Certains l'avaient prédit...Après la terrible attaque de Jonas Vingegaard (Team Jumbo-Visma) sur la 5e étape du Tour de France, son grand rival pour le classement général, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates), n'a pas tardé à riposter ! Vainqueur de l'étape du jour, il avait été relégué à la 6e place au général, à 1'40" de Jai Hindley (BORA-hansgrohe). A l'issue de cette 6e journée de course, il se classe 2e, 25" derrière le nouveau leader, Vingegaard. Pour autant, le Slovène n'a pas semblé rancunier envers son rival du Team Jumbo-Visma dans sa réaction d'après-course, plutôt soulagé de sa performance : "Je ne dirais pas que c'est une revanche, mais oui, c'est appréciable de gagner aujourd'hui et de reprendre un peu de temps", a-t-il expliqué.
