The fourth and final musical season of the Netflix-original series “Dear White People” is here! Yes, “Dear White People Vol. 4” is an Afro-futuristic and 90s-inspired musical event! Set against the backdrop of senior year at Winchester and a not-so-distant, post-pandemic future, the season will follow the students as they reflect on their last year at university and sing a few songs along the way. Gayety spoke with writer and director Justin Simien and fellow showrunner Jaclyn Moore to discuss all things queer representation and what to expect from the musical finale. “I kinda can’t believe we did it,” said Simien. “We’ve been going so hard, and the pace has been so relentless. It is wild to stop and take a look back and say, ‘wow, we did those things.’ We’ve been having crazy ideas for this show since season one. And for better or worse, honey, we did them.” “Dear White People Vol. 4” is available on Netflix.
