this podcast.
01:09:06 - But what kind of money did I ask for?
01:09:08 - You wanted us to donate. - For charity.
01:09:10 - And the boys showed up. - Yeah, it turned into that, but--
01:09:13 - You didn't turn into that. - You come from a great school
01:09:17 of fucking negotiating. I know-- yes, I know--
01:09:20 - I'm here, aren't I? - You are.
01:09:22 - You guys stepped up. - But you're talking about
01:09:24 the seriousness-- - Old, indie attire, too,
01:09:26 which I think is awesome. - No question.
01:09:27 - I did this for you. - It's so hilarious.
01:09:29 Like, the man just-- you're a cartoon.
01:09:31 If people see you like this, you just show up on the bus like this.
01:09:33 - I did this for you. - I fucking love it.
01:09:34 - We get Code Jersey out. Show them your gift.
01:09:38 - Year 10. Joey and the boys.
01:09:41 Joey, Jerome. Jerome's still got that on today.
01:09:45 - I wish you would have put "year" for the last name.
01:09:48 - I thought you'd want-- - No, I--
01:09:51 - You know, they probably recognize you,
01:09:53 so they probably recognize Compton more than they do your face, so.
01:09:56 - But anyway.
01:09:59 - To answer your question, we get Coach Vrae born, like, you know.
01:10:05 - Go. - We have questions we get to ask.
01:10:07 - We got a QB situation. - Yeah, we can--
01:10:09 - You want to talk about that? - We get to have fun.
01:10:11 - It's next on your list. - No, I--
01:10:13 - You're like a teleprompter for dummies. - It's a reminder.
01:10:16 - We got a teleprompter for dummies. There's four things on there.
01:10:19 - We got to make sure we get the-- - It doesn't move.
01:10:20 - We got to make sure we get the PFT, the ESPNs,
01:10:23 like, they're fucking-- Mike Brayville on "Bustin' with the Boys,"
01:10:26 he talked about this. - Yeah.
01:10:27 - We have a job to do. - Yeah, we have a job to do.
01:10:29 - We have a job to do.
01:10:30 Green Bay game. Obviously, after the Green Bay game
01:10:32 with Todd Downing, that happened.
01:10:35 I'm not going to ask about that, because we know the chronicle of Todd
01:10:39 and how everything happened, but what was your process?
01:10:42 Because, obviously, Todd was let go.
01:10:44 When all that is happening, where does your mind go
01:10:47 as far as figuring out-- because some people are saying,
01:10:49 "Hey, you got to fire this guy right now."
01:10:51 Obviously, it happened after the season,
01:10:53 like, from inside the walls of the facility.
01:10:55 - Yeah, I mean, I think that those things are two separate situations, Taylor.
01:10:59 I mean, we all needed to be better on offense.
01:11:03 You know what I mean? We all did.
01:11:05 Our players and our coaches, starting with me,
01:11:08 needed to be better on offense.
01:11:10 Then again, the next situation that you're referring to
01:11:15 is we're all responsible at some point for our choices,
01:11:18 our decisions, and things that we do.
01:11:21 So, I think those are two separate things.
01:11:24 I didn't feel like the right thing to do was to make a move
01:11:28 at that point in time in the season.
01:11:32 And when the season ended, I felt like we needed to have
01:11:37 some change in leadership on offense, and that's what we did.
01:11:41 - I think that's enough serious stuff.
01:11:43 If you were to coach for-- - No, that's okay.
01:11:45 But, I mean, we all do. I mean, every day it happens.
01:11:48 We try to talk about the decisions that we make,
01:11:51 the people we surround ourselves with,
01:11:54 and what the habits that we're creating.
01:11:58 - The trifecta. - The trifecta.
01:12:01 - The trifecta. - What was the fun question
01:12:03 you were about to ask? - Do you remember the trifecta?
01:12:05 - No. - Did you sit in our meetings?
01:12:09 - Rabe, again, we can go back in our text messages.
01:12:13 The very first time I impersonated you,
01:12:15 you texted that night like-- - After that, you forgot
01:12:18 everything else I've said. - Like, "Oh, at least I know
01:12:20 you're paying attention." Even last year I came in.
01:12:22 - It was tough because the guy-- - We're talking--
01:12:24 - I thought you would be a little-- come a little stronger.
01:12:28 - What do you mean? - I thought you had a little bit more--
01:12:31 - I thought I had it last year? - Yeah.
01:12:32 - I thought I had it really well. - He came in with an iHeart
01:12:34 Jeff Simmons shirt like that. Shit was funny.
01:12:36 - It was funny. - Pulling up the tape.
01:12:38 - It was funny, but I think he left a little bit out there
01:12:41 on the field. - Left a little meat on the bone?
01:12:43 - I think so. What do you think? I mean, give me an honest evaluation.
01:12:48 - Me, personally-- - It was hard to top year one.
01:12:51 - Yes. - And last year, it looked to me
01:12:54 like you were just laying up too much.
01:12:56 Like you weren't going for the fucking green.
01:12:58 - Well, in my defense-- - Hold on, I'm asking--
01:13:02 - Let me-- I'll do this. - You're right.
01:13:04 - I think Will being in the training camp the whole time,
01:13:07 the first time he did it, he knows all the repetitive things
01:13:10 you've been saying. This time he's kind of plopped into a situation
01:13:13 getting some tape, and he's like, "Do I fall back on the same stuff?"
01:13:16 Because he knows, "Hey, Brave's a little bit different now."
01:13:18 He handles stuff a little bit differently, so I'm sure--
01:13:21 - New guy, Stretch is having to feed me.
01:13:23 I'm like, "Hey, what are some--?"
01:13:25 - You're learning names and all that stuff.
01:13:27 - It's a lot of like-- - I thought it was really good.
01:13:29 And especially the new guys that didn't see the first time,
01:13:32 I thought they really loved it.
01:13:34 - Good. I don't know if it was really good.
01:13:37 - Right. It's one of those things.
01:13:38 You need your best players to play their best.
01:13:40 - You know what I think pops it off?
01:13:42 Ripping a jewel. - Mm-hmm.
01:13:45 - Not doing that. - Why not?
01:13:47 - We stopped. - When we-- we stopped?
01:13:51 - Yeah. He's saying he stopped.
01:13:53 - Your hand's been shaking the whole time you've been in here.
01:13:55 I know you haven't stopped. - It's my--
01:13:56 - No fucking way. - It's my shooting hand.
01:13:59 - We were like-- I came in the building,
01:14:01 and Brave's like, "Hey, do you want to be Coach Rable again?"
01:14:03 Like, "Come in the training camp."
01:14:04 - Yeah, but hold on. Back up even more than that.
01:14:06 Like a week and a half before that,
01:14:08 I went into Brave's office, and I was like,
01:14:10 "Hey, we should get Will." - It's so funny when he comes in
01:14:12 expecting no and gets yes.
01:14:14 - No, you said, "I'll think about it."
01:14:15 Like, you gave me the whole, "I'll think about it," tour.
01:14:17 - When I say, "I'll think about it," it's usually yes.
01:14:19 - You walked away, and you're like, kind of like,
01:14:20 you shoot me to the door. - I'll either no or I'll think about it.
01:14:22 - Yeah. Shoot me to the door, and apparently,
01:14:24 he calls you, like, right after that.
01:14:25 - He's like-- kind of has a low voice talking, too.
01:14:27 Like, "Hey, Taylor just left the office."
01:14:28 - And the thing is, before the show--
01:14:29 - I didn't want to tell him. I wanted to say no,
01:14:31 but then tell you to set it up.
01:14:33 - So before the rookie show, I'm, like, standing out there
01:14:35 with Stretch. Like, Stretch stands out there
01:14:37 and waits for everybody to get in.
01:14:38 And Stretch was like, "Get inside."
01:14:39 And, like, usually we kind of hang out for a couple minutes.
01:14:41 And he's like, "Go."
01:14:42 And I'm like, "Why is this man pushing me so much?"
01:14:44 And I literally had no idea there was--
01:14:46 - You were surprised.
01:14:47 - I got fired up when he walked in.
01:14:49 I got fired up. - Walking in with the--
01:14:50 - They're like, "Yo, hey, that's my boy."
01:14:52 - "Oh, the boys!"
01:14:53 - "Getting fucking stoked out there."
01:14:54 - He's like, "This is the guy I was telling you about."
01:14:56 "This is the guy I was telling you about."
01:14:58 - The rookies did, like, a bad--
01:15:00 It was an all right show.
01:15:01 There was a couple of good skits in there.
01:15:02 - It stunk.
01:15:03 - They did a bad "Busting with the Boys" bit thing.
01:15:05 - Right. - And they did a couple of things.
01:15:07 It was like, "Yeah, it's funny, I guess."
01:15:08 - Right.
01:15:09 - But then you came in.
01:15:10 You low-key saved the show.
01:15:11 So was it the best you've ever done?
01:15:13 I agree with you, no.
01:15:14 But you did save the show.
01:15:15 - It was that bad of a show.
01:15:18 - Yeah, I mean, it was fun to do.
01:15:20 I was nervous to do it 'cause I'm like,
01:15:22 "Hey, Stretch, you understand,
01:15:23 "I need actual material for me inside."
01:15:25 - How sweet's that new team meeting room?
01:15:26 - Sick. - It's amazing.
01:15:27 - And then we're back, like, putting it all together,
01:15:29 like, going through film clips and everything else.
01:15:32 Like, you could storyline it this way, that way.
01:15:34 We're making up.
01:15:35 You know, I was like, "Hey, let me get an 'I love Jeffree Star'
01:15:37 "shirt to wear in there."
01:15:39 We have him, we're about to go out.
01:15:40 I was like, "Hey, Bray."
01:15:41 That was the one thing I wanted to clear with him.
01:15:43 I was like, "Can I get one of your jewels?
01:15:46 "Can I hit a jewel when I get out there?"
01:15:48 He's like, "No."
01:15:49 - Dude, why not?
01:15:50 - 'Cause I didn't have him in there.
01:15:51 - He's like, "Jen's saying it too."
01:15:53 Like, "Why not?
01:15:54 "Why won't you let me?"
01:15:55 - No.
01:15:56 - You know, he was like, "I let you in the building.
01:15:57 "Take what you got right here."
01:15:58 - Enough's enough.
01:15:59 - Yeah.
01:16:00 - All right, man, whatever.
01:16:01 - That was a fun time, dude.
01:16:02 Had a little lunch after.
01:16:04 - Broke a little bread.
01:16:05 - Yeah, it was nice.
01:16:06 - You guys are trying to talk me out of the first time around.
01:16:08 The very first one we did in training camp.
01:16:10 - First time around, crushed.
01:16:11 I still laugh at that shit.
01:16:12 - Yeah, 'cause that one was like--
01:16:13 - I still laugh.
01:16:14 - Bray didn't know.
01:16:15 Like, nobody kind of knew, and I had a couple vets
01:16:17 who were like, "Hey, you sure you want to do this?
01:16:18 "This is good."
01:16:19 You know, if you're making fun of the head coach,
01:16:21 I'm thinking, "Yeah, I guess you're right, but."
01:16:23 - That's what I'm going off of.
01:16:25 Which, when I say last year was good,
01:16:27 I'm going off of that shit, which I still laugh at that.
01:16:29 - That shit, the first time you did it.
01:16:31 - Bro.
01:16:32 - I don't even know what was happening.
01:16:33 - People are still laughing into your next bit,
01:16:36 and you're just like, "Shh, quiet down."
01:16:37 He's going again.
01:16:38 - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:16:39 - 'Cause everybody's still laughing from the first joke,
01:16:41 but you can't hear the beginning of the next one,
01:16:43 and you're just like, "Oh, everybody quiet down.
01:16:44 "Just keep going."
01:16:45 - Did you laugh during the show, or were you kind of--
01:16:46 - I was in the corner laughing my ass off.
01:16:48 - Yeah, I didn't see him.
01:16:49 'Cause I know you came down, and you said something like,
01:16:52 "6 a.m., Will," or something like that.
01:16:53 Like, you hit him with a little something.
01:16:55 - I was down there laughing in the corner.
01:16:57 It was funny.
01:16:58 I was pulling up the old tape, too, JPP.
01:17:01 Just to bother me one more time.
01:17:02 - Yeah.
01:17:03 - Goddamn.
01:17:04 - You know what I wish.
01:17:05 - We need to pee.
01:17:06 - Dude.
01:17:07 No, he hit me with the--
01:17:08 - He hit that cotton drop.
01:17:09 - I thought he went that way, and he hit me another way.
01:17:10 Spun me.
01:17:11 That was when I got the verbal, "We're paying you for this?"
01:17:14 I thought, "Oh, I'm done."
01:17:15 - I pat you on the back, you shit in my hand.
01:17:18 - Yeah, that was like--
01:17:19 Those are the things that you're like, "Man, camp."
01:17:22 Like, these poor boys, these rookies have no idea.
01:17:24 When you go out to camp, those bad plays, when they go up,
01:17:28 it's gonna be--
01:17:29 - The good, the bad, and the shit that gets you beat.
01:17:31 - Puts you in a fucking blender.
01:17:33 It's a terrible feeling.
01:17:34 - Those are just reminders.
01:17:35 - Yeah, I'll tell you what.
01:17:36 - Those are teaching moments.
01:17:37 - But you know how the ego is in the NFL.
