Newly crowned Formula 3 world champion Oscar Piastri spoke to SNTV recently about the 'emotionally taxing' race at Mugello which saw him clinch the title, and what he hopes will be a rapid rise to the pinnacle of motorsport.

Under the management of former F1 driver Mark Webber, the 19-year-old Australian is being carefully guided towards his goal of a seat in F1. Piastri caught the eye in 2019, securing his place on the F3 grid by claiming the Formula Renault Eurocup title.

He then won the F3 championship at the first attempt, finishing just three points clear of Theo Pourchaire in the final drivers' championship standings after taking seventh place in the final race of the season at Mugello.

Piastri hopes to make the move up to F2 in 2021, and having already struck up a rapport with Daniel Ricciardo during his fellow Australian's time at Renault, he's looking forward to learning more from one of the sport's very best, with Fernando Alonso soon to re-join the team.
