A woman has died following a fire at block of flats in Renfrewshire.

Firefighters said the blaze was already well-developed by the time they arrived at the building on Belmont Street.

Area Commander for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said a 38-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and their thoughts are very much with those affected.

Next, a project directing the restoration of a 90-year-old Clyde streamer has received a £1 million donation from an anonymous source.

A campaign was set up to fundraise the £10 million required to carry out an upgrade on the TS Queen Mary in the hopes it can carry passengers again.

And in other news, the Glaswegian comedian Frankie Boyle is set to lead Channel 4’s coverage of King Charles III coronation next month.

The special programme Farewell to the Monarchy is said to provide a different perspective on the history of the royal family.

It has also been announced that Glasgow Cathedral, along with dozens of other venues across the UK, has been selected to screen the ceremony live.
