00:28 Hey guys! It's Jackie, and for today's tutorial I came up with this tropical themed makeup
00:33 look. It's really colorful and fun for summer, and on the bold side, so I'd wear this to
00:37 a party or something, or just tone it down without the lashes. And then you'll also find
00:42 out how to do this up half, whoa, half up half down do that I came up with that I think
00:47 is kind of edgy and fun, so I hope you guys enjoy, and let's get started.
00:52 Just to move things along, I have already applied my foundation routine, so I used my
00:56 CoverGirl Clean, and then I've added some concealer underneath my eyes and on any blemishes.
01:03 Going in with my contour stick, I'm applying the cream contour under my cheekbone, blending
01:09 it out, and then under my jawline as well, and then down my nose bridge as well as under
01:15 the tip, and I'm blending out with the other side of my It Cosmetics brush.
01:25 Now to bronze up the skin, I'm using Benefit's Sunbeam, and I'm applying some on the back
01:30 of my hand, and then I'm taking a little bit on my brush and I'm spreading this on my cheekbones
01:35 and blending it in, and you can use this within your foundation if you want an all over glow,
01:39 but I'm just focusing it on the cheekbones.
01:43 I'm setting the face with a really finely milled powder to set it, and I love Candlelight
01:48 powder by Too Faced to give the skin even more of a luminous feel. I actually love this
01:53 powder for on camera, but in person it can be a little much, so use a light hand.
02:00 Of course we want to look bronzy for a summer tropical look, so go in with your favorite
02:07 powder bronzer and apply this along your forehead, again under the cheekbones and down your neck,
02:12 and a little bit to contour your nose if you want to, and that will just set the other
02:17 product and make sure you have an all over glow.
02:23 I've also added in some ashy contour under my cheekbones and a little tiny bit down my
02:28 nose just to give it more of a shadow appearance rather than just a bronzy color.
02:33 Really make sure to blend these products out, and we'll add blush at the end, but for now
02:38 let's prime the lids. I always use my Urban Decay Primer Potion, and we can't forget about
02:44 brows. I get comments my brows look too big, but I really like them big, especially for
02:49 this fun tropical look.
02:52 I'm using my Annabelle Skinny Brow Pencil, and this product is a little bit more warm
02:57 tone than my It Cosmetics Brow product, so it suits my new hair and adds some warmth
03:02 to my brows.
03:07 To fill them in, I just line underneath the brow, and then I start to add in small strokes
03:12 to fill and even out the natural shape, and I do always bring my eyebrows a little bit
03:16 closer together so I have a slimmer looking nose.
03:21 Now for the fun part, I love playing with colorful eyeshadows, so with a matte peach
03:34 I'm going to start by blending this right into the crease and up to the brow bone. I'm
03:39 also working this into the contour just a little bit because I love a deep set eye,
03:43 and this color will also make the other green and blues pop.
03:50 Now with Goldmine from MAC, or any yellowy gold shade, apply this to the inner half of
03:55 the lid.
03:59 Next we're going to add in a wearable green shadow. I love Golden Olive by MAC, it's a
04:03 pigment and as you guys know I love my pigments, so sweep this over the lid and above the Goldmine
04:10 eyeshadow a little bit, and I'm keeping the lines rounded.
04:15 Now for a pop of blue, I've added in Peace by Urban Decay. Urban Decay has some great
04:20 bright eyeshadows that I love, and this one's one of my favorite ones for summer to play
04:24 around with, so I've just applied a touch of it to the outer corner, I've placed the
04:28 fluffy brush in my crease, and then just swept inwards just a little bit.
04:35 Now go in with a liquid or gel liner and create a medium sized line with an upturned wing.
04:42 I usually map out my wing to the end of my drawn on brows and just take my time making
04:46 sure the line is smooth.
04:50 You can leave the look as it is, or go back in with the Peace eyeshadow and apply it just
04:54 above the line so you have kind of a double liner look, and it kind of brings the whole
04:59 look together, and if you're not that great at liquid liner and it's not that smooth,
05:04 this can also camouflage it and smoke it out a little bit.
05:12 This part's up to you, but I decided to go back in with my pigment and apply this underneath
05:16 the eye, and here I'm just playing with some colors, so I went in and added the goldmine
05:21 in the middle to kind of give it a pop, and then I also lined right underneath the shape
05:26 I've already applied with a darker green color, and this will just give the eyes a round appearance
05:32 and kind of gives it a smoky, deeper look.
05:43 For this look, I decided to highlight my brow bone, so I used Dazzle Light, which works
05:47 well with all the goldy shades.
06:03 For the liner, I wanted to finish it up with something unique, I just lined the inner and
06:07 outer waterline, and then I curled my lashes and applied mascara top and bottom.
06:19 You guys know I love my lashes, so I'm reusing a pair of my Liz lashes and I'm popping them
06:25 on with Duo Glue.
