Sport in isolation - Ice Golf World Cup on frozen Lake Baikal

As much of the world self isolates to protect themselves from the coronavirus threat, SNTV looks back into it's archives to revisit the weird and wonderful solo sports that require minimal human contact.

The inaugural Ice Golf World Cup took place on the frozen Lake Baikal in Siberia on March 8th. Competitions were organised by Irkutsk Golf Federation holding ice golf tournaments on Baikal since 2014.

The game was played with nine holes over a two-kilometre (1.24-mile) long course on ice which is 65 centimetres thick this year. Standard golf rules were applied with slight variations such as the colour of the balls and depth of the holes.
