Glasgow headlines 12 October: One person being treated after falling in River Kelvin

Emergency services have rescued one person from the River Kelvin while a second remains missing following an incident.

A number of appliances were spotted on Gibson Street and Eldon Street in the West End on the evening of 11 October following reports of two people in the water.

Police Scotland confirmed the first person was now receiving treatment while they were still searching for the second.

Next, a new bridge connecting Govan and Partick will be floating up the River Clyde on Friday 13 October, set to arrive in the city after being built in the Netherlands.

The infrastructure is expected to be open by Spring next year, re-establishing a historic link between the two areas.

And in other news, Glasgow City Council has pledged to make £1 million in improvements on neighbourhoods based on ideas from the community.

The authority asked residents of Pollok and Calton to vote for what they want - key themes include improving open spaces, street lightning, pavements, drainage systems and more.
