Instagram Will Use ‘False Information’ Label to Flag Fake News.
The new update will
inform users when
a post contains
misinformation.
The pop-up, which will also be available on Facebook,
will give users the option to read why the post was flagged.
Instagram will temporarily reduce the
distribution of flagged posts while they
are reviewed by third-party fact-checkers.
The move comes as Facebook
attempts to prevent interference
in the upcoming 2020 election.
The labels below will be shown on top of false and partly false photos and videos, including on top of Stories content on Instagram, and will link out to the assessment from the fact-checker. , Facebook, via press release