01:17:38 - Here's a teaching moment.
01:17:39 - Here's a funny teaching moment I look back on.
01:17:42 There was an undrafted free agent.
01:17:44 Maybe he was maybe at ACC school.
01:17:47 I don't know, but it seemed like he got paid
01:17:50 a little bit of a signing bonus.
01:17:51 I believe he was on D-line at the time.
01:17:53 - Yeah, I believe he was.
01:17:54 - And, Brave, you know, you're in there,
01:17:56 you're hitting the tape post-practice,
01:17:57 and everybody's assholes a little tight.
01:17:59 You're like, "Man, am I about to make this fucking tape?"
01:18:01 You always hate it because you're watching tape,
01:18:03 we're in the AC, it's easy.
01:18:05 You're at your most vulnerable.
01:18:08 And this poor soul either didn't get his hands inside
01:18:11 or something, he had put a few--
01:18:13 - No, he got the shit knocked out of him.
01:18:15 - He got rolled up.
01:18:16 - He stacked a few bad reps or practices together,
01:18:19 and Brave's like, "You need to go home,
01:18:21 "go back to the hotel tonight, and ask yourself
01:18:23 "if you even wanna fucking play this game."
01:18:26 - What?
01:18:27 I mean, at least remember Dickerson?
01:18:31 As much as you hated him 'cause he fought every--
01:18:33 - He got off the field.
01:18:35 - Right, but he fought you.
01:18:37 And he wanted to be there, and he acted like
01:18:40 whether he fought you.
01:18:42 And he wanted to fight Taylor, he got into it after,
01:18:45 and I was like, "Okay, at least we can work with something,
01:18:48 "at least we can coach that."
01:18:50 You know what I'm saying?
01:18:51 There's a passion, there's a fire, whatever.
01:18:55 That's all we're looking for.
01:18:56 - Yeah, what did you do?
01:18:57 What did you do?
01:18:58 Were you drafted?
01:18:59 - No.
01:19:00 - Right, so how did you act your first couple years
01:19:02 to try to make it?
01:19:03 - Fucking grit and spit.
01:19:04 - Exactly.
01:19:05 - Prison rules, dude.
01:19:06 Find the biggest guy and fight him right away.
01:19:07 - Well--
01:19:08 - No?
01:19:09 - No, I'm not picking on him.
01:19:10 I'm not trying to pick a fight with Trent Williams.
01:19:12 - Well, no, but--
01:19:13 - You know what I mean?
01:19:14 But yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:19:16 - Exactly.
01:19:17 That's what you have to do.
01:19:18 - But what's funny, and you're just like the poor soul,
01:19:21 'cause Vrabe, if he gets you for some reps in a row
01:19:23 to where he can put a mini highlight of you up--
01:19:25 - Low light.
01:19:26 - Yeah, low light of you up.
01:19:27 - You make it sound like they're all negative.
01:19:29 They're not all negative.
01:19:30 - They're not all negative.
01:19:31 - No, no, no, no, no.
01:19:32 This is us reliving our fun moments with Coach Vrabe.
01:19:33 - No one remembers the losses.
01:19:34 - Correct.
01:19:35 - Hey, take it easy, take it easy.
01:19:36 - I know, but you're painting this picture just like--
01:19:38 - No, Vrabe, listen.
01:19:39 You put the highlights up, you say, "Hey, we like this,
01:19:41 "this guy, that's good technique, so and so."
01:19:43 - When you ran off the ball and you were strong
01:19:46 with your backside hand, I put it on there.
01:19:48 - And I was very grateful for that.
01:19:50 - Yeah, when you walked to the line of scrimmage,
01:19:53 I put that on there.
01:19:54 - Yeah, yeah.
01:19:55 That is such a dumb rule, by the way.
01:19:57 I feel like I can say that now.
01:19:59 Why are we running to the line of scrimmage?
01:20:01 - 'Cause we want to--
01:20:02 - It's the tempo.
01:20:03 - Yeah, it's tempo, but you can--
01:20:04 - Set the tone.
01:20:05 - Look at everybody else in the NFL.
01:20:06 - Remember that one game I said,
01:20:07 "We're gonna fucking speed break 70 times in a row."
01:20:09 - Yeah, and that was--
01:20:10 - You're like, "70?"
01:20:11 I'm like, "Yeah, we're gonna start
01:20:12 "positioning right now."
01:20:13 We didn't, but we did sometimes.
01:20:15 - Obviously, we didn't do a speed break 70 times, but--
01:20:17 - But we did it like 30.
01:20:18 - That's the change of pace you want.
01:20:19 Let the boys walk up to the line.
01:20:21 It's a waste of energy.
01:20:22 You see teams that have won the Super Bowl,
01:20:24 every other team, they walk up to the line,
01:20:26 they get set, 'cause receivers gotta run out.
01:20:28 - Not every team, but--
01:20:29 - We got time to get up there.
01:20:30 And then you do a speed break,
01:20:31 it changes the tempo, puts the defense in a blender.
01:20:33 - There's a difference between walking, sauntering,
01:20:36 and brisk walking to the line.
01:20:39 You saunter.
01:20:40 - Yeah, but you're not asking for a brisk walk.
01:20:41 - You're saunter.
01:20:42 - You're walking, you wanna--
01:20:43 - You sauntered when I first got here.
01:20:44 - You're ready, set, break.
01:20:45 - Like, you wanted everybody, everybody,
01:20:47 and then while you're still getting set,
01:20:49 we're snapping the fucking ball.
01:20:50 There's a penalty.
01:20:51 - When a pitcher goes to the mound,
01:20:52 he takes his time to throw some fucking heat.
01:20:53 - Correct, get--
01:20:54 - I was getting ready to throw my heat.
01:20:55 - Exactly, but when we had the penalty,
01:20:57 lost my shit.
01:20:58 - Jets game.
01:20:59 - No quash.
01:21:00 - God damn, that was when I was like,
01:21:01 "Fuck, now I have nothing to stand a leg on."
01:21:03 (laughing)
01:21:04 That pissed me off.
01:21:05 'Cause we called a--
01:21:07 - He's fidgeting around in his stance,
01:21:08 he's (mimics air whooshing)
01:21:09 quarterback snaps.
01:21:10 - Well, I don't really stop moving in my stance at all.
01:21:12 - Remember when you'd go,
01:21:13 remember when you'd go,
01:21:14 "Pssst."
01:21:15 - Get 'em.
01:21:16 - And then Sarah came over and then said,
01:21:18 "Taylor, if you keep moving your hand
01:21:20 "and he jumps, I'm gonna get ya."
01:21:22 - But I never had called him.
01:21:24 - I know.
01:21:25 - And you did say,
01:21:26 "Hey, you just keep doing what you want,
01:21:27 "but if you get called, that's on you."
01:21:29 - And then you're done.
01:21:30 - And that was great.
01:21:31 - And then you're done.
01:21:32 - But there was never a talk about jogging up to the line.
01:21:33 There was none.
01:21:34 - No, that was non-negotiable.
01:21:35 - What I'm saying, you get into it early September.
01:21:38 - He did pay attention,
01:21:39 even though it didn't seem like he was,
01:21:41 the non-negotiables, he knows what those are.
01:21:42 - Yeah, I'm secretly coachable.
01:21:43 - I know that.
01:21:44 Not secretly.
01:21:45 - You, uh.
01:21:46 - Come on, Will, you're running out of time, Will.
01:21:47 - I'm doing God's work right now.
01:21:49 - We're going a good time and a half here in a second.
01:21:51 - You think so?
01:21:52 - Whoa, whoa, whoa, hey.
01:21:53 - Whoa, whoa, whoa.
01:21:54 - You were late for three hours.
01:21:55 - You were late.
01:21:56 - You didn't read the fine print?
01:21:57 - Time and a half.
01:21:58 - You were late, brother.
01:21:59 - That didn't start,
01:22:00 that started when I sat down.
01:22:01 - Oh.
01:22:02 - Yeah, but then we had to deal with the mic issue.
01:22:04 We're about 25 minutes into this podcast.
01:22:06 - Oh, fuck we are.
01:22:08 - We are rolling.
01:22:09 - I got no lunch.
01:22:12 - Rave, you was late, which is fine.
01:22:14 - Forget the band of body armor.
01:22:15 - But you know your rules, man.
01:22:16 Thankfully you're rich.
01:22:17 You have a nice little.
01:22:18 - I'm not drinking another body armor.
01:22:20 - You want?
01:22:21 - No, I want food.
01:22:22 - You want a twisted tea?
01:22:23 - I can tell.
01:22:25 - How about that?
01:22:26 - Have you tasted these?
01:22:27 - No.
01:22:28 - You gotta be kidding me.
01:22:29 - New sponsor, huh?
01:22:31 - We are the twisted tea.
01:22:32 - The tea's good.
01:22:33 - Right, I saw those.
01:22:34 - And for Beer Olympics,
01:22:35 which do we want to talk about
01:22:36 how you set us up for that?
01:22:37 - Mm.
01:22:38 - We interrupt this episode to bring you an ad read
01:22:41 and that is Duke Cannon.
01:22:43 We'd like to talk to you about your shower game
01:22:45 for just a minute.
01:22:46 - Here's a fact.
01:22:48 The body wash you're using right now sucks.
01:22:51 - Mm.
01:22:52 - Absolutely fucking sucks.
01:22:54 - Fuck your body wash, dude.
01:22:55 - Simply put, it's not getting the job done.
01:22:58 - Mm.
01:22:59 - Oh, that's me.
01:23:00 The boys need a shower of substance
01:23:01 after a hard day's work
01:23:02 and that's why we use Thick,
01:23:05 high viscosity body wash from Duke Cannon.
01:23:08 - Dude, you knocked the viscosity out of the water.
01:23:10 - Thanks, brother.
01:23:11 - Thicker and girthier is better.
01:23:14 - Oh, shit.
01:23:15 Duke Cannon's Thick body wash is built to work hard
01:23:19 and not spew down the shower drain.
01:23:21 - All their scents are amazing,
01:23:23 but my personal favorite is Midnight Swim.
01:23:26 It smells like a cannonball
01:23:28 into a moonlit lake,
01:23:30 not a dip in the hot tub at the Starlit Motel.
01:23:33 - I don't know about you boys,
01:23:34 but every once in a while,
01:23:35 I wake up in the morning,
01:23:36 I hurry out the door,
01:23:37 and I kind of forget to put deodorant on.
01:23:39 But I know when I don't put this cool dry on
01:23:41 because my armpits definitely don't feel the AC
01:23:44 cooking inside between that swampy little area.
01:23:47 So that is actually my favorite product.
01:23:49 - You have to try Duke Cannon.
01:23:52 So for a limited time,
01:23:53 we're hooking the boys up
01:23:54 with 20% off your first order
01:23:56 at dukecannon.com with code THEBOYS20.
01:24:00 - That's 20% off when you use code THEBOYS20
01:24:04 at dukecannon.com.
01:24:05 - Duke Cannon, work harder, smell better.
01:24:08 - Get back to this episode.
01:24:10 - You didn't come to Beer Olympics.
01:24:12 - Yeah, he hit me.
01:24:13 - I told you there was an emergency meeting
01:24:16 that was called for the directors
01:24:18 at Richland Country Club.
01:24:20 - He was golfing, dude.
01:24:23 - I know.
01:24:24 - And you know what's so wild?
01:24:25 - It went a lot longer than I thought.
01:24:27 After I finished and I saw it was still going on,
01:24:30 I'm like, "Holy shit, can I even think about going?"
01:24:33 - Yeah.
01:24:34 - Showing up like without a drink.
01:24:36 - If you would have showed up at this clock,
01:24:37 no chance, dude.
01:24:38 You would have been like, "I'm never hooking you guys again."
01:24:40 - It was like carnage.
01:24:42 - Yeah, we were black.
01:24:43 - It was wild.
01:24:44 And the rookies were in a blender too
01:24:45 when they knew you were coming.
01:24:47 - Were they?
01:24:48 - Oh yeah.
01:24:49 I'd be like, "Hey."
01:24:51 I literally went up to them and was like,
01:24:52 "I know, we're able to talk to you guys.
01:24:53 "He's gonna come.
01:24:54 "It's okay to have a drink in front of your coach."
01:24:57 I'm like, "This is the NFL, it's all good."
01:24:58 - Pro football.
01:24:59 - Pro football.
01:25:00 As long as you guys show up,
01:25:01 and yes, if you have a bad practice,
01:25:02 he'll probably bring up your drinking at Beer Olympics,
01:25:04 but it's gonna be all right.
01:25:06 - No doubt.
01:25:07 - And as I'm walking away,
01:25:08 and one of them, I'm not gonna say their name,
01:25:10 he's like, "I don't even know if I'm gonna drink today.
01:25:11 "I'm gonna wait 'til he leaves."
01:25:13 And then he never came.
01:25:14 - I'm telling you, bro, it's the mental warfare.
01:25:16 - It is.
01:25:17 - The mental warfare from Coach Rabe's, man.
01:25:18 - You kinda need it.
01:25:19 - You have to have it.
01:25:20 - I'm finishing thoughts on jogging up to the line,
01:25:22 how we can just kinda shut that down.
01:25:23 I'm not talking for me, I'm talking for Levin,
01:25:25 I'm talking for Ruse, I'm talking for-
01:25:26 - They don't complain.
01:25:27 The nice thing is about them, they don't bitch about it.
