00:10 We've been waiting for a while now.
00:12 Just going into this season, I feel like we're really tackling friendship,
00:17 which I love to see.
00:18 There's so many different arcs that that's going into.
00:21 But, I mean, speaking with both of you, Golda, I'll go to you first.
00:24 I mean, how is the friendship between the Queen and Lady Danbury
00:28 kind of evolving now that we've seen Queen Charlotte as well?
00:32 Oh, I think it's really wonderful to have that richness of knowledge
00:38 that we can take from Queen Charlotte.
00:41 And, you know, how we got together, all of that stuff,
00:45 the layers that have been created through that series,
00:47 has been really impactful on us as artists and us as characters.
00:54 You know, and I think going into Bridgerton 3 now,
00:57 we have all of that...
00:59 -That history. -That history and baggage and knowledge
01:05 that we can create wonderful things in the scenes that we're in.
01:09 And also to bring the fans along with us as well is a real thrill.
01:14 And, you know, we were so, you know,
01:18 brilliantly sustained by Asuma and India, playing the young us,
01:23 who are just fabulous actresses as well.
01:25 So it felt like you got the whole sense of these two young women
01:30 having to forge a life in a new place
01:33 and make space for themselves by themselves and by their own efforts
01:39 and to carry all the things that concerned them,
01:41 you know, whether it was George and supporting him
01:45 or Danbury trying to get her son's life secure and, you know, all that stuff.
01:50 And so it's kind of lovely to see them these many years later,
01:55 being fabulous, having overcome lots of things
01:59 and the richness that that gives them.
02:02 As Golda says, I think the audience has seen all that,
02:06 so they can take all of that information as they watch season three
02:10 and just see what's fueling how we are now.
02:13 Some people are even saying they want to go back to season one.
02:16 Now they've watched Queen Charlotte, do you know what I mean?
02:19 Kind of see that journey and understand the whys, the hows, the whos, the wheres
02:24 of these two characters.
02:25 And these long friendships that women have in their lives that sustain them,
02:30 you know, it's really nice to be able to reflect that in this...
02:32 -to reflect in story what we know to be the truth in life. -Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:37 Absolutely. I mean, and it just shows how strong the characters are,
02:41 and we love just being able to really dive into that.
02:45 And, Ashwa, I wanted to ask with your character,
02:47 I mean, you kind of hinted at it, just, you know, knowing this background,
02:50 but, like, playing her for four seasons now,
02:54 do you think that anything has really surprised you or changed from season one?
02:58 I think what was really lovely, because Shonda wrote the whole of Queen Charlotte,
03:04 -was to just get her take on who these women are. -Yeah, exactly. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:07 And, you know, I love the fact that she has this young woman
03:11 who comes over from Africa and is, you know,
03:15 is the object that is passed from father to husband,
03:19 and then has to sort of battle her way out of a situation of marital rape,
03:25 domestic abuse, no power, widowhood, no power.
03:29 Can she secure her children's future?
03:31 So you've got all that sort of fragility where someone just goes,
03:36 "As a woman, all I have is my brain and my intellect and my determination,
03:40 and I'm going to have to harness all of that
03:43 to make a future for myself and those I love."
03:46 And so the actual particularities of that story are new information,
03:52 but the character that they create,
03:55 I feel very happy that it sort of resonates with the Lady Danbury
04:01 -I was with up to that point. -Yes, with that point, yeah, exactly.
04:06 But, you know, we've got the queen of storytelling writing for us.
04:09 It doesn't get better than that, really.
04:13 And I love, I mean, I love the fashion of this,
04:16 and I wanted to ask you, Golda,
04:17 do you think that they can make the queen's hair look like a zebra?
04:21 Because I just feel we're really like, we're really going...
04:24 -We keep pushing the boundaries. -Like a zebra.
04:27 Oh, yes. Well, I'll ask.
