00:00 Can you smell that?
00:01 It smells good!
00:02 (upbeat music)
00:04 Welcome to BBQWed.com.
00:06 Today we're gonna do some bacon baked barbecue beans.
00:11 Mmm!
00:12 That look good or what?
00:14 Alright, this is real easy to do.
00:18 All you need yourself is a pound of good bacon,
00:21 like the thick bacon.
00:22 You got some brown sugar here,
00:24 you got some molasses.
00:27 You got some big cans of pre-cooked beans,
00:30 whatever brand you like.
00:32 And here I got some broth, I got some beef broth.
00:35 Here I got some homemade sauce.
00:38 And I got a little,
00:41 I got some homemade rub here.
00:45 It's just about all you need.
00:47 Alright, first thing we gotta do here is
00:50 let's get this bacon on the black iron pan here.
00:54 (upbeat music)
00:57 I like to use thick bacon.
00:59 Just maybe cut it up in two and
01:04 you wanna pan fry it.
01:07 Now you don't wanna overcook the bacon on this.
01:11 You make it
01:12 somewhat crispy.
01:15 You'll see here.
01:18 Alright, now I got myself a pan for the grill.
01:22 And first thing I wanna do is throw a cup of
01:26 homemade barbecue sauce in there.
01:28 Now you can use your homemade sauce
01:31 or one of ours or something off the shelf.
01:35 Alright.
01:36 Now,
01:38 you gotta put in about four large cans of beans.
01:43 Now, you can do your beans from scratch,
01:47 you know, soak 'em overnight, simmer 'em,
01:49 but save yourself some time.
01:51 Just get yourself a basic bean.
01:54 Makes it a lot easier, saves you a lot of time.
02:00 Alright.
02:01 You can adjust quantities here.
02:05 You could put five cans in or just three.
02:08 It's all up to you.
02:10 This gives you a good idea how it works.
02:12 Alright.
02:13 Stir that bacon up a little bit.
02:16 Like I said, we don't wanna burn it.
02:18 We wanna leave a lot of bacon taste in here
02:21 for the beans.
02:22 Man, that smells good.
02:27 Alright, now, we got some molasses here.
02:33 I like to use about a half a cup of molasses.
02:36 Gives it a real rich taste of beans.
02:41 And I got some beef broth here.
02:49 You can use chicken broth or you can pass on it
02:53 if you don't wanna put any broth in there,
02:55 but I'm looking to add a little more liquid to these beans.
02:59 Now, I'm gonna put a little brown sugar in there.
03:06 I'm using maybe a quarter cup of brown sugar.
03:10 These are gonna be some sweet beans.
03:18 Alright.
03:19 Stir it up real good.
03:22 Alright.
03:26 Nothing like the smell of bacon cooking on a grill
03:32 on open fire.
03:33 Alright, here's some of the magic here.
03:41 I've got some homemade rub.
03:45 And this is gonna add a little heat to the beans
03:49 and it's gonna give it a real barbecue flavor.
03:59 I'm using about maybe three or four tablespoons in here.
04:02 You're not using much.
04:04 You're not gonna taste the heat in this at all.
04:09 It's just adding a nice barbecue flavor.
04:13 Check out the barbecue web for good dry rub.
04:16 Now look at that, getting nice and rich looking.
04:20 Just about ready for the grill.
04:26 Let me clear off this table here.
04:28 Let's move this right along.
04:29 Okay, that bacon is done.
04:31 And what we'll do is we'll just pull off big chunks
04:37 of this bacon into the beans.
04:40 (sizzling)
04:42 Hey boys, I think we need some more tunes.
04:47 How about some bacon and beans picking music?
04:50 Alright.
04:51 We got the black iron pan off the grill.
04:54 We got this bean pan in there.
04:57 And man, take a look at that.
04:59 The only thing we have to do now is cook
05:04 maybe an hour, it can go longer.
05:09 And we add some chunks of hickory.
05:12 You could put some mesquite on there
05:15 or some maple or whatever.
05:17 And this adds a real nice smoky flavor to them beans.
05:21 Alright.
05:24 Alright, just a little time has gone by.
05:32 And take a look at this.
05:38 You can see that the sauce is getting nice and thick
05:41 with these beans.
05:43 Man, do you smell that?
05:46 It smells good.
05:48 Man, it's worth taking some time
05:54 to make yourself some homemade beans.
05:57 Alright, we're just gonna go a little bit longer here.
06:01 Alright, about an hour has gone by.
06:05 Real slow simmer.
06:07 And I'm getting hungry.
06:09 So,
06:13 let's put up a bowl full here.
06:19 Big chunks of bacon in there.
06:29 Smell the barbecue.
06:35 Some corn chips on the side.
06:38 Barbecue beans don't get any better than this.
06:46 Now that's one hearty bowl of beans right there.
06:56 What I like to do before I serve it up
07:01 is put on some shredded cheese.
07:04 I got some jack cheese here.
07:06 You can use whatever cheese you want.
07:08 Let it melt in there.
07:10 Look at that bacon.
07:16 That smells good.
07:17 Alright.
07:20 In fact, I'm gonna try a little bit of this right now
07:22 in front of you.
07:23 I just apologize.
07:25 Man, this is good.
