00:00 On the eve of the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, a solemn march to
00:05 pay tribute to the Holocaust's victims. Thousands took part, walking through the former Nazi
00:10 death camp at Auschwitz. 42 people who survived the Holocaust took part in the commemoration.
00:16 Each passing year is a reminder that the day will soon come when there will be no more
00:20 survivors left to tell their story.
00:23 I know it is inevitable and a time will come when there will be no survivors and that's
00:30 why all the more I'm making the effort to be here while I can.
00:35 More than one million people, mainly Jews, were murdered in the gas chambers at Auschwitz.
00:41 On Wednesday, many of the attendees will travel to Warsaw to mark 80 years since thousands
00:45 of Jews resisted Nazi efforts to transport them to death camps.
00:50 This year, on Holocaust Remembrance Day, we salute Jewish heroism in the Holocaust and
00:57 the miracle of the human spirit as we commemorate 80 years since the courageous Warsaw Ghetto
01:04 Uprising.
01:06 The uprising began on April 19th. An estimated 13,000 Jewish people were killed when Nazi
01:12 commanders ordered the ghetto burnt down. It was the largest single revolt by Jews in
01:17 World War Two.
