MERI TASAWWUR KI NIGAHON SE
Written & Recited by : Gulnaar Fatima

The month of supreme sacrifice is here,
I envision the grandson of Prophet- My master Hussain
His face splashed with the blood of his loved ones,
Of divine light emanating out of his celestial being…
In moments of my own loneliness,
I sometimes wonder what it must have been,
For the King of martyrs to hear a sniveling silence
In response to his call of aid,
While his sons, brothers, nephews and comrades’
Lifeless bodies lay helpless
Because of the burden of their deep slumber..
Pained at the unfulfillment of my own hopes,
I imagined myself writing his name
On the sands of Karbala and engraving it
With tears of regret and anguish
Then collected and smeared
My mournful face with the same dust…
The Euphrates of my sorrow gushes unrelentingly,
As I remember my steps taken in His disobedience,
I see children in tents with their bruised, blistered feet
Hiding behind their mothers to escape the fire of Namrood
The helplessness of whose aches my heart beyond measure..
In these times of an unceasing pandemic,
Uncertainty looms over at our existence,
Robbing us of our peace and ambition,
But fails miserably to cause tremors
In our fortress of spiritual quest
We are waiting for the Messiah of Peace
His Last Proof Imam Mahdi –The Savior
To emerge from the clouds of Divine Will
Hold our hands to transcend the ocean
Of mortality to an abode of perpetual salvation..
