House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Trump have agreed to a February 5 State of the Union address.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has invited President Trump to deliver his State of the Union address on February 5.  Pelosi stated in a letter to Trump on Monday: "When I wrote to you on January 23, I stated that we should work together to find a mutually agreeable date when government has reopened to schedule this year's State of the Union address."  "In our conversation today, we agreed on February 5th," she continued. "Therefore, I invite you to deliver your State of the Union address before a Joint Session of Congress on February 5, 2019 in the House Chamber."
Pelosi requested the rescheduling of the January 29 address, citing security concerns linked to the shutdown.  Trump criticized Pelosi for the suggestion.
"The State of the Union speech has been canceled by Nancy Pelosi because she doesn't want to hear the truth," he told reporters on Wednesday. "She doesn't want the American public to hear what's going on."   He also called her decision "a great blotch on the incredible country that we all love. It's a great, great, horrible mark."
