David Beckham's new MLS team has introduced its first coach, with Inter Miami presenting Diego Alonso to the media on Wednesday (22 January).
Inter Miami - with Beckham a leading part of the ownership and front office - began their first practices this week, with preseason matches in February ahead of their MLS debut on 1 March at Los Angeles FC.
The 44-year-old Uruguayan Alonso spent part of the last two years with Monterrey before being fired in September despite a 31-12-12 record in 55 matches with that club; the team made the move amid a slump that threatened the team's playoff chances in the top Mexican league. Before that, he was with the Mexican club Pachura - also taking it to a CONCACAF Champions League crown.
