मुहर्रम गम और मातम का महीना है, जिसे इस्लाम धर्म को मानने वाले लोग मनाते हैं। इस्लामिक कैलेंडर के मुताबिक, मुहर्रम इस्लाम धर्म का पहला महीना होता है। यानी मुहर्रम इस्लाम के नए साल या हिजरी सन् का शुरुआती महीना है। मुहर्रम बकरीद के पर्व के 20 दिनों के बाद मनाया जाता है। इस बार मुहर्रम का महीना 31 जुलाई से शुरू हुआ है। ऐसे में 8 या 9 अगस्त को आशूरा या मुहर्रम मनाया जाएगा। इस्लाम धर्म के लोगों के लिए यह महीना बहुत अहम होता है, क्योंकि इसी महीने में हजरत इमाम हुसैन की शहादत हुई थी। हजरत इमाम हुसैन इस्लाम धर्म के संस्थापक हजरत मुहम्मद साहब के छोटे नवासे थे। उनकी शहादत की याद में मुहर्रम के महीने के दसवें दिन को लोग मातम के तौर पर मनाते हैं, जिसे आशूरा भी कहा जाता है। चलिए जानते हैं मुस्लिम धर्म के दूसरे सबसे पवित्र माह मुहर्रम क्यों मनाया जाता है ।
