00:09 I'm Tina and today I'm gonna show you
00:12 how to create a center braided retro ponytail.
00:16 After making a side part,
00:17 take a small section of hair and split it in two
00:20 before taking the left section over the right.
00:24 Now we're gonna add in hair to the braid,
00:26 so take some hair on the right side
00:28 and incorporate it to the left section.
00:31 And then since we're doing a half French braid here,
00:34 just do a normal fishtail braid with the other side.
00:37 Take a small strand from the outside
00:39 and cross it over to the right section.
00:42 So again, take some hair from the scalp
00:50 and add it to the left section.
00:57 And then take a thin strand from that left section
01:00 and cross it over to the right section.
01:02 And I totally forgot to apply some hair wax
01:07 in the beginning, but anywho,
01:09 I'll talk you through this just once more.
01:11 Take some hair from the right
01:13 and add it to the left bundle.
01:15 But with that left bundle,
01:22 take a small strand from the outside
01:25 and cross it over to the right bundle.
01:27 And in case you don't know
01:33 the basic fishtail braiding pattern,
01:35 make sure that when you cross over or add in hair,
01:38 it must be added to the inside area of the section.
01:41 This is so that you don't end up
01:43 moving around the same strand.
01:45 I know my black hair is kinda hard to see here,

02:21 Okay, so I'm braiding in the center of my head here,
02:24 as you can see, and I'm doing it wrong.
02:27 You're supposed to fully braid
02:28 towards the left side as you're braiding,
02:30 so your scalp doesn't show,
02:32 but I was just too busy trying to make sure
02:34 my hands were in the way of the camera
02:36 and just messed it up.
02:37 But anyway, we can fix it at the end.

02:42 Now, gather all the hair into a low ponytail
02:57 and tie it with another elastic band,
03:00 making sure the braid is on top.

03:07 Pull out the braid to make it fuller
03:13 and then secure the braid in place with a few bobby pins.
03:16 On my mannequin tutorial, doing the same hairstyle,
03:19 I didn't need any pins because it was done correctly.
03:23 And finally, wrap a thin strand of hair
03:25 around the elastic and we're done.
