Glasgow headlines 14 April: Botanical Gardens shut off as police investigate body found in nearby river

  • last year
Police have taped off the Botanical Gardens after a body was discovered in the nearby River Kelvin.

The circumstances around the death are currently unknown, while a spokesperson for the force said officers are still in attendance and enquiries are ongoing.

Next, Glasgow taxi drivers have submitted over 250 bids for exemptions from the council’s low emission zone, insisting no operators should need to stop in June when phase two comes into force.

Anyone driving a vehicle that does not meet criteria from then will face fines, while the council said they are currently compiling a white list for exemptions.

And in other news, a recent report shows that school children in Glasgow whose first language is not English are receiving better results than the general population.

It also found that this group has better attendance levels and fewer exclusions.
