I was inspired to make this video in GTA V after watching a video of a real-life cop in Midland, Texas drive around a crossing gate - only to be hit by an oncoming train. The officer was running lights and siren to respond to a medical emergency, but should have known to not drive through that particular intersection. Trains, which typically weigh tens of thousands of tons (compared to 3 tons for the police Tahoe), can take over a mile to stop, even from low speeds. While vehicle codes give very limited exemptions for police when running lights and siren, a train ALWAYS has the right-of-way. Stop, look, and listen. If you decide to continue anyway, this could be what happens. The laws of physics don't care if you're wearing a badge and gun, and they don't provide exceptions for when you're running lights and siren.
I'll say it again: STOP, LOOK, LISTEN. Trains ALWAYS, ALWAYS have the right-of-way.
Now, imagine that instead of a train at a crossing, that had been a family in a car or SUV at a busy intersection. I have personally seen police blow through busy intersections at highway speeds against a red light without even thinking about slowing down and making sure oncoming traffic can see them. This incident could have turned out far worse, had it been a normal intersection that the officer was blowing through.