01:25:29 - Yeah, I'm their voice.
01:25:30 I'm their voice.
01:25:31 - Well, it's an old voice.
01:25:34 - That's the reason why it's gone.
01:25:36 It's gone now, there's no more voice.
01:25:37 - Text messages.
01:25:38 - Yeah.
01:25:39 - He said it's an old voice.
01:25:40 Did you ever last year think about like,
01:25:42 let's run it back with-
01:25:46 - Me?
01:25:48 - No.
01:25:49 - You.
01:25:50 - Oh.
01:25:51 I thought you gave me the eyes.
01:25:52 - Titan started to drop some games.
01:25:54 It's like, hey, where's the juice that we need?
01:25:56 - We were thinking about like just a little pick me up,
01:25:59 like post Thanksgiving, get it back up and get, you know.
01:26:04 - It went through your mind?
01:26:05 - We're gonna be having some joke.
01:26:06 It always goes through my mind.
01:26:07 Those long November days, it gets dark early,
01:26:12 get a little juice in the building.
01:26:14 - You're, you know, depending on your mood,
01:26:16 you could be PMSing a little bit more than this.
01:26:18 - Yeah, it just, what is it?
01:26:22 Just didn't work out?
01:26:23 - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:26:24 - Just didn't work out.
01:26:25 - Yeah, I had to weigh my options.
01:26:26 Atlanta was calling me.
01:26:27 - Where are you training at?
01:26:28 - Right now?
01:26:29 Boost.
01:26:30 Same spot I was training at when you texted,
01:26:31 hey, are you ready to go
01:26:32 or have you had one too many rib eyes?
01:26:35 - That's a good crew out there, isn't there?
01:26:38 - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:26:39 Yeah.
01:26:40 You talking about Titans guys?
01:26:41 - Yeah, just our pro guys.
01:26:42 - I'm there at six in the morning.
01:26:43 I don't see anybody at six in the morning.
01:26:44 - You get there early?
01:26:45 - Yeah.
01:26:46 I'm talking wake up at 5.30, you know the deal.
01:26:47 6 a.m.
01:26:48 So that way you get back to the, do the dad thing.
01:26:50 - Putting that work in still.
01:26:52 - Putting that work in.
01:26:53 - Oh yeah.
01:26:54 - You still doing them half gassers
01:26:55 or what are you doing?
01:26:56 - You need me to hit a punt set for you.
01:26:57 We could do a little workout right outside.
01:26:58 - Drag hand?
01:26:59 - Yeah, drag hand.
01:27:00 Need to keep my base a little wider.
01:27:01 I know that's what you always coach me on.
01:27:02 - You get turned, you get turned sideways.
01:27:04 - But honestly, like, you always talked about the punch.
01:27:09 I, for my skill set, felt like I was always better absorbing
01:27:14 because like you always made fun of me on my T-Rex arms.
01:27:19 - I disagree.
01:27:22 Like, you never want to like absorb
01:27:25 when you have to go cover, you know what I mean?
01:27:29 Like Taylor, if he's playing left tackle, like, okay,
01:27:31 you can give a little ground and you can sink, sink.
01:27:33 But Taylor doesn't have to shed and go 45, 50 yards now.
01:27:38 With Stoney, he's got a hammer leg.
01:27:41 - I feel you.
01:27:42 I'm just saying like not everybody's built with arms
01:27:44 like that you have.
01:27:45 - Right, but you could still, I mean, Bates punched.
01:27:50 - You got enough tape on me?
01:27:51 I had four in one game, New York, 17 and 0.
01:27:54 17 to nothing.
01:27:56 - What are you talking about?
01:27:57 - I'm saying I've never given up a punt.
01:27:59 Never given up a block.
01:28:00 - No, I wasn't saying that you gave up a block.
01:28:03 - You're like, hey, DB, he shocks and he does.
01:28:05 I was like, okay, you got tape of somebody who absorbs too.
01:28:07 - Right, but I'm talking about like the coverage.
01:28:09 I'm trying to get you out there faster.
01:28:11 DB's faster than you.
01:28:12 - You got to play to your skillset, brother.
01:28:14 I'm trying to flow.
01:28:15 I'm trying to let somebody go down there and mess it up.
01:28:17 - And then overlap over the top.
01:28:19 - Yeah, they, what is it?
01:28:20 Shoot the ball, they pull their trigger, they miss.
01:28:22 It stops their feet.
01:28:23 I got a little bit more to work with.
01:28:24 - Come in here and clean them up.
01:28:25 - Yeah, get that tackle, get the stat sheet.
01:28:28 - So do you really have nine?
01:28:29 What's your 401k say?
01:28:30 Does it say nine?
01:28:31 - It's nine.
01:28:32 - It's nine?
01:28:33 - Yeah.
01:28:34 - Why?
01:28:35 Did you have like a P squad here or what?
01:28:36 Did you have two?
01:28:38 It's only nine?
01:28:39 - You had a P squad here and then after a couple years.
01:28:42 - I had one P squad here, yeah.
01:28:43 - It turns into accredited here after you get vested.
01:28:45 - So the P squad does count now.
01:28:47 - After you get vested, they roll it back
01:28:49 and then count the practice squad year.
01:28:51 - So are you counting the practice squad year?
01:28:53 - Oh, 100% of the time.
01:28:55 - Braves, I'm going to let you in on a little inside ball here.
01:28:57 This is not a road you want to go down with Will.
01:28:59 Will and I got into an argument about this.
01:29:01 I was like, so it's really eight.
01:29:02 - Right, that's where I'm at right now.
01:29:04 - I know, I understand where you're at.
01:29:05 - I hate to say this, but I agree with you.
01:29:06 - Will and I got a full wrestling match about this.
01:29:08 Relationship was--
01:29:10 - Why do you think eight?
01:29:11 - Oh, fuck, here we go.
01:29:13 - Because you got to go out on the field for--
01:29:17 - I did.
01:29:18 - Three games, on Sunday.
01:29:19 - Oh, three games.
01:29:20 I went out on Sunday, one tackle, stat sheet.
01:29:22 - One game?
01:29:23 - 2013, back to the one--
01:29:24 - Yeah, you need three games.
01:29:26 - So you think you need to play three games
01:29:28 to be considered, oh, you played in the NFL for a year.
01:29:30 - Yes.
01:29:31 - I think you're wrong.
01:29:33 - Well, we can agree to disagree.
01:29:35 - I mean, I know what my pension says.
01:29:36 It's nine years.
01:29:37 You were in the PA, you get the rules, so it's nine years.
01:29:40 It's because your ego wants to tell me it's only eight.
01:29:43 I would argue that a practice squad year is even harder--
01:29:45 - That's not to do with my ego, but if I played one year
01:29:48 and was one game and I was healthy,
01:29:50 I wouldn't be like, I wouldn't count that as a year.
01:29:53 - Why not?
01:29:54 You're not proud of it?
01:29:55 - No, it's like playing one hole of golf
01:29:57 and being like, yeah, I golfed today.
01:29:59 (laughing)
01:30:00 Walking off the course.
01:30:01 - That's golfing.
01:30:02 - There's 18 holes, there's 17 games.
01:30:05 You wouldn't play one game and then leave and say,
01:30:08 I played it and had a feel this year.
01:30:10 - Now, you'll have to help me out with golf rules.
01:30:12 - Your boys just chirped you.
01:30:13 They laughed when I said,
01:30:14 if you like playing one hole and walking off--
01:30:16 - They enjoy this, they enjoy this.
01:30:17 But I'll say in the golfing world,
01:30:19 if you go throughout the entire year of tournaments
01:30:21 or whatever, and one guy who's an amateur gets to play
01:30:23 in one pro golf AM tournament,
01:30:25 they are now considered a pro golfer for that year.
01:30:28 - No, I don't think they are.
01:30:30 - Are you a pro golfer?
01:30:32 - Fuck no.
01:30:33 - You know what I mean?
01:30:35 Like you're losing me here.
01:30:36 I don't know where your argument is.
01:30:37 I just thought you got hurt.
01:30:39 Like if you got hurt, you were able bodied.
01:30:41 - All yours is this.
01:30:42 - You were able bodied.
01:30:43 - No, I don't think that's right.
01:30:44 That's your argument.
01:30:45 - No, my argument is, is if I was healthy
01:30:50 and only played one game of a season,
01:30:53 I wouldn't in my mind count that as a season.
01:30:57 I would count that as one game.
01:31:01 - Did you play in the NFL this year?
01:31:03 - Did you play, yeah, there you go.
01:31:05 Fred, did you play in the NFL this year?
01:31:07 And you played one game and you got a tackle on kickoff.
01:31:10 - I would say, kinda, but I was on a practice squad
01:31:15 and I got called up one game, but I mean,
01:31:17 I really wouldn't like want to like promote that.
01:31:20 - And I said, brother, don't worry about that shit.
01:31:22 You fucking did it.
01:31:23 - You got that 401k, you got that Burt Bell.
01:31:25 - Don't discourage yourself.
01:31:26 - You got that Burt Bell pension plan.
01:31:28 - Yeah, be proud of it.
01:31:30 - I don't think I could.
01:31:32 I don't think, I would say year,
01:31:35 we're looking for year nine.
01:31:36 I gotta get a new jersey.
01:31:37 - No, we don't have to.
01:31:38 I tell you what we could do.
01:31:40 - I didn't, they changed that.
01:31:41 - You sent me to a deal.
01:31:42 - They went back and retrofit that practice squad thing.
01:31:46 That wasn't always like that.
01:31:48 - Are you talking about how they rolled those in?
01:31:50 - Yeah.
01:31:51 - Yeah, I think.
01:31:52 - I don't think that was ever like that.
01:31:53 - I want to say Lorenzo Alexander was,
01:31:55 he was somebody that was a pioneer for something like that.
01:31:57 'Cause he had two practice squad years.
01:31:59 They only count one of them.
01:32:01 - No, that's awesome.
01:32:02 I mean, for guys that then once you become vested,
01:32:05 they go back and count that year for your pension.
01:32:07 - Yeah, yeah.
01:32:08 So nine years.
01:32:10 - Looking for 10.
01:32:12 - Nine years.
01:32:13 We had 10.
01:32:14 - Do you want to work out?
01:32:15 - We had 10.
01:32:16 - Do you want to work out?
01:32:18 - What do you mean?
01:32:19 - Like do like a workout.
01:32:21 You know what I mean?
01:32:22 Like we can set up a workout.
01:32:23 - You're saying Titans bring me in for a workout?
01:32:25 - Yeah, I mean, or I could go like, you know,
01:32:27 work out a boost, watch it boost,
01:32:29 see what it looks like in the morning.
01:32:31 - Can we record it and be like,
01:32:32 this is for Ray giving Will Compton a private workout
01:32:34 for the potential of year 10?
01:32:36 - Yeah, I mean, you can put it on the internet.
01:32:38 Extra 25, maybe 30, 40, whatever the content is.
01:32:41 - Now it's like out of nowhere.
01:32:43 - For the kids, man.
01:32:44 - We could probably do 25 on that,
01:32:46 'cause I think our fine for 10 minutes late is 25.
01:32:48 - No, it's not.
01:32:49 - It'd be tough to tell your wife.
01:32:51 She's going to be like, "Why aren't they paying me?"
01:32:53 - How many guys did I find on their first time being late?
01:32:55 - You got a warning letter, you got a mulligan,
01:32:58 got a breakfast ball.
01:32:59 - You didn't show up to Beer Olympics,
01:33:00 that's strike one, two, and three right there.
01:33:02 - I communicated, but did I not communicate?
01:33:04 - Yeah, but still a warning.
01:33:05 You're still at the warning letter.
01:33:06 - I communicated.
01:33:07 - But after the show started.
01:33:08 - I communicated.
01:33:09 It was not after.
01:33:10 - You know what?
01:33:11 We got receipts, I'll check it right now.
01:33:12 If I get this text after 12,
01:33:15 we got to have a conversation.
01:33:17 Well, let's go back to this tryout real quick.
01:33:20 Did I get a tryout?
01:33:22 - No, you, no.
01:33:24 - You just signed me?
01:33:25 You don't have to do a tryout?
01:33:26 - No.
01:33:27 - Here's how we can do your-
01:33:28 - No, you just signed me?
01:33:29 - No, because I don't think that those legs
01:33:33 will make it through the workout.
01:33:35 - You're probably right.
01:33:37 You are probably correct.
01:33:38 - What do you think about these legs?
01:33:39 - It's like you've been working some squats.
01:33:41 - Hey, that's a good compliment.
01:33:43 I appreciate that.
01:33:44 - You've been grinding?
01:33:46 - I'm glad you noticed.
01:33:48 - Do you work out with anybody or just by yourself?
01:33:50 - By myself.
01:33:51 - Do you think you get enough out of it?
01:33:52 Are you self-motivated enough to really push yourself?
01:33:55 - Yeah.
01:33:56 - Like you need to, like you did back in Nebraska?
01:33:58 - Those are different.
01:34:00 - Cornhusker Candy.
01:34:01 - 1157.
01:34:02 - No, I was so-
01:34:03 - 1157 got a call into an emergency meeting
01:34:06 at the golf course.
01:34:07 - So I texted before noon.
01:34:10 - That's almost like, I'm still going to come and do a show.
01:34:12 - Correct.
01:34:13 - That should have been at 1115.
