धार्मिक मान्यता के अनुसार फाल्गुन शुक्ल अष्टमी से फाल्गुन पूर्णिमा तक के समय को होलाष्टक कहा गया है। इस वर्ष 27 फरवरी, सोमवार से होलाष्टक शुरू हो रहे हैं। होलिका पूजन करने के लिए होली से आठ दिन पूर्व होलिका दहन वाले स्थान को गंगाजल से शुद्ध कर उसमें सूखी लकड़ी,उपले व होली का डंडा स्थापित कर दिया जाता है। इसी दिन को होलाष्टक प्रारम्भ का दिन माना जाता है। होलाष्टक के दौरान विवाह,गृहप्रवेश, मुंडन, नामकरण एवं विद्यारंभ आदि सभी मांगलिक कार्य या कोई नवीन कार्य प्रारम्भ करना शास्त्रों के अनुसार वर्जित माना गया है। होलाष्टक के आठ दिन क्यों नहीं किए जाते शुभ कार्य,आइए जानते हैं।

According to religious belief, the time period from Falgun Shukla Ashtami to Falgun Purnima is called Holashtak. This year Holashtak is starting from 27th February, Monday. To worship Holika, eight days before Holi, the place where Holika is burnt is purified with Ganges water and dry wood, dung cake and Holi stick are installed in it. This day is considered as the beginning of Holashtak. According to the scriptures, all auspicious works like marriage, housewarming, shaving, naming and starting of education etc. or starting any new work during Holashtak is prohibited. Let us know why auspicious work is not done during the eight days of Holashtak.
