A mum spotted a mysterious flying object soaring above her house - which she claims was a meteor. Ella Clifford, 38, caught the bright orange and red trail on camera while standing outside her home in Walsall, West Mids. She says she was unsure what it was but, after looking online, was informed it may have been a meteor. Ella said: "I couldn’t believe my eyes, I thought am I dreaming this. My daughter was getting scared. "The colour trailing behind it was orange and red. I thought it was debris or a plane or something. "It was at the side of my house, only a few yards from where I live. "My daughter said, 'Mum said what's that?' and I thought it was far too large to be a plane. It happened so fast. "I quickly recorded it, we tried to run around the house to see where it was going but there’s a lot of tree’s and it’s a built up area. "I was trying to keep an eye on my daughter. I have no astronomical experience whatsoever, I’m skeptical what’s up there. "It was the big trail and the colours on there and I thought had something exploded. A lot of things go through your head when you're watching it." Having no astronomical experience, Ella decided to Google the matter and stumbled on to the UK Meteor Network web page. She submitted a sighting which, she says, was later confirmed by an unknown man in Bristol. Ella added: "I was just having a browse and a read and saw the meteor site and thought I’d pop in my details. Someone in Bristol saw it a few minutes. "It was travelling so fast." According to its website, the UK Meteor Network comprises a community of "Citizen Scientists" and more than 150 detection cameras across the UK.
