Spanish La Liga president Javier Tebas said the German Bundesliga has served as an "example to follow", after it became the first major European football league to return since the coronavirus pandemic decimated the sport calendar in March.

Eight Bundesliga fixtures took place behind closed doors across the Germany over the weekend of 16th and 17th May, with Werder Bremen due to take on Bayer Leverkusen on Monday.

Tebas also emphasised the need for all training routines across football clubs within Spain to take place "on an equal footing".