01:34:14 - Now you know how I feel when dudes text me that
01:34:17 three minutes before the team meeting.
01:34:18 - And you'd probably still send them a letter of-
01:34:20 - But as a head man, you still got to make a decision.
01:34:22 We're making the decision.
01:34:23 - Yeah, check the wait outside for him.
01:34:25 - You live five minutes away from me, not three minutes.
01:34:28 So you'd have been late regardless.
01:34:30 - I wasn't coming from home.
01:34:32 - Richland is by our home as well.
01:34:34 - I know.
01:34:35 Tea time was noon.
01:34:37 - What do you think about a one-day contract?
01:34:41 - For who?
01:34:44 And then what would you do after the one day was over?
01:34:49 Like have a formal announcement or?
01:34:51 - Yeah, like press conference at the Titans facility.
01:34:53 You there, you talk on my behalf,
01:34:55 talk about how great of a player I was,
01:34:56 potential Ring of Honor candidate.
01:34:58 But he's somebody who wants to step down.
01:34:59 He doesn't like the spotlight.
01:35:00 - You only played like 14 games for us, didn't you?
01:35:02 - Crazy how much of an impact I've made.
01:35:04 - I know, in the community.
01:35:05 - It's probably why you guys signed up.
01:35:07 You see free agents, that did pan out.
01:35:09 - Because there are examples.
01:35:11 Yeah, I'll get back to you.
01:35:13 I mean, I think that that's a good idea.
01:35:15 We could certainly try to raise some money for charity
01:35:17 and try to have a one-day contract.
01:35:20 You and Taylor, do like a little combo platter.
01:35:23 - I'd like to have my own.
01:35:25 - I think Taylor deserves his own moment.
01:35:28 - You speaking for Taylor or you speak for yourself?
01:35:31 - You're right, you're right.
01:35:32 I think I deserve my own moment.
01:35:34 - Okay, I disagree.
01:35:36 - Why is that?
01:35:37 - Because.
01:35:39 - You feel like you gotta like, what,
01:35:41 catch 17 touchdowns and have sacks and shit in this league?
01:35:43 - No, I just think that
01:35:45 as much impact as you could possibly make in 14 games,
01:35:48 you did.
01:35:49 But you need more than 14 games to have a one-day contract.
01:35:53 - Hang on, number one, 14 games is not, that's not,
01:35:56 you're just saying that.
01:35:57 - I am just saying that.
01:35:58 - More than 14 games.
01:35:59 - How many was it?
01:36:00 - I don't know, maybe in the 20s?
01:36:01 - You think it was 20?
01:36:02 - I don't know.
01:36:03 - Well, you had 16 and 18.
01:36:05 - You didn't cut me in the first year.
01:36:07 - Okay, well, I was just being funny when I said 14.
01:36:10 They're about to find out.
01:36:11 - Yeah, I understand your humor.
01:36:13 I get that you was, you know what?
01:36:15 - Here we go.
01:36:16 Oh, there's 12 games.
01:36:21 - 12 and 12, 24.
01:36:23 - All right.
01:36:25 - 24?
01:36:26 - Hey, that's worth a-
01:36:27 - You put 12 together that 20 year?
01:36:29 Hell yeah.
01:36:31 - Thank you.
01:36:33 You thought you had me cutting on the Peace Corps for a while?
01:36:36 Something happened and somebody got hurt
01:36:38 and I had to all of a sudden like,
01:36:40 do one walkthrough for Lamar Jackson in that offense.
01:36:43 - You ended up playing.
01:36:44 - Jayon breaks his fucking elbow in the game.
01:36:46 - But you ended up playing the Bronco game too.
01:36:49 - But he came in here Ravens, dude.
01:36:51 You remember that run game?
01:36:52 - Yeah, it was brutal.
01:36:53 - The pullers, quarterback, just find a guy with the ball.
01:36:57 - That's gotta be a hard thing to do.
01:36:59 - But he did.
01:37:00 I will give you credit.
01:37:01 Now that you told me that Jayon snapped his elbow,
01:37:04 I'm like, "Will, where's his helmet?"
01:37:08 - Ray was like, Ray was everything he could do
01:37:10 just not get me on the field.
01:37:12 - Oh, Jesus God.
01:37:13 - You're a locker room guy.
01:37:14 - Glue guy.
01:37:16 - Yeah, your place is not necessarily on the field.
01:37:18 It's in the locker room.
01:37:19 You're a morale guy.
01:37:20 You're a good jester.
01:37:22 - What if we let you do like a bus,
01:37:24 like a remote bus and do it in from the locker room?
01:37:27 - Do what?
01:37:28 - Like do a bus from the locker room.
01:37:29 - That's a great idea, but-
01:37:30 - I should have you come to the office.
01:37:32 - No, I was thinking about inviting you to the office
01:37:34 and doing it in the office.
01:37:35 - We would have absolutely done it,
01:37:36 but as you told me, my code access is retired.
01:37:39 - I know, I would have had to meet you.
01:37:41 - No, you would have had to let us in.
01:37:43 - Let security know.
01:37:44 - My code will not work anymore.
01:37:45 - Compton and Lujan will be here.
01:37:47 Yeah, but I was figuring I wanted to come see the new digs.
01:37:51 - What else?
01:37:53 - Speaking of one day, one day contracts,
01:37:55 are you excited to speak for me someday?
01:37:57 - Where are we speaking?
01:38:00 - Whatever, when I eventually retire.
01:38:02 - You haven't?
01:38:04 - No, what?
01:38:05 - I'm available.
01:38:06 - I'm sorry?
01:38:08 - We talked about the knees, we know where the knees are at.
01:38:10 - Yes, anything you ask me, I'll talk you.
01:38:14 - Yeah, I want you to-
01:38:15 - We're gonna have a party?
01:38:16 - I want you to gas me up.
01:38:17 - We're gonna have a party?
01:38:18 - Yeah, we're gonna get hammered on the 50 yard line
01:38:20 of the Nissan Stadium.
01:38:21 - I sent you my press release the one time, the one night.
01:38:25 And you're like, "Oh, I don't get a press release?"
01:38:27 - Yeah, well, you did say some really cool things about Ben
01:38:29 and I kind of did get salty.
01:38:31 I was in my own emotions about that.
01:38:32 - And my press release, I came back with some heat.
01:38:34 - And I love that we're talking about this.
01:38:36 Sometimes I feel a little awkward in that chat.
01:38:38 - It's like you'll have me as like a buffer to come in-
01:38:43 - Well, same thing when you two are talking,
01:38:44 I'll just kind of sit there and watch the show.
01:38:46 Like get the popcorn out.
01:38:47 - And I always feel like this is like the fucking
01:38:49 British Bulldogs and I'm like just the one guy
01:38:52 and it's like tag team.
01:38:53 - You probably think we're sitting next to each other.
01:38:55 - Right, you don't?
01:38:56 - You do a great job.
01:38:57 - You don't live with him?
01:38:58 - You do a good job of deferring.
01:38:59 You just, you do a good job of like-
01:39:02 - Wait, you have your own place?
01:39:04 Here in town?
01:39:05 - He took me in during the free agency,
01:39:07 part of the first year,
01:39:08 but yes, I do have my own place now.
01:39:10 - Congratulations.
01:39:11 - Thank you, thank you.
01:39:12 I have a family.
01:39:13 - I knew that, but I thought they all just stayed with-
01:39:16 - Yeah, we all just stay at the Lawan residence.
01:39:18 That would be tight, I would enjoy that.
01:39:20 I do like it.
01:39:21 - It's like Beer Olympics every day.
01:39:22 - Man, you didn't miss out on a hell of a deal.
01:39:25 - I could tell.
01:39:26 - It was awesome.
01:39:27 What was I talking about the-
01:39:28 - You're probably talking about some of the group chat.
01:39:30 - No, oh, yeah, you do a good job of,
01:39:32 if Will and I start coming at you, you'll-
01:39:34 - Then go at what?
01:39:35 - You do a good job of just putting a dead stop on it,
01:39:37 which Will and I will then text each other
01:39:39 just one-on-one about it.
01:39:40 - I bet.
01:39:41 But it's like, enough's enough.
01:39:42 If I'm going in on one guy,
01:39:43 I don't need the other guy, like,
01:39:45 I can say-
01:39:46 - We're a team.
01:39:47 - But I don't feel like in that situation,
01:39:50 a teamwork really,
01:39:52 it's supposed to be like,
01:39:53 I'm looking for you to enjoy my joke on Will.
01:39:57 Just like in the event
01:39:59 that you would make a joke about Will,
01:40:01 I would enjoy it as the other person.
01:40:04 - You're looking for the three of us to work in unison.
01:40:06 - I'm just looking like a little pat on the back
01:40:08 as opposed to like-
01:40:09 - I can respect that.
01:40:10 - Well, Brave's coming after us,
01:40:11 we gotta do something.
01:40:12 He's mad at us for some reason.
01:40:13 - Yeah.
01:40:14 - Yeah, I can see that.
01:40:15 - Boys unite, you know what I mean?
01:40:16 Whatever.
01:40:17 So what's the next step here for you guys, man?
01:40:18 Where are we going with this thing?
01:40:19 - With the bus?
01:40:20 - Yeah.
01:40:21 - Sounds like Titans facility.
01:40:22 - They're in camp.
01:40:23 - No, we do got a training camp tour coming up.
01:40:26 We're going to a couple-
01:40:27 - How many stops?
01:40:28 - Just a couple, like two.
01:40:29 - Two, is that a tour?
01:40:31 Does two stops count as a tour?
01:40:32 - Anything more than one.
01:40:33 - Anything more than one.
01:40:34 - That's what Paramount Plus is asking for.
01:40:36 That's what we'll deliver.
01:40:37 - Is that who we're now working with now, Paramount Plus?
01:40:39 - We'll be a partner.
01:40:40 - Ladies and gentlemen,
01:40:41 we interrupt this episode to bring you an ad read,
01:40:43 and that ad read is Body Armor.
01:40:45 Body Armor is the official hydration partner
01:40:48 of Bustin' with the boys.
01:40:50 - The boys hydrate with Body Armor
01:40:52 and ride with Team Body Armor.
01:40:55 - We have been drinking Body Armor from the beginning
01:40:58 because we have, they have the best products,
01:41:01 best flavors, best ingredients, best athlete partners.
01:41:05 - No artificial stuff, no fake ingredients,
01:41:07 real hydration with electrolytes, potassium,
01:41:10 vitamins, and more.
01:41:11 - We fly through this stuff, dude.
01:41:13 We really do.
01:41:14 If you haven't tried it, you are living under a rock.
01:41:17 You need to get on the Body Armor wave.
01:41:19 - Some of the top athletes in the world
01:41:21 drink this over Gatorade and the competition.
01:41:23 I'm talking Trey Young, Christian McCaffrey,
01:41:25 Alex Morgan, Donovan Mitchell, Ronald Acuna, Sabrina.
01:41:29 - Go ahead.
01:41:30 Aya.
01:41:32 - Loneska?
01:41:33 Oh no, that's not a L.
01:41:35 - No, that's capital L.
01:41:36 - Ineska.
01:41:37 - Ineska.
01:41:38 - Ineska, Will Compton, Taylor LeJuan, and more.
01:41:40 Favorite, oh yeah, that's you.
01:41:41 - My favorite flavor personally
01:41:42 is gonna be that strawberry banana flavor.
01:41:45 That stuff, dude, it is so legit.
01:41:47 We stay drinking this stuff in the office,
01:41:49 at the gym, on the golf course,
01:41:51 most of the will on the golf course,
01:41:53 when we're hungover, all Body Armor, all the time.
01:41:57 - Buy Body Armor now on Amazon.
01:42:00 Back to the episode.
01:42:01 - Then we got--
01:42:02 - You going on a tour?
01:42:03 Where are you going, Oakland?
01:42:04 That's your boy.
01:42:05 - We were trying to figure it out, Vegas.
01:42:06 - That's your boy.
01:42:07 - How about Zig?
01:42:08 - Zig is the homie.
01:42:09 You're the homie.
01:42:10 - Where else you going?
01:42:13 You gonna slide into the old Patriots
01:42:16 when you guys are in New England?
01:42:17 - So Bill, can you give us one word answers?
01:42:19 - Yeah, I'll get you in.
01:42:20 - Will Bill do an interview with us?
01:42:22 - No.
01:42:23 - Then what are we doing?
01:42:24 - Like no chance at all, you think?
01:42:26 - None.
01:42:27 - Who do you think we have a better shot at,
01:42:28 Nick Saban or Bill Belichick?
01:42:30 - Saban.
01:42:33 - What's--
01:42:34 - Saban.
01:42:35 You know why?
01:42:36 Recruiting.
01:42:37 - Good.
01:42:38 - Yeah, he's right.
01:42:39 - That's the point.
01:42:40 - What do you think, like,
01:42:41 what is Bill Belichick in your phone under?
01:42:43 - Bill.
01:42:45 - Daddy.
01:42:46 - Is it dad?
01:42:47 - It's Bill.
01:42:48 - Papa.
01:42:49 - Just Bill?
01:42:50 - Just Bill.
01:42:51 - What's the name you hate the most?
01:42:53 - Bill or Vrabes.
01:42:55 - The nickname.
01:42:57 - Mine?
01:43:01 Daddy?
01:43:02 - Baby Belichick.
