00:06 - I am going to make a doll stand
00:26 using recycled cardboard, toothpicks for mini dolls,
00:30 pencils or wooden dowels, ribbon, glitter,
00:34 Velcro or hook and eyes, a nail file,
00:37 beads, buttons and charms, craft paint and glue.
00:42 I start by drawing a circle onto a piece of cardboard.
00:45 To make a perfect circle, you can try tracing around a lid.
00:48 Cut them out, carefully poke a hole
00:51 near the top of the cardboard,
00:53 making sure it is large enough to fit a pencil,
00:56 wooden dowel or toothpick.
00:59 Place it on top of another cardboard cutout
01:01 and make a mark where the hole should be.
01:03 Remove the ends from a pencil,
01:06 sand it with a nail file to remove the shiny coating,
01:09 glue the two layers of cardboard together.
01:12 For a 10 to 12 inch doll, I'm using two layers of cardboard.
01:15 For a larger doll like an 18 inch, I would use three.
01:19 And for a mini doll, I'm going with two.
01:21 Then glue the pencil, wooden dowel or toothpick
01:24 into the hole, paint it.
01:27 While the paint is still wet, I sprinkle it with glitter.
01:31 Once it's dried, gently cover it
01:32 with a layer of clear school glue.
01:34 Glue a piece of ribbon around the bottom edge,
01:37 wrap a piece of ribbon around the top of the pole,
01:41 measure the ribbon around the doll,
01:43 making sure it overlaps the pole.
01:46 Cut it, then glue a small piece of Velcro over the pole
01:50 and to the other end of the ribbon.
01:52 Or instead of Velcro, I could sew or glue on hook and eyes.
01:57 I glue the eye onto the pole and the hook to the other end
02:02 so it can be fastened behind the doll.
02:04 And I prefer the hook and eye because it lays a little flatter
02:08 in the back.
02:09 Decorate the ribbon to look like belts
02:11 with beads and crystals or charms for buckles.
02:14 Try different materials on the base
02:16 like moss, cotton balls, or buttons.
02:20 And I like to decorate them like mini sets.
02:24 And you're done.
02:25 Happy crafting.

03:54 You know, since you're here, do you
04:19 mind if I get a picture of the two of you?
04:21 You don't see superheroes every day.
04:24 Well, lately I do.
04:26 I just got to find my cell phone.
04:28 I know it's in here somewhere.
04:31 Just give me a second.
04:32 I'll be right with you.
04:34 You know, I really must be going.
04:36 Yeah, I got to get to class.
04:38 I mean, go help others.
04:40 We want to give a shout out to--
04:43 Happy crafting.
04:44 What's up?
04:46 With this picture, I'm going to write an article
04:48 for the school newspaper, "Superheroes, Friend or Foe?"
04:53 And then I'm going to discover their secret identities.
04:57 Hey, guys, I think I left my phone in the car.
