00:00 Porto Empedocle, the literary port of Andrea Camilleri, has its new maritime station.
00:11 The work, designed by the Portual System Authority of the Sea of Western Sicily,
00:16 redesigns the waterfront of the Agrigentine center in a modern way,
00:21 thanks to the realization of a modern terminal that connects the Mediterranean
00:26 with the monumental landscape peculiarities of the territory.
00:30 Externally, the maritime station presents itself as a long monolith with well-defined features,
00:36 a simple structure, not invasive, but that embodies the principles of sustainable architecture.
00:42 Internally, passengers in transit will have a welcoming environment and a suggestive terrace
00:49 that faces the African sea, photovoltaic panels for the production of electricity,
00:56 the presence of charging stations for cars in the parking lots and the use of eco-sustainable materials
01:02 complete the work, marking the new green course of public building design.
01:07 In Western Sicily, Porto Empedocle is the fifth open maritime station in the last five years.
01:14 We are very happy, we are happy to witness an important work
01:19 and that things can be done, they can be done in Sicily, they can be done throughout the country.
01:23 We have increasing numbers in passengers, in the cruise ships, in the national cabotage,
01:28 we have increasing numbers in commercial traffic.
01:30 This is the real testimony of the return, let's say, and the goodness of our investments.
01:38 We are inaugurating a wonderful infrastructure that is embedded within a city,
01:44 which has its own history, which is next to Agrigento, which is next to the Valley of the Temples,
01:47 the Turquoise Gorge and which can, together with these wonderful places,
01:53 testify to how beautiful Sicily is in every corner.
01:58 The new image of the port of Agrigento is also projected in the light of a future tourist development
02:03 and sustainable mobility, an evolutionary process that sees the port authority
02:10 and the Sicilian region collaborating together.
02:12 It is finally present, Green.
02:14 In 2023 we accepted the challenges that the era of ecological transition imposes on us
02:22 and with the port authority, the collaboration on the various infrastructures
02:29 that are managed in Sicily is strengthened.