01:43:03 - I'd have never even heard that.
01:43:05 - Oh, Vrabe, you've heard that.
01:43:07 - No, I haven't.
01:43:08 - Patriots of the South?
01:43:11 - Yeah.
01:43:12 - You guys, is that--
01:43:13 - No, no, that's not a thing.
01:43:14 I'd probably pull the video up.
01:43:16 - Yeah, I don't hear Baby Belichick much.
01:43:18 - That wasn't a play on me.
01:43:20 - Yeah, not me throwing that at you.
01:43:22 - How'd it feel good, though, in '19,
01:43:23 playing the Patriots and kind of using
01:43:25 the rules to your advantage?
01:43:27 It had to be a nice "fuck you."
01:43:28 - Felt great, whatever we can win.
01:43:30 Big game.
01:43:31 - What are you talking about, like, on special teams?
01:43:32 - Yeah, the punt, they do the delay game,
01:43:34 the offsides.
01:43:35 They literally changed the rule the next year.
01:43:37 And you know, Vrabes is over there
01:43:38 chewing on his gum, probably a nicotine gum.
01:43:40 - Got it.
01:43:41 - Looking at Bill's losing his mind.
01:43:43 - Free shout-outs.
01:43:44 - Yeah, you had to be fucking stoked on that.
01:43:47 - Did that fire you up?
01:43:48 - Yeah, that was a fire.
01:43:49 - Stretch was having a good time in the headset.
01:43:53 - Yeah.
01:43:54 - Stretch was enjoying it.
01:43:55 - Was that fire, were you getting fired up?
01:43:56 Well, like, not getting fired up, but...
01:43:57 - I was excited we could go on the road
01:43:58 and be a big underdog.
01:44:00 - Don't do that.
01:44:01 - Dude, you're like, "Yo, we fucking..."
01:44:02 - Hey, ask us some real questions.
01:44:03 - This is a mentor, a guy you played for
01:44:05 and then worked under.
01:44:06 - Absolutely.
01:44:07 - He's known as one of the greatest stretchers
01:44:08 of all time, and you beat him in his own game.
01:44:10 - When we talked about going up there,
01:44:12 I said they have lost two games in January
01:44:14 in, like, the last 15 fucking years.
01:44:17 So it was a big deal.
01:44:18 - Mm-hmm.
01:44:19 - You know what I mean?
01:44:20 To be able to help the team win a damn game.
01:44:23 - We've always played the Patriots well.
01:44:24 - Win a damn game and also, like, you know,
01:44:27 Patriots have always done...
01:44:28 - Oh, shit, going back there, I mean,
01:44:29 it's been eight years there.
01:44:30 You know what I mean?
01:44:31 It's like...
01:44:32 - Finding the little details in the rules.
01:44:34 - Right.
01:44:35 I mean, it was, of course, it was a big deal.
01:44:36 I mean, Tyler was able to come,
01:44:39 Carter was up there, you know what I mean?
01:44:40 It was cool.
01:44:41 - Oh, fucking...
01:44:42 - You do that?
01:44:43 Come on.
01:44:44 You know what we want.
01:44:45 - I went to Vrabe on the sidelines
01:44:46 sitting on the bench,
01:44:47 and I look, and I'm like, man, I bet...
01:44:48 - You want the Vrabe on the sidelines
01:44:49 that's mouthing to the DB?
01:44:50 I don't even know who the fuck you are.
01:44:51 - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:44:52 - That's who you want.
01:44:53 - Or, you know, talking shit with the boys, whatever.
01:44:55 - Yeah.
01:44:56 - Like, I just...
01:44:57 Did it feel good?
01:44:58 - I didn't know who that one guy was.
01:44:59 - No, yeah, that's fair.
01:45:00 Yeah, I didn't know who it was either.
01:45:01 But he was talking shit to Vrabes,
01:45:03 and he just mustached Vrabe.
01:45:05 That's who we want.
01:45:06 - He chirped.
01:45:07 He chirped the wrong dude.
01:45:08 - He chirped the wrong one.
01:45:09 - He didn't come correct.
01:45:11 - No, I was like...
01:45:12 - No.
01:45:13 - I was like, I don't even know who you are.
01:45:14 - I did not know you were mic'd up one day
01:45:16 when we were playing Houston,
01:45:17 doing fucking two minute over and over again
01:45:19 all in the half.
01:45:20 - What do you want us to do?
01:45:21 - They cut it.
01:45:22 - What a fucking score.
01:45:23 - Yeah, yeah, but you know how that fucking sounds.
01:45:25 I literally go up to him, you've seen the clip.
01:45:27 I'm like, hey, what are we thinking
01:45:28 about this next two minutes?
01:45:29 Are we like playing regular...
01:45:30 I'm thinking, are we playing regular ball,
01:45:32 or are we doing two minute?
01:45:34 'Cause it's only a one score game now,
01:45:36 and there's plenty of time on the clock.
01:45:37 - You're not explaining to me.
01:45:38 - You're explaining to everybody.
01:45:39 - He's defending himself.
01:45:40 - I am, and you just go, we score,
01:45:42 and I'm thinking, that's a body bag.
01:45:44 - Points.
01:45:45 - I think no one will ever hear that,
01:45:47 and then sure enough, it's a clip the next week.
01:45:49 - It's good.
01:45:50 - I was like, god damn it.
01:45:51 - Stretch gets the okay all those, so.
01:45:53 - She goes, hey, how valuable is Stretch?
01:45:56 Talk about fucking Stretch, the fucking flowers.
01:45:59 - You ought to get him on the bus.
01:46:00 - He won't.
01:46:01 - He wouldn't come on.
01:46:02 - Stretch knows where the bones are buried.
01:46:04 - There's no question.
01:46:05 - He does.
01:46:06 - There's no question.
01:46:07 - He fucking does, dude.
01:46:08 - Sitting out there, right outside your office,
01:46:10 he's got no windows.
01:46:11 - None.
01:46:12 - He just fucking hangs out in there.
01:46:13 - None.
01:46:14 - I would love to sit with him.
01:46:15 - Just watch games.
01:46:16 - All day.
01:46:17 - Just watch film.
01:46:18 - Is Stretch just a situational master?
01:46:20 - He is really, really good, man.
01:46:23 Him and I watch a lot of tape together,
01:46:25 watch a lot of games.
01:46:26 He goes through, he helps me put that Friday tape together,
01:46:28 and things are gemmed.
01:46:30 You miss it, don't you?
01:46:31 - I miss the Fridays every now and then.
01:46:33 - I might send him to you guys,
01:46:34 so you guys can watch him.
01:46:35 - I don't miss those faces,
01:46:37 just fucking, I don't miss that.
01:46:40 - Two for one spashes?
01:46:41 - Yeah, the two for one spash.
01:46:43 - Two for one spash.
01:46:44 - Why?
01:46:45 - Late a dish.
01:46:46 - You didn't like that?
01:46:47 - I don't miss the face.
01:46:48 - It just depends on the day.
01:46:49 It just depends on the day.
01:46:50 - On what, you tired?
01:46:51 - No, if you're PMSing or not.
01:46:53 - No, it was always--
01:46:54 - You'll be in on Friday, and then you'll realize,
01:46:56 you might come in on Saturday, and it's like,
01:46:58 Friday night, Friday night,
01:47:00 didn't go the way Ray wanted.
01:47:01 He didn't get that.
01:47:02 - Thursday night, it was, yeah.
01:47:04 But I gotta tell him, they can't fuck with me.
01:47:06 I gotta tell him, they can't fuck up my Friday.
01:47:08 You know what I mean?
01:47:09 - Your Friday got fucked up so much.
01:47:11 - Right, but I tried to tell them that,
01:47:12 that they couldn't.
01:47:13 And it was like, somebody's gonna,
01:47:15 more than got one.
01:47:16 - You would just fuck up everybody else's Friday,
01:47:17 but nobody's gonna fuck up yours.
01:47:18 - Right.
01:47:19 - That's not true.
01:47:20 - I've changed.
01:47:21 - You have, you have, bro.
01:47:22 - Yeah, which is kind of what we went to in 2018.
01:47:24 - I've changed.
01:47:25 - 2018, it was like, what Braves are we getting today?
01:47:28 'Cause there'd be happy Braves,
01:47:29 and then there'd be--
01:47:30 - Try to be the same guy every day.
01:47:31 - Yeah, but in 2018, we weren't that.
01:47:33 - We were all kind of feeling each other out.
01:47:34 - No question.
01:47:35 - Kind of like the--
01:47:36 - Right here.
01:47:37 - Courtship.
01:47:38 - Jogging up to the line,
01:47:39 which I'm willing to go back and talk about if you want.
01:47:40 - No, I'm not willing to have that conversation.
01:47:42 - That's okay.
01:47:43 - What did you ultimately do?
01:47:45 - I went to the fucking line.
01:47:46 - No shit.
01:47:47 - I was getting tired of getting yelled at.
01:47:48 - I'll tell you what, I will say this.
01:47:49 - It's mostly Keith fucking in the back all the time.
01:47:52 That shit would make me so mad.
01:47:54 And then another thing,
01:47:56 the jogging up to the line in pre-pre-practice
01:47:58 before the warmup in the walkthrough,
01:48:00 I don't gotta,
01:48:01 everything's full speed to the ball is snapped.
01:48:03 We don't even warm yet.
01:48:04 - Operation, operation, operation.
01:48:06 - Operation's great, but we're walking through.
01:48:08 And I've already done a whole Indy drill.
01:48:10 - The full speed--
01:48:11 - Adolph Carter over there, dude,
01:48:13 wants me to fucking rip around.
01:48:14 - The full speed to the ball is snapped
01:48:16 was designed for your brain.
01:48:19 - Yeah.
01:48:20 - So that mentally,
01:48:21 you were operating at full speed,
01:48:23 but when the ball was snapped,
01:48:25 it was just a light jog.
01:48:27 - Yes, except for the fact--
01:48:29 - Except for the fact--
01:48:30 - Also, when people would wear tennis shoes
01:48:34 or too much comfortable stuff out on the field.
01:48:36 - Yeah, you get hot at that.
01:48:37 - Full speed until it's snapped,
01:48:38 because it's like,
01:48:39 then he can say,
01:48:40 "Hey, why don't you wear--
01:48:41 - No, I never said that.
01:48:42 - I'm not talking about that.
01:48:43 I'm not talking about like a Saturday walkthrough.
01:48:44 - No, he's--
01:48:45 - I'm talking about Wednesday, Wednesday.
01:48:47 - Oh, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha.
01:48:48 - We have full pads on,
01:48:49 it's fucking humid outside.
01:48:51 And then I've already done an Indy and a half,
01:48:53 plus a walkthrough going over protection.
01:48:56 Then we,
01:48:57 or new and review as Keith would call it,
01:48:59 then we go to that and we're like,
01:49:00 "Hey, we're jogging."
01:49:01 - Pro football player complaining.
01:49:02 - And then Keith goes--
01:49:03 - Imagine that.
01:49:04 - That's all right, that's all right.
01:49:05 Keith goes,
01:49:06 "Hey, it is a jog through,
01:49:07 "but I'll let you guys know,
01:49:08 "we have to go just a little bit faster than D-line."
01:49:11 Which you know that's gonna cause--
01:49:12 - 1% rule.
01:49:13 - It's ridiculous.
01:49:14 - You gotta go 1% harder than the guy across from you.
01:49:16 - You gotta think to yourself,
01:49:17 how do they not see me?
01:49:19 - Remember Tart's rookie year?
01:49:21 Couldn't run a play,
01:49:22 it was a fight every play.
01:49:23 - Dude.
01:49:24 - Him and Levin, I'm like,
01:49:25 "Something's gotta give here guys."
01:49:27 Literally just trying to help each other out.
01:49:29 Jog through,
01:49:30 stay on sides,
01:49:31 stay off the ground,
01:49:33 and know where you guys are going to.
01:49:35 And then ultimately it's just like--
01:49:36 - And then you gotta go--
01:49:37 - How do we fight in a fucking jog?
01:49:39 Just go stretch.
01:49:40 - And then we gotta go to meetings after,
01:49:42 and Keith pulls up the jog through,
01:49:45 which is fine 'cause we're going over
01:49:46 if there's MAs or something like that.
01:49:47 - Landmark.
01:49:48 - But he's talking about how our effort is bad
01:49:50 in the jog through,
01:49:51 and I'm thinking,
01:49:52 "What are we talking about here?"
01:49:53 - No, I mean I get that.
01:49:54 I mean there's certain things where it's like,
01:49:56 the reason for the jog through
01:49:57 was for us to steal reps.
01:49:59 - Yeah.
01:50:00 - Steal reps and not having to go full speed or live,
01:50:04 and then ultimately during practice,
01:50:07 those same plays are gonna repeat,
01:50:10 and you maybe have a chance to fix it
01:50:13 or know what's coming or storm alert.
01:50:16 - Yeah.
01:50:17 - I used to love that.
01:50:18 - Love the storm.
01:50:19 - When in doubt,
01:50:20 just yell storm alert.
01:50:21 - And then if you're wrong--
01:50:22 - It doesn't matter.
01:50:23 - Storm alert.
01:50:24 - I said it.
01:50:25 - Alert movement, storm alert.
01:50:26 - CYA, CYA.
01:50:27 - Tyler just threw it all out there.
01:50:28 - Oh yeah, I'm talking.
