Dell To Layoff 6,650 Workers

  • last year
Dell ($DELL@US) announced plans on Monday to cut 5 percent of its workforce or about 6,650 employees. CEO Jeff Clarke stated in a memo to employees that the tech giant had implemented other cost-cutting measures such as limiting travel, pausing external hiring, and reducing outside services spending. The measures were not sufficient to help the company recover from a drop in PC shipments following the pandemic boom. Global shipments fell 28.1 percent year-over-year in the fourth quarter. Dell had 133,000 total employees in 2022.
