"Nitish Kumar has been the Chief Minister of Bihar for the past seventeen years barring the nine months when Jiten Ram Manjhi was the CM as a stop-gap arrangement.

30.6% of the state's population lives below the poverty line against India's average of 22.15%6
.
Per capita power consumption in Bihar stands at 332 kWh, about one-fourth of the national average of 1208 kWh. An average Bihari uses just 61 liters of water every day as against 142 liters that of an average Indian.

Bihar also remains in the last two positions of the list of Sustainable Developments Goals tracked by NITI Aayog. Over the years, Bihar has only managed to go to bottom.
