00:05 Passion...
00:06 Hello, so I'm here at Gusto Newcastle, which is on the Quayside.
00:10 A lovely Italian restaurant where I'm going to get some bottomless brunch, which I'm assured
00:14 by people much younger and hipper than me is a bit of a treat.
00:19 This will be extra special for me because at the age of...
00:23 I've never been to brunch, bottomless or otherwise.
00:26 So I'm going to actually see what that's all about as well.
00:28 The most important question, obviously, is what's on offer drinks wise.
00:31 So there's passion fruit spritz, Aperol spritz, Limoncello Sangria Tide and Prosecco.
00:38 So I've actually never had Sangria either.
00:42 So at the risk of sounding a bit like Charlie Bucket on his way into the chocolate factory,
00:46 this will be a new experience in more ways than one for me.
00:49 To start, we'll be having the Gusto's signature dough petals with parsley and garlic butter,
00:55 which is obviously going to help line the stomach before drinking.
00:58 For the mains, I'm going for smashed avocado toast because it's got my favorite thing,
01:03 poached egg involved.
01:04 To be honest, when I hear brunch, I imagine a lot of eggs and this fits the bill best
01:09 for me.
01:10 But there are a lot of options, mostly featuring tomato.
01:12 It is an Italian restaurant.
01:14 Among the other choices on offer, Gusto's classic burger, pan fried fillet of sea bass,
01:19 Jerusalem artichoke and truffle ravioli, rigatoni, arrabbiata and more.
01:23 So yes, I went for the smashed avocado toast, which was really very nice.
01:29 Very nice poached eggs and the spring greens are quite savory, which you might not expect.
01:33 My dining companion went for the Gusto's classic burger, which is a chuck burger with caramelized
01:37 onion, pecorino cheese, tomato, relish and gherkin.
01:41 Really juicy patty.
01:42 That was kind of medium rare, I would say.
01:44 Now, for the sake of this review, I quite bravely did try all four drinks that are on
01:49 the bottomless brunch menu.
01:50 So ranking them in order from least to best.
01:53 I'd say Prosecco comes in fourth.
01:57 Never been a big fan of Prosecco, but it was nice and as advertised, notes of pear, drops,
02:03 green apple and lemon.
02:04 Quite refreshing.
02:05 Aperol Spritz, which is a classic, but I think more of a heavy going drink.
02:11 The other two were a little bit lighter.
02:13 So next, I would say the Passion Fruit Spritz, which is a vodka, pineapple juice, passion
02:18 fruit puree and a vanilla syrup and more, which went down really easily.
02:24 As did my favourite, the Limoncello Sangria, which was, well, really lemony with a lot
02:31 of Sicilian lemon.
02:32 It was, yeah, yeah, went down dangerously easily, that one.
02:35 So yes, that was really excellent.
02:38 Thoroughly recommended and those younger than me probably won't have to take a na-na-nap
02:42 afterwards like I'm about to do.
02:44 Pepperoni salsita.
02:45 I'm not saying that one.