01:50:29 - Games, movement, storm alert.
01:50:30 - It would blow my mind
01:50:31 'cause Ben, obviously me, Roger, and Ben
01:50:34 would be very talkative,
01:50:36 and Ben would be like,
01:50:37 "You know, Nate, he didn't say a fucking word."
01:50:39 - Still hasn't.
01:50:40 - David Lee wouldn't say a word,
01:50:41 Nick didn't say anything.
01:50:42 It's like, "Guys, you guys just be loud.
01:50:44 "All you gotta do is be loud,
01:50:45 "then they think you're doing something."
01:50:46 - On the jog to the line,
01:50:47 I will say if you're a defender and you're--
01:50:50 - Don't, please don't.
01:50:51 - Don't.
01:50:52 - Don't, please don't.
01:50:53 - It is true, and you're a little bit tired--
01:50:56 - Intimidation.
01:50:57 - And you see a run to the line of scrimmage,
01:50:59 you know.
01:51:00 - Thank you.
01:51:01 - Depending on the type of team you are.
01:51:02 - I'm thinking--
01:51:03 - Coach's kid.
01:51:04 - Yeah.
01:51:05 - Coach's kid, gym rat.
01:51:06 - You're fucking right, brother, hell yeah.
01:51:08 (laughing)
01:51:11 - I get that.
01:51:12 In the fourth, then call,
01:51:14 what's it called when we fast break?
01:51:16 - Think about--
01:51:17 - Feed break.
01:51:18 - Think about, and obviously the Titans
01:51:20 have been good since then too,
01:51:21 but when you guys had the run to the AFC championship,
01:51:24 the way the run game was clicking,
01:51:26 or the Ravens that one year when
01:51:27 we ended up beating them in the fourth,
01:51:29 and AJ or Derek's breaking all these tackles at the end,
01:51:31 and you're showing the highlights.
01:51:33 - And then Derek busts a run in overtime.
01:51:35 - Guys, this is what happens when,
01:51:36 it is like, yo, the boys are fucking juicy out there.
01:51:40 You guys' AFC year, it was literally--
01:51:42 - And guys are coming off the bench.
01:51:43 - Yeah, when you guys went nine and seven,
01:51:44 you're going into each playoff game.
01:51:46 Once you beat New England,
01:51:47 that was kind of the one,
01:51:48 like as a fan perspective,
01:51:49 you're kind of like, if they beat them,
01:51:51 when you guys beat them, it's like,
01:51:52 yo, they're gonna fucking beat Baltimore
01:51:54 just because a lot of that juice and momentum.
01:51:57 - That game was a bloodbath too.
01:51:59 It was an absolute bloodbath.
01:52:00 - Yeah.
01:52:01 - Have you, the offensive line--
01:52:02 - Nine on seven.
01:52:03 - The offensive line, and the AFC championship run,
01:52:06 I mean, have you seen better ball as a unison?
01:52:08 - I love watching that line of scrimmage move.
01:52:10 - Dude, three of the same fucking plays
01:52:13 over and over again.
01:52:14 Zorro, Zach, Cuatro, Zorro, Zach.
01:52:16 - Even to the right, odd to the left.
01:52:17 - Yeah, just fucking run.
01:52:19 And I had to hit a high tower like six times.
01:52:21 You know, I went 500.
01:52:23 - High tower's a thick, he's a thick boy, dude.
01:52:26 - And then what was it there?
01:52:27 What was the Brave saying?
01:52:28 What was it, hyenas?
01:52:29 - Yeah.
01:52:30 - Yeah.
01:52:31 - 'Cause I remember Tom's social media, dude,
01:52:33 like put on something about that.
01:52:34 - Being the lion or whatever?
01:52:36 Taylor, call me.
01:52:37 - Tom Brady posted something.
01:52:38 - Right, like that morning.
01:52:40 - Yeah, the hyenas and all that.
01:52:42 So go ahead, yeah.
01:52:43 - Taylor FaceTimed me right after the meeting.
01:52:45 I guess you did the hyena thing or something.
01:52:48 And it was just, I don't know,
01:52:49 talking about how just juicy it was on.
01:52:51 - It was a nice fucking.
01:52:53 - It was good, it was good.
01:52:55 - That clip was awesome that Brady put out.
01:52:57 And I hit the boys up.
01:52:58 I was like, you need to flip this.
01:53:00 If we win, you gotta flip this.
01:53:02 And it was elite.
01:53:04 Had to feel good for Brady.
01:53:06 - What else do we have?
01:53:07 - I got a question.
01:53:08 I got one.
01:53:09 - Go ahead.
01:53:10 - If you take the Titans out of it,
01:53:12 if you're gonna coach one NFL team,
01:53:15 what team would you want that to be?
01:53:17 - Oh, we're not doing that.
01:53:19 - What do you mean?
01:53:20 - 'Cause there's 31 other teams.
01:53:23 I got one job.
01:53:25 I can only coach one team at a time, man.
01:53:27 - Yeah, but you know, you play in Tennessee.
01:53:28 - No, we're not playing that game.
01:53:29 - You play the Patriots.
01:53:30 - We're not playing that.
01:53:31 - Steelers.
01:53:32 - No.
01:53:33 Tennessee.
01:53:34 I would literally, obviously,
01:53:36 wanna see this thing through, man.
01:53:38 We'll get a new stadium.
01:53:40 I mean, come on, dude.
01:53:41 That thing's gonna be sick.
01:53:42 - Yeah, it's gonna be sick.
01:53:44 - So that's my goal.
01:53:46 You know what I mean?
01:53:47 Especially in a career where there's a lot of movement.
01:53:50 And I'm proud that we've had some guys here
01:53:55 that have raised their family.
01:53:57 You look at some of these coaches
01:53:58 that have been with us for six years,
01:54:00 some of them, that's a long time.
01:54:04 A long time in any profession, especially coaching.
01:54:07 So that's what I'm worried about.
01:54:10 Not where the hell else would I wanna coach.
01:54:13 - What about college?
01:54:15 We do that?
01:54:16 - Fuck that.
01:54:17 - You would never do that?
01:54:18 - You see what those guys do?
01:54:20 - Ohio State was small for days ahead.
01:54:22 - You think you guys are gasped up on social media?
01:54:24 - No.
01:54:25 - Man.
01:54:26 - That is ridiculous.
01:54:27 - I'll tell you, if Raves ever did--
01:54:28 - What they're giving these guys to come
01:54:30 before they're even on campus.
01:54:32 And they're recruiting year-round in the transfer portal.
01:54:36 And if this guy doesn't start, he's leaving.
01:54:38 And that's a lot.
01:54:40 - Gotten soft in the brain.
01:54:42 - A lot.
01:54:43 - 'Cause there were a whole bunch of people.
01:54:44 - Huh?
01:54:45 - Gotten soft, hasn't it?
01:54:46 - I don't know if it's gotten soft,
01:54:47 but it's certainly--
01:54:48 - You call 'em pussy.
01:54:49 - You gotta, it's a lot of managing.
01:54:51 Uh-oh, hang in there, Slim.
01:54:53 There's a lot of just stuff that you have to deal with
01:54:57 outside of football.
01:54:58 - Yeah.
01:54:59 - I mean, this guy would be a big NIL guy.
01:55:02 - I'd take the money.
01:55:03 - He would be.
01:55:04 - There's no question.
01:55:05 - Big NIL.
01:55:06 You see some of those cars those guys are driving?
01:55:08 - If you would've gave me money in college,
01:55:10 I would literally be dead.
01:55:11 I really believe that.
01:55:12 - Do you see those cars?
01:55:13 - Yeah.
01:55:14 - I mean--
01:55:15 - I mean, him too.
01:55:16 - How is the NIL at Michigan?
01:55:17 They doing a good job?
01:55:18 - Yeah, I mean, we're, you know.
01:55:19 - Is it?
01:55:20 Okay.
01:55:21 - I have no idea what they're paying players,
01:55:22 but we see how they're doing right now.
01:55:24 We see, and I tell you what--
01:55:25 - They're doing a good job.
01:55:26 - Yeah.
01:55:27 I mean, they get that win in Columbus this past year.
01:55:29 - Oh, yeah.
01:55:30 - Two in a row, right?
01:55:31 - Two in a row.
01:55:32 - This year.
01:55:33 - They haven't beat us in three years.
01:55:34 - Big year.
01:55:35 - You trying to put something on it?
01:55:37 - We will.
01:55:38 - Good.
01:55:39 - What else you got for me?
01:55:42 - Who are, give me the three toughest players
01:55:47 you've ever played with as a player?
01:55:49 - Played with?
01:55:51 Brian Waters, last couple years of my career.
01:55:56 Seymour.
01:56:00 Rodney Harrison.
01:56:03 I guess that only gave me three, right?
01:56:07 - Give me a couple more.
01:56:08 It seems like you're--
01:56:09 - I mean, Joel Steed was a nose guard for Pittsburgh.
01:56:16 Levon Kirkland.
01:56:18 Jermondie Dawson was probably low-key
01:56:23 one of the best players I ever played with.
01:56:25 I didn't know anything about national football.
01:56:27 He would reach, man-reach three techniques.
01:56:29 He was a center.
01:56:30 I couldn't, it was amazing.
01:56:33 - He could move like that, huh?
01:56:34 - He could fly.
01:56:36 I mean, talk about helmet speed.
01:56:39 I mean.
01:56:41 I saw Ted Johnson break a guy's helmet.
01:56:49 Three-four defense.
01:56:51 Just, he lined up over the guard at like four yards
01:56:53 and was like straight ahead, no fair dodging.
01:56:56 Jamie Nails, like 350-pound guard for the Dolphins.
01:57:00 Ted hit him and his helmet broke like an eggshell.
01:57:05 I was like, holy shit.
01:57:07 Thank God that wasn't me.
01:57:09 - Seymour Harrison, are there any stories
01:57:12 that you're thinking about, like when you say their names?
01:57:15 - So we signed Rodney, kind of like maybe
01:57:20 right at the beginning at training camp or something.
01:57:23 Chargers had kind of cut him.
01:57:25 And so it was like one of those early,
01:57:26 like full padded practices and Kevin Falk
01:57:29 ran an angle route or something, I don't know.
01:57:31 And Rodney, like, he hit the shit out of him.
01:57:34 Like he hit him.
01:57:35 It wasn't like a thud.
01:57:36 It was like he hit him, he fell.
01:57:38 Rodney didn't go low or Rodney didn't like leave his feet
01:57:40 or hit him in the head or anything.
01:57:43 And everybody's like, "Woo!"
01:57:45 The other fans are all, Steve Neal,
01:57:49 the former wrestler was like left guard.
01:57:51 He runs out and he's telling Rodney, he's like,
01:57:53 "You can't hit him like that."
01:57:55 Everybody's like, "Shut up, fuck you.
01:57:57 I hit whoever I want."
01:57:58 O-line coach comes out, Dante comes out.
01:58:01 And he's like, "Man, you can't hit him like that."
01:58:04 He goes, "Shut up, I'll beat your ass too, old man."
01:58:07 Me and Brewski looked at each other like,
01:58:09 "Holy shit, we got one."
01:58:11 - We got one.
01:58:12 - This guy's a fucking savage.
01:58:13 - Jesus.
01:58:14 - And we laugh about it now, but like,
01:58:16 that's how Rodney was.
01:58:18 Like he didn't think he did anything wrong.
01:58:20 It was Kevin Falk.
01:58:21 He didn't like take a cheap shot on him.
01:58:23 Like he just hit him.
01:58:25 Me and Brew were like, "We got one."
01:58:29 - You guys had a fucking squad.
01:58:31 I mean, are there any early Brady stories
01:58:36 that people might not know about?
01:58:38 - I'm sure there's plenty of early Brady stories
01:58:41 people don't know about.
01:58:43 - What's one?
01:58:44 - They're not gonna--
01:58:45 - Oh, they're not--
01:58:46 - I'm gonna speak for myself.
01:58:48 Guidelines.
01:58:49 - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:58:50 - Who's the smartest player you've ever coached?
01:58:52 - From the Rafters.
01:58:53 - Rip it.
01:58:54 JP says, "Who is the smartest player you've ever coached?"
01:58:58 I know my vote.
01:59:00 - Probably Ben Jones, Max Bulla,
01:59:05 Einbacher.
01:59:06 - Oh, from Michigan State.
01:59:08 - You had him at Houston, yeah?
01:59:10 - Really?
01:59:11 That was out of nowhere.
01:59:12 I did not expect that.
01:59:13 - Just because I remember he didn't take a rep
01:59:15 and he could play like seven positions.
01:59:17 - For real?
01:59:18 - Didn't take a practice rep.
01:59:19 - He was nice at Michigan State.
01:59:21 - Yeah, he was.
01:59:22 - He could play Mike, play Will.
01:59:25 I mean, he played literally every position possible
01:59:28 and didn't take one rep during the week.
01:59:30 He would just rep everybody else.
01:59:32 - Ben.
01:59:33 I think Ben's the answer.
01:59:35 - I mean, Ben seems like just a coach, front office guy.
01:59:38 I mean, he's like the bridge.
01:59:40 - Yeah, there's no question.
01:59:42 - You know who's doing a hell of a job for us
01:59:44 is Luke Stocker.
01:59:46 - Yeah, I heard he's with you.
01:59:47 - He was on the Titan U.
