Glasgow headlines 25 January: Police shoot dog following violent attack

Police shot a dog in Hamilton after it attacked two men leaving one in hospital in critical condition.

Officers were called to the Tinto View area following reports of a “large bulldog type” attacking people.

Emergency services were at the scene and took the man to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is now being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Next, musicians who played at the new Virgin Hotel on Clyde Street before its imminent closure in December claim they are owed thousands of pounds.

Curious Pig Entertainment who booked many of the acts say they owe around £15,000 to performers.

A spokesperson said all Virgin Hotels are independently owed.

And finally, the Glasgow Film Festival has announced its 2024 programme, which includes a screening of Billy Connolly’s 1977 film Big Banana Feet and the premiere of Janey Godley’s documentary.

The festival will kick off at Glasgow Film Theatre on 28 February.
