Yulo claims bronze in parallel bars

Filipino Olympian Carlos Yulo claimed the bronze medal in the parallel bars final of the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool, England early Monday (Manila time).

Yulo, 22, maneuvered smoothly and gracefully in the event, getting 6.300 points in difficulty and 9.066 in execution for a total score of 15.366.

Chinese Zou Jingyan, however, stole the show with an exquisite performance to amass 16.166 points – 6.900 difficulty and 9.266 execution – and snare the gold medal. German Lukas Dauser notched 15.500 points – 6.600 difficulty and 8.900 execution – to clinch the silver.

With his bronze, the 4-foot-11 Yulo ended his World Championships stint with two medals, with the other one being a silver as he failed to defend his vault title on Sunday night.

Yulo also competed in the all-around and floor exercise finals, placing eighth and seventh, respectively.