01:59:48 - Yeah, he said he picked it up.
01:59:49 - I'm like, "Yo, what's it like, man?
01:59:50 "What's it like?"
01:59:51 He's like, "Different."
01:59:52 - Yeah, different.
01:59:53 - He's done a great job.
01:59:54 - Has he?
01:59:55 - Transitioning quickly from a player to coach
01:59:57 and he's into it and, you know.
01:59:59 - Is he full-time now?
02:00:00 Or is he still on like a--
02:00:01 - He's going to be with us throughout the season, so yeah.
02:00:04 - Is that something where he goes for like OTAs
02:00:07 or a few weeks and then you kind of just offer it?
02:00:09 - Mm-hmm.
02:00:10 He was going to do the OTAs, the off-season,
02:00:12 the whatever nine-week program and crushed it
02:00:15 and offered him a season-long opportunity.
02:00:20 - Would you hire Taylor?
02:00:21 - No.
02:00:22 - I wouldn't be a good head coach.
02:00:25 I would not do well.
02:00:26 - Next question.
02:00:27 - You can wear the fit.
02:00:28 - Yeah, I'd wear the hell out of the fit.
02:00:29 What about just kind of like a consult?
02:00:31 What if I just come in, talk about man reaches?
02:00:34 - No, why don't we just maybe Zoom?
02:00:37 - Come on.
02:00:38 - You just looking to walk around?
02:00:39 You just going to walk around the building?
02:00:41 - I do.
02:00:42 Just want to walk around, get my jaw set in.
02:00:44 - Zoom.
02:00:45 The Zoom week.
02:00:46 - Yeah.
02:00:47 - COVID.
02:00:48 - I don't think Tuesday night game against the Buffalo Bills.
02:00:51 We did not practice for what, eight days?
02:00:53 - For the Steelers.
02:00:54 - Forever.
02:00:55 - Yeah, so literally like three days of preparation for the Bills.
02:00:57 - Trans-ish.
02:00:58 - And then we beat the shit out of them.
02:00:59 - We did.
02:01:00 - Was there a piece of you that's like,
02:01:01 "Hey, we don't even need to practice anymore"?
02:01:03 - No.
02:01:04 - Not brave.
02:01:05 All of us.
02:01:06 - All of us were like, "We..."
02:01:07 - Why do we even need to practice?
02:01:08 - Yeah, we just do.
02:01:09 - Remember we stood up for like 40 minutes,
02:01:10 reintroduced ourselves and said, "Hey, I'm..."
02:01:12 And then we're like, "We gotta get out of here."
02:01:14 - We all thought, we all thought we're gonna get blown the fuck out.
02:01:18 - Destroyed.
02:01:19 - Yes, I...
02:01:20 We thought there was no chance we were gonna win.
02:01:23 And obviously you were doing a good job being like,
02:01:25 "Boys, it doesn't matter."
02:01:26 Any given Sunday type of speech, you did a good speech.
02:01:28 - Fire alarms going off at his house.
02:01:30 - Who gives a fuck, we'll play them anywhere,
02:01:31 we'll play them in the parking lot type talk.
02:01:33 And we go in the locker room like,
02:01:34 "We're probably gonna get blown the fuck out."
02:01:37 And we beat the shit out of them.
02:01:39 - Yeah, you...
02:01:40 - That was wild.
02:01:41 - You obviously just have like the fucking mentality like,
02:01:43 we all know the asterisk that comes with if you lose.
02:01:46 So it's like, there's nothing to lose, right?
02:01:48 It's like when you're playing and it's just a downpour
02:01:50 and on defense, you're kind of like just taking shots
02:01:52 because you realize you're just gonna be in there like,
02:01:54 "Yo, it's wet as fuck, we're gonna be slipping."
02:01:56 - And it was some turnovers early and next thing you know,
02:01:59 they're running out the clock and Willie sees
02:02:02 making tackles at the end of the game.
02:02:04 - Okay, I see what you mean.
02:02:06 (laughing)
02:02:08 - What? You were.
02:02:10 - No, that is what we were.
02:02:12 - What? What?
02:02:14 Was that a jab?
02:02:15 - Dude, fucking, we know your humor, brother.
02:02:17 I respect it. I respect your game.
02:02:19 Don't get it twisted.
02:02:20 But...
02:02:21 - That's a T.
02:02:22 - You better watch your fucking tongue with me, brother.
02:02:25 (laughing)
02:02:26 - We can step out, we can wrestle.
02:02:27 - We don't have to fucking step out anywhere.
02:02:28 We can do that shit right in here.
02:02:29 - You've been grabbing that knee a little too much.
02:02:31 You've been grabbing that knee a little too much.
02:02:32 I'm letting you know, Will will body bag you.
02:02:34 - There ain't a fucking chance.
02:02:35 I will beat Will's fucking head.
02:02:36 - Move the mic.
02:02:37 - Hey, what's happening right now?
02:02:39 - He's thinking about it right now.
02:02:40 - No, I'm not thinking about it.
02:02:41 - He knows he'd have to get a one-two in
02:02:42 before I got my wherewithal with me.
02:02:45 - I think you take Rabe's note. Wrestling?
02:02:47 - If you beat my, you come down, we'll fight.
02:02:49 And then if you fight, if we fight,
02:02:51 you can go do your podcast right in my office.
02:02:54 - For how many episodes?
02:02:55 - At the facility?
02:02:56 - Yeah.
02:02:57 - Where else is his office?
02:02:58 - Home game for me.
02:02:59 - What are the boundaries?
02:03:01 - What do you mean? Like there's rules?
02:03:02 - I didn't know if you wanted a headgear.
02:03:04 - No.
02:03:05 - Or gloves or something.
02:03:06 - You gotta wear mouthpiece.
02:03:07 You gotta protect this chick like this.
02:03:08 (laughing)
02:03:10 (laughing)
02:03:13 - Those things look sharp, dude.
02:03:15 - Let's hit the twist.
02:03:16 - But hey, no, when he said he got some tackles
02:03:19 at the end of the game, when Haz came up,
02:03:20 I was like, "Hey, you're gonna go in?"
02:03:21 I was like, "Haz, I don't fucking want to go in right now.
02:03:24 "I'm fucking, I'm stiff as a board, dude.
02:03:27 "It's over. Like we won.
02:03:28 "I don't wanna fucking go in there
02:03:29 "and have some fucking garbage time."
02:03:31 That's just a little side story
02:03:33 on the type of guy you had that year.
02:03:35 - We know.
02:03:36 - Locker room guy.
02:03:38 Your place wasn't on the field.
02:03:39 Your place was in that--
02:03:40 - No, sometimes--
02:03:41 - In there, dappin' dudes up,
02:03:42 having good conversations.
02:03:44 - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:03:46 - Yeah.
02:03:47 - What else?
02:03:48 - I think we're getting close to the end, man.
02:03:51 - Getting close, boys.
02:03:52 - I think we got about 30 minutes left.
02:03:54 - The fuck we do.
02:03:55 Twisted tea, let's go.
02:03:56 I'm getting hangry.
02:03:57 - All right, keep it twisted this summer with twisted tea.
02:03:59 It tastes like real iced tea
02:04:00 because it's made with real brewed tea,
02:04:02 meaning it's really delicious.
02:04:04 - Real brewed tea feels like it's kicks of--
02:04:06 What the fuck am I doing?
02:04:07 I'm reading this?
02:04:08 - 5% ABV, full of flavor and very refreshing.
02:04:11 - Why'd you tell me?
02:04:12 - Just to let you know it's really delicious.
02:04:13 - Oh.

02:04:53 - No free shout outs.
02:04:54 That's a paid shout out right there.
02:04:56 - No, there's no question.
02:04:57 But it tastes delicious.
02:04:58 Take that with you.
02:04:59 - All right, let's go.
02:05:00 - It tastes delicious.
02:05:01 Take that with you.
02:05:02 - I will.
02:05:03 - You should.
02:05:04 - What's twisted tea?
02:05:05 - Actually, we have cases, right?
02:05:06 - What's the question of the day, Willie?
02:05:08 - Are you still willing to cut your dick off for a Super Bowl?
02:05:11 - Nope.
02:05:12 Nope.
02:05:13 - You guys heard it here first.
02:05:14 Titans are not going to make the playoffs this year.
02:05:16 - Because I realized--
02:05:17 - Marriage is a lot better?
02:05:18 - No, it wasn't that marriage was great.
02:05:20 - You literally said been married 20 years.
02:05:22 - I know, and that just means you'll figure it out
02:05:25 once you guys have been married 20 years.
02:05:27 No.
02:05:29 - That puts you on the map, dude.
02:05:30 Like, that--
02:05:32 I would probably-- I'd cut that finger off.
02:05:35 - Show him the finger.
02:05:37 - I'd cut that one off to win.
02:05:38 - Can you lift that thing up?
02:05:40 All the way down to the knuckle?
02:05:42 - Yeah, just the part that doesn't bend.
02:05:44 Just the straight part.
02:05:50 I mean, if you can bend the top--
02:05:52 - I can bend it like that.
02:05:53 - Yeah, I can--
02:05:55 - Yeah.
02:05:56 - But you're not cutting your dick off anymore.
02:05:57 You're over that.
02:05:58 I've grown up.
02:05:59 - Would you get a tattoo?
02:06:01 Would you get a tattoo?
02:06:02 - Yes.
02:06:03 - Saying, "I love busting with the boys"
02:06:04 on your low back.
02:06:06 - Ooh, I like that.
02:06:07 - No.
02:06:08 - For a Super Bowl?
02:06:09 - For a Super Bowl raves.
02:06:10 - They have laser treatment now.
02:06:11 - That's my incentive to win a Super Bowl
02:06:13 is to get that tattoo.
02:06:14 - No, that's just something--
02:06:15 - Like, I would get a tattoo of, like,
02:06:16 the boys, like a picture of the team.
02:06:19 You know?
02:06:20 - You'd be in the picture?
02:06:21 - No.
02:06:22 - We get rings if you win.
02:06:23 - It's the answer to the team.
02:06:24 - We're part of the team.
02:06:25 - Yeah.
02:06:26 We've done a lot for you.
02:06:27 - We've done a lot for your program.
02:06:28 - We've done a lot for you guys, too.
02:06:29 - We're part of the boys, right?
02:06:30 - I know.
02:06:31 - Yeah.
02:06:32 - I would get a tattoo.
02:06:33 I'd get a tattoo.
02:06:34 - What would it say?
02:06:35 Can we design it?
02:06:37 - Sure.
02:06:38 - We can design the tattoo.
02:06:40 - Within reason.
02:06:41 I get three choices.
02:06:42 - Done.
02:06:43 - And it's gotta be, like, actually Titan.
02:06:45 - Yeah, absolutely.
02:06:47 Big mitts.
02:06:51 - Those are easy mitts, dude.
02:06:52 I'm handling that easy.
02:06:56 - Are you guys talking about fighting like fight and fighting?
02:06:58 - I think that's what he is.
02:06:59 You know the whole Ohio brain.
02:07:00 It kicks in.
02:07:01 It just goes into animal mode.
02:07:02 It's fight or flight.
02:07:03 - Ohio people are doing it.
02:07:04 - We know what he's picking.
02:07:05 - Yeah.
02:07:06 - You gotta let it calm down, but make no mistake.
02:07:08 If we go to the ground, you're gonna be in trouble.
02:07:10 - 'Cause you're a wrestler?
02:07:11 - Yeah.
02:07:12 Yeah.
02:07:13 And you are older.
02:07:14 - I'm not.
02:07:15 Yeah, no.
02:07:16 I got no interest in wrestling.
02:07:17 - Yeah.
02:07:18 - Did you wrestle in high--
02:07:19 What's up, bud?
02:07:20 - Would you be Dan Campbell in a fight?
02:07:22 - Oh.
02:07:23 Would you be Dan Campbell in a fight?
02:07:25 - I mean, sure.
02:07:27 I think I could beat anybody in a fucking fight,
02:07:29 except for like Jeff Simmons.
02:07:32 [laughter]
02:07:34 - You had to bring him up.
02:07:35 Had to bring him up.
02:07:37 - No.
02:07:38 I mean, we battled on the field.
02:07:40 I mean, Christ.
02:07:42 - Who got the better of who on the field?
02:07:44 - Hmm.
02:07:47 I don't--I don't remember.
02:07:50 Like--
02:07:51 - If you don't remember, it's probably him.
02:07:53 - No, I don't.
02:07:54 I would doubt that.
02:07:56 I mean--
02:07:58 - He's a tight end.
02:07:59 - Did he play all with the Lions?
02:08:01 Or was he with the Dolphins at all?
02:08:04 - Dallas-Detroit.
02:08:14 - Dallas.
02:08:16 I know I played against him once when he was in Detroit.
02:08:22 And probably that year against the Giants--
02:08:24 we used to scrimmage the Giants every year.
02:08:27 We'd fight in training camp every year back in the day.
02:08:29 - That's another thing, too.
02:08:30 You were mixing it up, huh?
02:08:32 - There were--yeah, I mean, yeah.
02:08:34 The Patriots and the Giants used to practice every preseason.
02:08:39 - You seem like the type that would want to, like--
02:08:41 you're wanting the mix-up to happen.
02:08:43 You were like that when we did with Washington and Houston.
