If you're leery of being tracked online, there are steps you can take to keep your information private.
The following recommendations come from 'Wirecutter' and 'The New York Times.'
1. Get a password manager. These allow you to use different passwords for every site, without having to keep track of what they are.
2. Get a virtual private network service (VPN). A VPN will keep most internet browsing private from providers, reduce online tracking and secure public Wi-Fi connections.
3. Get a webcam cover. These can prevent hackers from spying on you while your computer is on.
4. Get a two-factor authentication app. When enabled, these apps add an extra authentication step to logging into online accounts, such as Gmail. Some apps also offer secure information back-up.