06:29 Build up the colors as you go, and if you're looking to get a really dark, smoky eye, then
06:34 you can add in some navy, and really sculpt out the crease so you have a lot of drama,
06:38 but I like it like this, where you have some fun colors, but it's still very soft.
06:47 For lips, I'm lining with a deeper nude, and then I'm adding this gorgeous peachy gloss
06:51 by NYX.
06:52 I've been loving peachy lips for summer, as you guys can probably tell, it's my go-to
06:57 look.
06:58 And then finally, I've added some melon pigment in the center of my lips, and I've also applied
07:03 a little bit of this on my cheekbones.
07:06 This gives a very shimmery highlight, so you can skip this step, but I absolutely love
07:10 it.
07:13 The final touch is blush.
07:14 I'm using Tarte's Fearless, and there's the finished look.
07:18 Because the eyes are bold, you might also want to try a very nude lip, so here's another
07:22 option.
07:23 Moving on to the hair, this look is so easy, and just a fun little summer look.
07:53 Just a fun look to try.
07:54 So first, I'm brushing out my hair with a wet brush.
07:57 I have second day hair, so before I start styling, I'm adding in a little bit of dry
08:02 shampoo to my roots.
08:07 I am going to add some heat to my hair to create some curl, so first I'm using Tresemme
08:13 Heat Protectant, and just spraying that through the lengths and the ends, and then brushing
08:16 it through again.
08:21 Now we're going to create a couple little buns going to the back of our head, and it'll
08:25 create this fun little half up, half down do.
08:28 So first I have just parted my hair from my part, which is off to the side, down to just
08:33 about behind my ears, and then I'm tying off the rest of my hair.
08:37 Then just give this hair a brush through, and I'm going to create some really messy,
08:41 natural looking curls with a bubble wand.
08:44 This one's by Bellamy, there's also one by NuMe you can get.
08:47 I just have the 6 in 1 at Bellamy kit, so this comes with it, and I've just curled away
08:52 from my face, and then I'm going to brush these out and start creating my first little
08:56 bun.
08:57 Next, finger comb this section back into a little tiny pony at the top of our head, and
09:04 before using any elastic or anything, all we're going to do is twist it a little bit
09:08 and readjust the front.
09:10 So I'm pulling on some pieces so that we have some texture and softness around the face,
09:14 and then I'm just going to start twisting that little ponytail.
09:17 We don't even need an elastic unless you really want to put one in, but I think they're a
09:21 pain to get out.
09:23 But just twist it into a little ballerina bun, then loosen it up with your fingers and
09:27 kind of give it a few little tugs here and there, and then just add in a bobby pin or
09:31 two, and you've got your first bun done.
09:36 You can leave the rest of your hair down like this.
09:38 I think it's actually really cute, because on me I don't like the half up, half down
09:42 do that a lot of people do just with the messy bun up top, so I like it kind of more dainty
09:47 and cute like this.
09:48 But I'm going to add a couple more so you get kind of a fun look.
09:52 So next I'm just taking two little pieces from the side, I'm going to curl them, brush
09:57 them out again, and I'm just doing the same thing.
10:00 So I'm finger combing them back, creating a little ballerina bun, and then tossling
10:04 it up and adding in a couple bobby pins.
10:17 I'm only really curling little bits around my face, and that kind of gives them more
10:21 volume so the bun looks bigger, because I don't want to take too much hair when I put
10:25 it into the bun, or else we're not going to have a lot of hair for the half up, half down
10:29 do, so I'm just using a little bit of hair and then making it look fuller.
10:37 So you guys know the drill by now, I'm just curling some front pieces and then tossling
10:42 them up back into little buns so I have a diagonal going from the top of my head to
10:47 about half way down.
10:49 And these buns, I really don't have that much hair in them, but make sure to tossle them
10:52 up so you get some fun texture and so it's soft around your face.
10:56 And you can do however many you wanted, I chose to do four, and the buns kind of got
11:00 smaller as I went down, so that I made sure that I still had lots of hair to work with
11:05 for the part that wasn't in the buns.
11:07 But you can totally make this a updo, you can just do a messy bun at the end and you
11:12 have a really interesting look.
11:14 Or continue to curl the hair with this bubble wand, and then toss it to one side for a fun
11:18 half up, half down do.
11:26 Once I got all my curls going, I added some thickening gel and this will just make sure
11:46 that my curls stay put and look nice and full.
11:49 And there's the finished look!
11:51 You can leave the hair on both sides, but I thought it looked really cute off to one
11:55 side, almost like a side pony there.
11:57 And I actually went back in and just clipped one of the hairs so it kind of pushed the
12:01 hair to one side so it would stay.
12:04 And there's the finished look!
12:05 I hope you guys like it, it's definitely a little different from what I usually do, but
12:09 I think it's fun for the summer!
