"GENDANG BELEQ" One of Lombok's Indonesian Traditional Arts

Gendang beleq is one of the traditional music that has been inherited by the previous people of the Sasak people who inhabit the island of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The people of Lombok are certainly no stranger to the drum beleq music group. This group of drummers usually consists of a dozen personnel. They often appear as entertainers during celebrations. The beleq drum is usually used as an accompaniment to the nyongkolan tradition at wedding receptions. Not only that, the drum beleq is also used for other celebrations, such as during circumcision or other traditional activities. However, before the gendang beleq functioned as a bridesmaid during nyongkolan, the gendang beleq was originally used as an encouragement when going to escort or welcome war troops.
