Local sports talent will go global, says Modi in Meerut

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh on January 2. Speaking at the event, PM Modi said, “The global market for sports services and goods is worth millions of crores. Sports goods are exported to more than 100 countries from Meerut itself. Various sports clusters are to be inaugurated today. India needs to become self-reliant in sports equipment manufacturing. In the NEP being implemented, priority's being given to sports. It's now in the same category as science, math, or other studies. It'll be a dedicated subject.”
