The deception of demo accounts: the difference between virtual success and real success

  • anno scorso
Many believe that maintaining order in a demo account, without any losses in reports, means making money in a real account. However, this is not the case as there is no connection between how one works in a demo account and how they approach a real account. Despite the belief that good performance in a demo account leads to good performance in a real account, this is the wrong mindset to have. The forex market is a stochastic process and, as such, has infinite forms, due to its fractal nature. The fact that one was able to perform well in a limited time does not necessarily mean that in the long run, the chances are proportional. This can also be seen in most automated trading systems. They work as long as the market scenario fits the instructions in which they were trained. However, as they have a static, not dynamic structure, they inevitably fail if they do not adapt to changes. Hence, what may seem positive at one point in time when approaching the market does not mean that the operator will be able to achieve the same results with a change in scenario. The market changes and, to the surprise of those who have always believed they could handle their money with demo accounts, inevitably fails.
