Deep Cuts to Department
of Education Budget Education Secretary Devos’
budget calls for more than
$7 billion in funding to be cut
from the Educational Department. The proposed plan would
specifically cut $17.6 million
from the Special Olympics. It would also see
a 26% reduction to state
grants for special education, as well as cut millions
from programs dedicated
to blind students. Betsy Devos, via NBC News Devos’ budget also eliminates
funding for improving
student achievements through
technological advancements. She has repeatedly referred
to these grants as
redundant and ineffective. Betsy DeVos, via USA Today According to representative
Mark Pocan, more than 270,000
kids would be adversely affected
by these budget cuts.
