00:05 I'm Mindy from Cute Girls Hairstyles.
00:07 And today I'm going to show you how to do the ponytail bow.
00:11 So we've been seeing this picture getting sent to us
00:13 from a lot of our fans.
00:14 And we've already shown you on other videos
00:17 how to do the Lady Gaga bow and also bow tails.
00:20 But this is just a slightly different variation
00:22 that's really fun.
00:23 And I think it's going to be really popular.
00:25 So what we have done, we have just
00:28 started by pulling her hair into a really loose, soft side
00:31 ponytail.
00:33 Now, when you get it into the side ponytail
00:35 the way you want it, I'm just going
00:37 to pick up a piece of hair off the top,
00:42 maybe like a one-inch section.
00:44 So the large majority of her hair is still going to be down.
00:48 Now, I'm going to add some fiber gum.
00:52 Or you can use some pomade, whatever you want.
00:56 Just a little bit.
00:57 I'm just going to run it on the top
00:58 just to try to help control some of the flyaways
01:00 while we're making the bow part of her hair.
01:04 So when you get that kind of worked through-- OK.
01:10 Now, I'm going to take another small elastic.
01:13 And just note that this one is also a very small elastic that
01:16 matches her hair.
01:17 We want it to blend in.
01:18 And I'm going to take another one.
01:20 And I'm going to put it over her hair like so.
01:26 And wrap it around and form the bow part of her hair
01:31 right there.
01:32 Now, using the same elastic-- you
01:35 can see I still have it on my fingers--
01:37 I'm going to go over here and grab
01:38 the other end of her hair that's still loose
01:41 and do kind of the same thing.
01:44 I'm going to wrap it around her hair
01:47 and begin to form another little loop to the bow.
01:53 Now, the ends might get a little crazy.
01:55 That's OK.
01:56 You can work those out.
01:59 And you can see that we've kind of formed our bow.
02:01 I'm going to just make that loop a little looser.
02:03 So we've got the basic structure for our bow
02:10 in place at this point.
02:13 You can see it.
02:16 So if you think your loops are a little too small or anything
02:19 like that, this is the time you kind of
02:20 want to mess around with your loops and just perfect them.
02:25 So when you've got the basic bow in place,
02:29 then what you're going to do now is hide those elastics.
02:32 So there's a couple ways to do this.
02:33 I'm going to reach-- you can see these are the ends that we
02:36 had used before.
02:38 I'm going to grab under hair and grab
02:39 another small little section like so.
02:43 Now, you can do a couple things.
02:44 And I'll show you all of them.
02:46 And then you can decide which works for you.
02:48 You can take this and simply take it up and over like so.
02:54 And then bobby pin it down under here
02:57 so that it would stay in place like that.
03:01 Or this is option number two.
03:03 You can split this in half, take them both up over the middle
03:08 like so over each side of the loop,
03:11 and then take another small rubber band
03:13 and put it right there on her hair.
03:16 And then that would hold it like this.
03:19 But the downside to that one is you
03:20 may see the little rubber band.
03:22 So just be aware of that.
03:24 My personal favorite option, but you do need this tool,
03:28 is my fantabulous Topsy Tail.
03:31 We've talked about these before in other hairdos.
03:34 The Topsy Tail allows you to just kind of stick this
03:36 in right behind the bow itself like so.
03:41 And then I'm going to take the hair, put it through the Topsy
03:44 Tail, give the Topsy Tail a little tug through like so.
03:52 And it wraps the hair around there.
03:55 Then what I'm going to do is just take a bobby pin.
03:58 I'm going to try to lean forward just a little bit
04:00 so they can see it really clearly.
04:02 Take the bobby pin.
04:03 Do you see where the hair goes in to the ponytail part?
04:07 I'm just going to take the bobby pin,
04:09 stick it basically right on top of that same hair,
04:12 and take it down.
04:13 And that's just going to secure that hair in place.
04:16 So then-- OK, you can put your head back up now.
04:20 I'm just going to go back and tweak our bow so
04:24 that I love the way it looks.
04:27 Fluff it.
04:28 You can take a little hairspray and kind of comb those loops
04:34 if you want so they look soft and pretty.
04:36 And comb that down.
04:44 And then-- OK, so here's another trick.
04:46 This is another trick by me, lean forward.
04:48 Can you see this first elastic that we
04:50 did, the original elastic for the ponytail?
04:52 So I like that to be hidden.
04:54 I can just barely see it poking out right there.
04:57 So what I'm going to do is take the hair,
04:58 just give it a nice gentle tug.
05:01 This is just going to help loosen up your ponytail.
05:04 And it's also going to pull that elastic down even closer
05:06 to that hair so you can see it even less.
05:09 So there you go.
05:10 OK, put your head up.
05:12 The fun, fun ponytail bow.
