Fake cop nabbed in QC

MANILA – A man was arrested after posing as a policeman in order to extort money from vendors in Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City. Cellphone vendor Gabriel Zalun said the suspect, Mark Anthony Verbo, introduced himself as SPO3 Pascual and demanded that he be given cellphone or cash in exchange for "protection." Zalun said Verbo's extortion went on for weeks until he decided to complain to the police. Verbo was arrested. Police seized fake identification cards and a .45-caliber pistol from him. The suspect is facing charges of illegal possession of firearms, falsification of public documents, robbery and extortion, and usurpation of authority. – report from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News
