Facebook Bug Causes Users' Cameras
to Activate as They Scroll .
Facebook has recently come
under fire after the discovery
of a bug in their iOS app. .
The bug, which has since been confirmed
by Facebook, exposes a user’s camera
as they scroll through their Facebook feed. .
According to Guy Rosen, Facebook's Vice
President of Integrity, the bug is an "inadvertent"
result of an update made by Facebook on Nov. 8.
In fixing that issue last week in v246 — launched on November 8th — we inadvertently introduced a bug that caused the app to partially navigate to the
camera screen adjacent to News Feed when users tapped on photos.
Guy Rosen, Facebook's Vice President of Integrity, via Twitter.
To be affected, users must have previously
granted the Facebook app access to their
device's camera and microphone.
They must also be running
the latest software, iOS 13. .
There is reportedly "no evidence” that
the bug is causing captured photos or
videos to be uploaded to the internet.