02:08:45 - So the first time I was a rookie
02:08:48 and got drafted by the Steelers,
02:08:52 and it was, like, hotter than hell,
02:08:55 and it was humid down in the valley, Latrobe, Pennsylvania.
02:08:58 And mind you, we had so many veteran players on the Steelers.
02:09:01 Like, I'm just trying to figure this out, and I'm getting tired.
02:09:04 It was a tight end, and we would start wrestling.
02:09:06 I'd throw them down, like, whatever.
02:09:08 Dumb players were punching each other with a helmet on.
02:09:12 You know what I mean?
02:09:13 It's just, like, not really doing much.
02:09:15 But anyways.
02:09:16 So, like, you always come out thinking that you won, you know.
02:09:19 Like, "Yeah, I won the training camp."
02:09:21 But really, you're just lost because you're so exhausted.
02:09:23 You know, the coach is like, "No, stay in there.
02:09:25 "You're not coming out.
02:09:27 "Go in the next play," and you, like, can't even move.
02:09:30 So meanwhile, I'd been there for, like, four months
02:09:33 after I got drafted, and Greg Lloyd hasn't said a word to me
02:09:36 since the day I got drafted.
02:09:38 Hasn't literally--I avoided, like, eye contact with him
02:09:41 because it's just like, "Oh, shit, that's great."
02:09:43 So I'm sitting in my locker, laying my head down.
02:09:45 I'm exhausted, and I see this, like, shadow come over me.
02:09:48 He's like, "Yeah, next time, what you want to do
02:09:51 "is you want to take your hand, and you want to go up on a knee."
02:09:54 First time he talks to me is after I got in a fight.
02:09:57 Like, I had to prove myself to him
02:10:00 so that I was worthy enough to talk to him.
02:10:02 I'm like, "Greg, like, you haven't said--
02:10:04 "I've been scared to death of you for four months,
02:10:06 "and I finally get in a fight."
02:10:08 I said, "If I'd have known that,
02:10:09 "I'd have been fighting somebody in April."
02:10:11 - Yeah. - Just so that you'd talk to me.
02:10:13 - Helmet on point. - But that was, like--
02:10:15 That was his, like, you know, "Okay, this guy's, like,
02:10:19 "worthy of me talking to him."
02:10:22 And then we ended up being boys.
02:10:23 - Earned your stripes. - I guess.
02:10:26 - My favorite would be Dan Campbell in a fight.
02:10:28 That's what I heard.
02:10:30 - I mean, I'm taking--I'm taking Braves.
02:10:32 I'm taking Braves. - Yeah.
02:10:34 - If Dan Campbell said that to me, though, I'd be like,
02:10:35 "Yo, Danny, I'm taking you." - No question.
02:10:37 - But you did bring up Jeff Simmons.
02:10:38 Is that your favorite player of all time?
02:10:39 - No, it's not my favorite player of all times.
02:10:43 - He's out there.
02:10:45 - No.
02:10:46 - Where am I at on that one?
02:10:48 - Right outside of top three.
02:10:50 You and Taylor are tied.
02:10:52 - I'll take that.
02:10:53 I legit thought I wouldn't even be top ten,
02:10:55 so I'm stoked on that.
02:10:57 - So four? Four A, four B?
02:10:59 - No, I just said outside of somewhere.
02:11:01 - Oh, okay, so I'm back where I thought I'd be.
02:11:02 - So just outside of top three.
02:11:03 - Yeah, just like you said you were going on tour,
02:11:06 and you're going to two places.
02:11:07 - Well, we're doing a fall tour, too,
02:11:08 and there's five stops.
02:11:10 - Because we're on vacation, too.
02:11:12 - Vacay.
02:11:13 - Yeah, Italy.
02:11:14 - Really?
02:11:15 - Yeah.
02:11:16 - Nice.
02:11:17 - Have you been?
02:11:18 - Nope.
02:11:19 - Go to Destin, Florida, it's got an Italy vibe.
02:11:20 - That's that 38.
02:11:21 - That's that 38.
02:11:22 - That Nashville beach, baby.
02:11:24 The whole town goes down there.
02:11:27 Taylor, you got a place down there, 38,
02:11:29 where you staying at?
02:11:30 - No, I went there for the first time for the fourth.
02:11:32 - How was it?
02:11:34 - It was cool. It was hot.
02:11:35 A lot of rules that I don't like.
02:11:37 But it was beautiful,
02:11:39 and I really enjoyed it.
02:11:40 - Are you really going to Italy?
02:11:41 - Yeah.
02:11:42 - Nice. Baby going?
02:11:43 - Two weeks, yeah.
02:11:44 - Sweet.
02:11:45 - She's flying with us.
02:11:46 So it'll be fun.
02:11:47 It'll be us three out there.
02:11:48 - How long are you going for?
02:11:49 - Two weeks.
02:11:50 - You traveling around?
02:11:52 - Do what?
02:11:53 Yeah, we're going to four or five different parts,
02:11:56 and this is about as far as I get,
02:11:58 'cause I don't really know much.
02:11:59 - Our trainer's stuck there.
02:12:00 I guess they shut the airport down Friday.
02:12:02 - Oh, really?
02:12:03 - Big Mike.
02:12:05 - Mikey.
02:12:06 - Big Mike.
02:12:07 - They shut the airport down, I guess.
02:12:09 I don't know.
02:12:10 - That's wild.
02:12:11 You probably lied.
02:12:12 You should stay out there a little longer.
02:12:14 - Todd told me this morning.
02:12:15 - Yeah.
02:12:16 - Well, hey.
02:12:17 - I appreciate it, guys.
02:12:18 - Thanks for coming on.
02:12:19 - Oh, yeah.
02:12:20 - It was a pleasure. Thank you.
02:12:21 - Hey, you are the man.
02:12:22 - You guys aren't going anywhere in my life.
02:12:23 You guys are--
02:12:24 - Hey, you're the man.
02:12:25 - You guys are stuck with me.
02:12:26 - We love you.
02:12:27 - Don't--the painting of the negative,
02:12:28 like, you're the man.
02:12:30 - But I appreciate what you guys have done,
02:12:32 and I think probably the most important thing
02:12:35 is that you treat my kids well.
02:12:38 The boys, they love you,
02:12:41 and I appreciate that, 'cause I know it's, like--
02:12:44 People are always like, "Oh, yeah, is Tyler a player?"
02:12:46 I'm like, "I wouldn't want my son to play here.
02:12:48 I know when you guys go in the locker room."
02:12:50 Like, I don't want--like, that's not fair to Tyler,
02:12:53 and people don't understand that,
02:12:55 and it's like, dude, there's got to be a division.
02:12:58 Like, I get it.
02:12:59 You want to tell my kids?
02:13:01 I'm sure my kids think I'm an asshole sometimes, too.
02:13:03 You know what I mean?
02:13:04 But that was the whole reason.
02:13:05 I was like, "No, like, I don't want--"
02:13:07 - And being in the locker room, too,
02:13:08 like, you build camaraderie off--
02:13:09 - Right, and I don't want, like, that to be different.
02:13:12 So it was like--
02:13:13 But I do appreciate how you guys treat them.
02:13:15 - Yeah, Carter gave me a ride home one night after--
02:13:17 - After your comedy show.
02:13:19 - Yeah, yeah, the comedy show.
02:13:21 - One-eyed Willie.
02:13:23 - Yeah, yeah.
02:13:24 I was like, "Hey, Carter, I really appreciate
02:13:25 you getting me a ride home, man.
02:13:26 This is awesome."
02:13:28 I was like, "Let your dad know you took me home."
02:13:29 - That was a wild night.
02:13:30 - That was a fun night.
02:13:31 - That was a fun night.
02:13:32 - He said it was awesome.
02:13:33 - Yeah.
02:13:34 - As far as, like, the back and forth with Carter,
02:13:36 and then we can get off, but it jogs my memory of--
02:13:39 The Ravens game happened.
02:13:41 Then I get to play the next week in the Colts.
02:13:44 Trip, fall, have a couple bad plays that first series.
02:13:48 End up getting benched that game to the next day,
02:13:53 Carter is in my DMs buying our Black Friday thing
02:13:57 to where I send a video,
02:13:59 to where we do our video sending.
02:14:01 - Yeah.
02:14:02 - He's like, "Hey, I want you to say it this way."
02:14:03 My head's already in a blender because I'm just pissed
02:14:06 that that's how the situation went for me.
02:14:09 Trip, you do all these things,
02:14:10 and you're just playing all these plays on your head.
02:14:12 I'm thinking, "There's no way in hell I want to fucking
02:14:14 send Vrabel a Black Friday video."
02:14:18 Do you remember that?
02:14:19 I know you remember that.
02:14:20 - I remember you--
02:14:21 - I'm shocked I still had to pay for stuff.
02:14:23 - You don't have--
02:14:24 - They're a parting gift.
02:14:25 - Don't do that.
02:14:26 Don't do that.
02:14:27 - Disaster.
02:14:28 - You'll be like, "Hey, it's always--
02:14:29 - No, but back then.
02:14:31 - No, I know.
02:14:32 - That was just Carter being fucking Carter.
02:14:34 - Oh, fuck.
02:14:35 Spending my money.
02:14:36 - Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:14:37 Spending your money and be like,
02:14:38 "Hey, you have to make this video for your dad."
02:14:39 I'm just thinking, "Your dad just fucking--
02:14:42 - That's what it was.
02:14:43 - "Destroyed me for not understanding
02:14:46 "Ultra on the fucking goal line.
02:14:49 "It was just down my throat about it."
02:14:52 I was like, "He just berated me,
02:14:54 "and you want me to send him a video?"
02:14:55 I was like, "I'm sure he doesn't want to see me right now."
02:14:57 - You exaggerate.
02:14:58 What, did you give up a touchdown or something?
02:15:00 Coverage?
02:15:01 Were you the edge guy?
02:15:02 - No, the defense gave up a touchdown.
02:15:04 - Were you the force guy?
02:15:05 - I can't even remember.
02:15:06 I think so.
02:15:07 I think so.
02:15:08 It was something up the middle.
02:15:09 - Right.
02:15:10 - You were just mad that they scored.
02:15:11 - Oh, right.
02:15:12 'Cause if you're the force guy, all you gotta do is--
02:15:14 - All I'm talking about, like,
02:15:15 my back up over to Carter,
02:15:16 like, in my head as a player,
02:15:17 you're just thinking, "Yo."
02:15:18 - Is this kid setting me up?
02:15:20 - Yeah.
02:15:21 'Cause I'm like, "Yo, I tripped on a tight end.
02:15:23 "I fucking don't see something.
02:15:25 "I fuck up the Ultra for Braves,
02:15:27 "and you want me to send him a video
02:15:28 "being like, 'Hey, thank you for buying our gear
02:15:32 "'on Black Friday.'"
02:15:34 - That had to be tough.
02:15:35 - It was.
02:15:36 - I remember that, too, 'cause you called me,
02:15:37 and you're like, "Hey, I'm starting."
02:15:39 - I was fired up.
02:15:40 - Fired up.
02:15:41 - Straight at the table.
02:15:42 - And I legit watched that first series.
02:15:44 I was like, "Oh, no."
02:15:45 - I know.
02:15:46 - I mean, it had to be the same way
02:15:47 as for me in the Cardinals game.
02:15:49 - Yeah, I had a--
02:15:50 - It wasn't that bad.
02:15:52 - Dude, that shit was bad.
02:15:53 - His game wasn't that bad.
02:15:55 - Was that the worst game you've ever seen a player play?
02:15:57 - Live, yeah.
02:16:00 - Yeah.
02:16:01 - No.
02:16:02 - Dude, you legit called--
02:16:03 - Dude, that was shock and awe, that whole game.
02:16:05 - Dude, you literally called me in your office.
02:16:07 - I know.
02:16:08 - He called me, and he's like,
02:16:09 "Hey, come to my office."
02:16:10 I'm thinking, "I might actually get cut.
02:16:12 "I literally have no idea driving."
02:16:14 And you were really nice.
02:16:15 You were like, "Hey, I want you to know
02:16:16 "you didn't lose that game."
02:16:17 - Like, dude, it's a long season, brother.
02:16:19 We need to get back.
02:16:20 - That was probably the worst.
02:16:22 I think I was talking to,
02:16:23 I was talking to Taylin and Mike
02:16:25 on the way back from Kittle Fest,
02:16:26 and I was like, "That was the worst day of my life," I think.
02:16:28 - There's no question, dude, that that was like a--
02:16:31 It was like tough for the rest of the--
02:16:33 - Oh, I bet.
02:16:34 - The rest of the year.
02:16:35 - I remember, who was it?
02:16:37 Who was the OC?
02:16:38 Was it Todd?
02:16:39 Todd was the OC.
02:16:40 And he's like, "First play, running behind you."
02:16:42 There was a couple of plays in too.
02:16:44 I had a couple screens.
02:16:45 I had a couple plays that I was like a lead blocker.
02:16:47 And I remember calling you, going to get my IV.
02:16:50 I'm like, "Hey, this game plan, I got a lot in it."
02:16:52 And I'm still--
02:16:53 It was like the most confident I've ever gone
02:16:55 into a game in my entire life.
02:16:57 And then after the second series, I was like, "Oh, fuck."
02:17:00 - Oh, wow.
02:17:01 - Dude, there's nothing worse.
02:17:02 Sitting in the third quarter,
02:17:03 just getting your shit pushed in for.
