Volkswagen ID Buzz 2024: The Reimagined Hippie Bus Makes Its Final Appearance | NafiraMadiun
The microbus appears to be returning greener than ever before, guy.
The Volkswagen Microbus was one of the most iconic vehicles of the 1960s and 1970s' peace movement, and it's making a comeback in the 2020s.
Oh, and it'll be electric, and it just debuted in full production form (briefly) years after the much praised concept version was initially revealed.
During the livestreamed unveiling of the Volkswagen ID5, a new coupe-like variant of the ID4 EV SUV, we got our first look at the final ID Buzz.
While little further about the 2024 Volkswagen ID Buzz was unveiled at the online event for an unrelated car, we did see that the bus was covered in a rainbow, zebra, tribal-like pattern and that it appeared to have a ready-to-roll chassis.
What's the Big Deal About ID?
The ID Buzz is one of numerous electric vehicles based on Volkswagen's MEB chassis, which is also shared by EVs from Seat, Skoda, and Audi.
It's a totally electric, modular platform with two versions: one for passenger cars and one for utility vehicles. The ID Buzz was supposed to be released in 2022, but that date was pushed back.
The ID Buzz will be built in Hanover, Germany, alongside a compact commercial vehicle designed specifically for Europe.
Due to the 2020 pandemic and the growth in door-to-door shipping and deliveries, that commercial vehicle was prioritized. It now appears that the United States will get it in 2023 as a 2024 model, while Europe will get it sooner.
Hopefully, we'll see more of the ID Buzz soon—possibly without the bizarre multi-color body wrap—but get ready, because the bus is coming again!
